Stirring the food in the pan, Kai glanced at Saiya over the flames. He'd have to keep more control over his emotions if he was going to keep either of them alive long enough to make it to the city. There was no excuse for him missing the ambush or the vast numbers of the pack. How many times had his father drilled in the lesson? Emotions are an elves enemies. They cloud our sense, leaving us just as exposed as humans. Never allow you emotions to slip through your control. Kai had forgotten how many times his father had spent hours drilling such lessons into his head.

Saiya's teal eyes became unfocused and her hand automatically turned the page in her sketch book, leaving the sketch of a stalking werewolf only half done. Just like the night before she started drawing, a song stuck in her head she started to hum as she drew. The drawing was the missing Hurst, chained to a wall a hand at his neck. When the last detail was on the paper Saiya's hand tightened around the pencil till it snapped, her humming stopped.
Blinking Saiya frowned as she looked at what she had drawn. She was used to doing this when she slept, sometimes waking up covered in paint or charcoal, asleep at her easel. Never before had she done it awake though, awake and in front of someone else. Saiya's wary teal eyes looked over at Kai to gauge his reaction.

"If you scryed it then it means there is a chance." Kai stated, his hand hovering over the picture for a second more as he memorized every detail. "That's all I need..."

Saiya frowned as she watched him. "Scryed it? What is scrying?" She asked him, moving closer again.

Kai turned his head to look at Saiya a little confused. "Don't you know the name of your own gift?" he asked standing slowly. "I would have thought, with how developed your gift is, that someone taught you about it."

Saiya bit her lip and shook her head. "My grandmother wasn't exactly glad that I wasn't normal." She admitted with a shrug. She'd spent most of her life trying to hide what he called a gift to avoid getting in trouble with her grandmother. "She used to tell me that I caused the things to happen by drawing them."

Kai couldn't happen to but laugh at that. "Scrying is merely an act of seeing. An ability to see in every direction instead of merely the present time and location." he explained as dusted off his hand though nothing was there. "You can't will it to happen simply because you witness its possibility."

Saiya glared at him, angry and hurt that he would laugh at her. "I know that now." She hissed as she snatched her sketchbook and shoved it into her bag. "But when I was five it was terrifying to think that I caused the things I drew." Her voice was indignant, though still upset at being laughed at. She had had her 'gift' since she could remember, it had been strong with she was five and had grown since then to be slightly out of control. She would avoid whole area's of a city just because she had a 'feeling' something bad was there. On really bad days when her 'gift' flared beyond her control she would black out and come to at some random place, usually still in her pj's, filthy, and missing a few hours of memory.

"I'm sorry for laughing." Kai stated softly as he walked up to her. "I keep forgetting that our knowledge isn't as common among humans." he stated, placing a comforting hand on a shoulder. "It must have been scary for you as a child... Not know what was going on."

Saiya shrugged lightly. "My grandmother was even scarier." She admitted. "That woman made it terrifying to be different than the other kids at school. Her stupid stories kept me from running away. I wasn't sure which was more frightening, the things that might live in the forest or her." Sighing she sat down. "I'm starved and I think dinner is burning." She pointed out as smoke rose out of the pan.

"S**t." Kai muttered, spinning to attend to the pan. It wasn't burnt bad, a bit had just been cooked onto the sides of the pan. Sighing as he stirred the pan, Kai reached into the pack and pulled out another small wrapping of bread. "Well at least now we know its done." he stated, pulling out the silverware and plates.
