When addressed, Dove froze, returning to the here-and-now, blinking away tears she hadn't even realized had formed. At first, she didn't respond, unsure if he was talking to her, though he soon made it obvious through his reassurance-- after all, who else would be stupid enough to buy a legendary pokemon?
She stayed still a few moments, willing the tears along her lashes to disappear as she--again-- fought with herself, unsure if she should ignore him entirely and make no contact with him, as Sera had suggested, or if she should be polite and answer him. After a few moments, she spoke up, barely turning her head so he could hear a little better. "Team Rocket is the least of my worries, but... I guess they are part of it," she answered softly."You're probably right, though..." At least, she hoped he was right.
Forcing herself not to curl in on herself and the mew still in her arms, she removed the crown of roses from around her head and set it aside, pushing her hair back from her face as she tried to decide what to do. To stay would mean risking the chance of messing things up again. To stay would mean facing Sera's disapproval for talking to Luke. To stay would be easiest, under the weight bearing heavily on her shoulders. To stay was her right, no matter who was around her. To stay gave her the hope of camaraderie. To stay gave her solid ground on which to think.
Rosie's words broke through the warring thoughts, and she nodded, drawing a deep breath. "I haven't had it long, but I don't want to cause any trouble, and it really sounds like there's trouble on it's way." She nearly swore as her voice cracked, but forced herself to stay calm.
She could handle this. She had already resolved to better her team. Trill was part of this team now. She wouldn't give that up. She couldn't. She could do this... she couldn't do this....
She had to do this.

"I need to figure myself out before I can even think of figuring out Team Rocket. They're not at the bottom of the list at all, but...I don't... This just..."
But she had to start somewhere. She couldn't conquer anything without starting with herself. Her words fell apart as her lips tried for more, and she lowered her gaze to the sand at her feet, the sight of the rolling waves of the ocean combined with her thoughts making her head spin.
When Sera spoke, she tensed visibly in the light of the fire, releasing the Mew from her hold. Trill, unwilling to leave her trainer completely, only crawled atop her shoulder, patting her hair with its small paw, then floating to lift the rose crown, hoping to cheer her up. Lovey moved around them to sit in front of her, picking up too heavily on the girl's emotional weakness. Sparky simply fixed Sera with a dark stare, watching her closely.
No, she hadn't run into Team Rocket, at least, not in a situation she couldn't handle. The two that came to mind immediately had only been of minimal threat at the time, and she knew without a doubt if they had become a threat, she would have had very little idea of what to do. She didn't want to run into them, and Rosie's words only added to the stress-- of course they wouldn't wish it on anyone. She couldn't even hope to wish it on her worst enemies.
This was why she needed to get away. To keep herself in their company would only endanger them. To stay would be to wish trouble for them, and it was the last thing she wanted in the world. But she needed help, and she knew it. Where else would she look?
Again she fell silent as panic bubbled in the pit of her chest, her body unwilling to move.

Luke pushed a hand through his hair in a momentary contemplative silence before returning his attention to Dove, elaborating on Sera's rather… blunt evaluation, "Just take one step at a time. Even one step is progress, and then another step is more progress after that, and before you know it you're in another place completely." An immense sincerity rose in his features, his words inspired from thoughts that were far too close to home, "Standing still because you don't want to move is what's most dangerous. Things can only change as long as you keep moving." He lowered his head with a frown and an apology, "Sorry, I'm not really in any place to give any kind of advice…" Vague, useless advice. Good job, kid.

Rosie swallowed, starting to feel a little sick with what she was hearing form this girl, who obviously didn't quite understand the situation here in Kodo. She didn't even seem to understand what was going on with herself let alone her pokemon. This worried Rosie, worried her that someone else might suffer on the island. Luke started to speak, and at his words she looked up, blinking once at the fire before turning to him. "Keep moving..." She said under her breath. It was good advice, despite him saying he didn't have a place to give advice like that, she knew for a fact that it was advice like that who had helped another lost little girl a long time ago. She reached up and touched his arm, glancing back over at Luke
"That kind of advice will save you Dove." She said "Please take it to heart,"
Pop shifted from behind her, a paw reaching up to pull up one side of her headphones, turning to the side with a shoulder now to Rosie's back, glancing into the conversation with narrowed eyes, but quiet lips.

As Sera spoke again, Dove's eyes lifted from the ground, tears brimming her lashes as she glared at the ocean. Sparky growled lowly after noting this look from his charge, his eyes again cutting to Sera.
Luke's words, however, calmed her again, though some of the hardness remained, as if a final attempt to hold things together. "Don't apologize, Luke..." she said quietly, shaking her head, though she kept her back to them. "You're right...Unfortunately, I need to learn to stand on my own before I can walk."
Her gaze barely shifted to the side to them through the fire, then immediately fell, what she saw only adding to the hopelessness binding her. She clenched her fists, willing herself to get a grip, feeling smothered, but screaming in silence for companionship, someone to talk to, anyone to talk to, not to be talked at.
She knew the situation in which she now found herself. She knew she was alone, and scared, and dead if anything should approach her. They had a group, a bond, there was strength in numbers. Her shoulders trembled as a part of her shut off, an emotion locking itself away in her mind. She had things to figure out, and she was on her own, weak, tired, confused. She refused to be like this. To be laughed at like this.
Lovey watched the girl, then took a step back from her, her eyes widening a little at what she saw in the girl's face, before it crumbled.
This was stupid, this was foolish, and childish, and embarrassing. Overwhelmed, she hugged her arms around her middle, shaking her head.
"I'm sorry."
