The night was dark, almost pitch black, with the slightest touch of silver from the slim cresent of the moon above. The stars were no where to be seen, and the blue kimeti ran as fast as he could. Anything to get away from that thing. Casting nervous glances over his shoulder, he caught the odd glimpse of the demon chasing him. It was dark and looming, grinning madly with contrasting white teeth. The only other color on it's body was the bright, eerie red glow of it's eyes. That sinister gaze and threatening maw was more than enough to send any kimeti running for their life.
Entirely blinded by fear, the buck stumbled along, burrs getting caught in his fur, twigs breaking and scratching him as he ran past. A particularly nasty fall left him with a gaping gash across his left flank, but he hastily scrambled back up onto his feet and kept running. The demon was gaining on him, and he couldn't afford to stop. He had to keep going, he had to get away.
Dry, hair-raising laughter started up close behind him. Much too close behind him. His tail tucked under and he put on a burst of speed, sending the buck forwards... and straight into a muddy bog. He flailed his limbs, trying to swim, trying to get on top of the muck, but deep down, he knew it was hopeless. He was caught in the strongest clutch of Mother Swamp, and the damned monster chasing him had known it would happen. That laughter ascended in volume and slow footfalls could be heard over the splashing and flailing, until they were much, much too close by. A few moments of silence followed, almost creepier than the laughter, during which the blue buck calmed his movements, emotions melting into those of desperation, depression and failure. It didn't last long though, as the demon unleashed his voice upon the dark night.
"Has my dearest fallen to the clutches of the Swamp? Has he gotten himself stuck in the mud? Unable to free his limbs of the slowly dragging muck? Oh woe is him who steps without sight..." The voice was hollow and scratching as it mocked the trapped kimeti. It was cold and full of laughter, sending shivers down the buck's spine. And it kept up it's banter for the remaining stretch of the night, toying with his emotions, teasing and tearing at his mind. It only ends when the sky begins to brighten, leaving with a cackle, "I suppose I could leave you with a few moments of quiet to mull over the pain that will ensue when your head dips below the surface and you slowly choke on the thick mud, and your body writhes in a last attempt to get you out. But don't worry... All hope is gone. And it is futile." With that, the demon slithered into the shadows and disappeared with the night's darkness.
By this point, the buck was submerged in the sucking mud upto his chin. As the monster haunted him, he had sank further and further, eventually giving up all movement and all thoughts and hopes of escape, thinking it futile. Terrified, and completely lost, he finally had a few moments of silence, and settled on the fact that he would see the sun just one last time. So the drowning buck lifted his gaze up to the sky and watched the darkness slowly inch away and brighten. This was the last time he would see the sun shine down upon Mother Swamp, the MotherFather. This was the last breath he would share with the other creatures of this world, and he spent it watching the day's first light.[ Link ]

He's a little bit crazy, and enjoys the company of the clouds, therefore spending most of his time either in clearings or out along the edges of the swamp where he can see the sky. He will sometimes say random things and then go on as if he hadn't said anything out of the ordinary, because he will forget he had said anything. He will talk to things, and hold conversations with trees sometimes. ![User Image](https://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq343/darkmoondancerart/Pets/Keeps-Me-Safe-cert.gif) Keeps-Me-Safe is exactly what she was named: she is First Light's guardian. This crane has taken it upon herself to stick around and keep this absent-minded kimeti out of harm's way whenever possible. Mostly, she is silent and stalks about hunting close by, but she keeps a very keen eye on this buck at all times and will appear at his side in a split second.
