No, because there are a few other creatures in the RE Universe that have survived buildings exploding and collapsing (Thanatos-R, G-but then again, he just snuck on the train and was killed by it detonating).

But you have to compare the explosions. I mean, that explosion at the University building was something truly pathetic, as I recall. The Arklay mansion was completely obliterated.
And the labs exploded very gradually, so yeah, chances are the fire didn't even touch Birkin when he snuck onto the train. Well, maybe grazed a bit. But it was nothing compared to how huge the mansion explosion was.


But to answer your question... Yes and no. I mean, at the beginning of the game, it talks about zombies being spawned by the T-Virus. So if you think that the zombies were created by the G-Virus, then yes. But if you think that maybe the lickers, or other weird creatures, then no. Makes you a newb, but not a noob.

I actually don't think it makes you a n00b if you think that RE is scarier than SH. To me it makes you either too stupid to realize the scare, or you have a high constitution and nerves of steel and a mental quality that keeps any psychological shock from getting to you. SH was always about the subtly scare, and RE caters to the physical scare...

Well, maybe, if you don't realize that Resident Evil is technically an M rated franchise, catering to adults.
The closest thing that RE has to toys are collectible action figures. Which aren't really meant to be played with.
