Oh, the SO would understand. I just like it when we eat together. It feels more family-like.

In my house we all eat at different times because there's no point in waiting for everyone to be here at the same time.

I'm old-fashioned that way. I prefer a known, set dinnertime together. It's not always ready at the same time every night, but whenever it gets ready, we eat together, as a family.

My family eats at different times too. Whenever we're hungry, we eat.

Well everyone in my house is home at different times because of work and school and extracuriccular activities so we can't set a dinnertime for everyone.

I know folks have jobs, school, activities, and so on. We just make sure that in our family, those things end at a time when we can come home and eat together. I feel it's important to make time for one another. Sit and talk, check in with each other, discuss things that feel important. It helps us retain our closeness. And of course, Friday night through Saturday night is us-time, no matter what.

That's cool Divash. I wish that worked in this house. Most nights my stepdad doesn't get home until 9 and my sister is usually home by 5:30 but she has to eat quickly so she can go to the church to teach the little kids.

Fortunately for me, I don't have children, so there are only two people whose schedules need coordinating. Also, at the moment I'm a homemaker instead of working outside the home, so there's really only one person I have to coordinate with, and that makes it very easy. All I have to do is adjust to my SO's schedule, which is easy-peasy, lemon-squeezy.
