I feel the need for companionship that wont cry when I yell or curse when I'm mad. I love Rose to death, but there are just things a father can't get away with in front of his daughter or girl friend.
A dog should do nicely.

True. Except when their naughty kitties, but even then the meanest thing you can do is put them back outside where they belong. (At least my kitties anyway.)
But I can't see being mean to a puppy either.

*agrees with Tana's evasion of cruelty to felines*
Yup, dogs are less intelligent by nature (that is, on average due to my experiences) so it's almost like justification.

There should never be justification for being mean or cruel to an animal, especially an intelligent pet like a dog or cat. They have feelings and emotions just like we do. How would you like it, eh?

I've had a lot of cats in my life thus far, and there is nothing out of the ordinary with being mean with them occaisonally. As long as you love them to show that it isn't a continuing hatred. sweatdrop

There is a big difference between disciplining a pet and yelling at them for no reason. I know you guys aren't talking about kicking your pets around and stuff for no reason, but still. There are better ways to deal with anger than yelling at someone (or some pet).
Sorry if this is preachy, but I do some volunteer work at pet shelters. I've seen quite a few battered and abused pets, including one who was both physically and verbally abused - the poor thing cringed away if you raised your voice at all, even in a good way. It's very, very sad. I guess I'm just a little touchy on that subject, is all. I still luvs you kids. *hugs*
