Kari stood there, dumbfounded from Roxas' harsh words. When did he get so mouthy?
Maybe it wasn't that he was mouthy, but she couldn't take the fact that he was right. For a while she stood tall on a platform, Xenmas was congratulating her, praising her. She was the best in the Organization. She was all he needed.
But everything had become lost.
It became all about harvesting hearts, sacrificing heartless to open the Kingdom of hearts.
When did I become irrational?
Her eyes phased out, blanked in front of her. And although she could see the sky and the moon, the monster and the crumbled remains, it didn't seem as if it was really there.
What could I do?
Her eyes widened, a tingling sensation in her hand, something that felt warm and familiar, but cold.
Kari turned her head, tilting it down, the faint sparks of the keyblade's glow disappearing as it took its full solid form in her hand.
And then she could remember her own capabilities.
Roxas was right, she wasn't useless. She had more of an advantage than anyone else,
Still her stomach churned and her heart raced. A small step and her foot seemed to ache, Kari tapped it forward, inch by inch; nothing seemed to move as fast as she wanted it to. But she pressed forward.
At first she only walked, her feet and legs feeling awkward and heavy, somehow thick. But each inch led to a bigger one, the gap between her moving feet growing larger until they seemed feet apart.
Her breath became heavy and her legs became numb and cold, she began running, sprinting almost, trying to reach her goal. The bile that formed in her stomach seemed to sky rocket to her throat, but she kept it down, still keeping the pace that she was able to keep.
Even at a sprint she felt as though she reached the remains of the castle hours - days - later. It felt so long. As if she was talking to Roxas three days ago and had come ten days later to save her comrades.
Kari swallowed, the bile in her throat floating down back into the acid area of her stomach. It would come back, but now she didn't have time for it.
She didn't know where to start, after all the castle was so big. So she stood there for a moment, right on the edge of the castle's crumbled walls, her hair smelling like the wind while her skin was cold from the harshness. Her breath came out heated though, her insides were heated. And then she grew mad.
Kari threw herself down onto the floor, her keyblade disappearing from her hand as she threw it aside to grab a large chunk of rock and throw it behind her. It was heavy, and her hands and arms were weaker and wobblier than she remembered but she lifted up rock after rock of the crumbled wall to throw it behind her.
The temperature in her heart flared up and with each puff of her breath it formed a tiny cloud in the air, dissolving in a mere second.
She wanted to shout, to scream out someone's name but she didn't know who to call out too. And the stomps of the heartless that loomed over her were too loud anyways.
She just wanted to get everyone out of there. They were probably hurt, probably scared; they needed help.
Even when they needed her, she couldn't call out to them. Who should she yell for? Xigbar? Luxord? Marluxia?
Who?

 I feel dead inside, it's all due to you... But no matter what you did...
Roxas' keyblades felt like lead weights hanging as he looked up at the Heartless in front of them, every cut and burn that he and Axel had given it bled black fluids down it's body, but it didn't seem to be bothered. With every breath it took, a rank hot air blew across the pair that stood in-between it and the destruction of more than just one castle... Roxas looked down at the keyblade in his right hand, Oblivion and then back up at the Heartless, feeling almost useless himself now...
What could he do, this damned thing wasn't appearing to take any damage whatsoever... He froze as Axel laid a hand on his shoulder and looked up at his friend. Axel looked just as exhausted as Roxas knew he must, but he nodded and pointed behind Roxas. Turning and looking over one shoulder, Roxas watched as Sora approached them, Donald, Goofy, and a few others behind him. Apparently they were determined to win this fight. Looking further, he could see Merlin push up his overly long sleeves as he prepared to cast a spell and help them as well. Roxas' eyes met Sora's and he just nodded as they reached an equal footing with himself and Axel.
He turned to his friend and grinned faintly before looking up at the giant Heartless in front of them "Hey Axel, what do we do to massive freaks like this Heartless here when they mash things we care about? Or hell, even just for the fun of it?"
Axel chuckled darkly as he looked up at the Heartless, the flames around him re-appearing once more as he looked somewhat refreshed "Last I checked, we took them down..."
Roxas nodded and smiled, a wicked dark smile before he charged the Heartless again........

Roxas ran one hand through his hair and groaned as he realized he'd forgotten that his hands were coated in the Heartless'... Well, fluids.... He looked over at the magical fire, courtesy of Donald and Merlin, as it ate at the body of the creature.. This one hadn't been able to just vanish, they'd kept it from giving up it's heart to Kingdom Hearts. Roxas grinned up at Axel as his friend tossed one arm around his shoulder, a huge smile plastered across his face. Roxas just sighed and shook his head before he headed back towards the castle, wondering where Kari had gotten off to, and he wanted to see just how bad the damage was...

It had been a good hour, or even two, and still she had found nothing.
Maybe it was a combination of her weak arms, her head, and stomach; it all lead to her downfall.
Here she was, not even in the battle, and she was already tired.
But what could she do?
Still she dug, picking up huge chunk after chunk and throwing it behind her. Hearing it crack against the floor was awkward, scary, it almost sounded hollow but somehow still heavy. Somehow it reflected just how she felt. Cold, hollow, heavy. Life felt like a huge thunk at the moment, nothing was good; somehow months had passed by without her knowledge. How did it happen?
Kari's breath became raspy, harsh, with each stone she picked up, it cost her energy. With each stone she threw back it only deprived her of more.
For the first time she realized that it grew quiet, there was no more noise from the monster of before. But still it didn't make her stomach easy.
Kari had made a small dent in the whole castle's rubble. She stopped, the top of her arms aching before she stood up.
Working from the edge wasn't really getting her anywhere, sure it was the smartest way to clear the area but it just wasn't fast enough. She stood up, her legs almost crumbling beneath her as she started to climb over the stone.
The closer she became to the middle of the scene the more steep it became, sometimes her heart gave her a small panic because of the uneven rubble still settling from the fall.
She coughed, stopping and getting down onto her knees and pushing rocks to the side the best she could.
"Hm, the traitor is seeking her comrades? How pitiful."
Kari's body became erect, so much so that her spine even ached. How could that voice sound so familiar?
Her nerves balled up, it shouldn't be who she knew that it was. How could he have survived?
Kari turned her head a little, her eyes widening while her arms had fallen in front of her.
"You're filthy, how long have you been searching?"
She grew angry, her teeth grinded against each other and her eyes watered. "I'll kill you,"
Xenmas only smiled, as if she had said some joke; but he was the only one who understood it.
"But you've done well, and I'm not quite finished with you yet."
She stood up and turned around, her footing still uneven just like the stones beneath her.
"Yo--" "Listen to me, and do what I tell you."
Kari stood there, feeling limp. A sudden familiar cloud sweeping over her eyes and blinding her.
"Yes, I'll do as you say."
From his stand-offish point he grinned, even more so devilishly than before. "They need to be taken care of now. They wouldn't dream of harming you, you've become close to both sides. Such a good traitor you've become, but it resulted in your downfall. In the next fight, I don't suspect that you will survive."
"Yes Xenmas, I understand."
Xenmas' long hand sweeped in front of him, spinning off to the side and pointing out her destination. "Just take care of them, they'll ruin my plans if they're alive for too long."
Her legs felt hard again, heavy and dense as she stomped on top of the crumbs the heartless had left behind. The rocks fell beneath her, causing her to slide sometimes, but she didn't pay any mind to it.
In fact she didn't pay a mind to anything, for it seemed as if hers was gone.

I feel dead inside, it's all due to you... But no matter what you did...
Roxas sighed softly as they walked, Sora and the others trailing behind himself and Axel as they looked for Kari... They'd lost alot of ground while fighting the Heartless, and had been a handful of steps from the destruction of the city before they'd finally killed it... He saw Kari coming toward them, her bright hair dulled with dirt, her arms and hands coated in it... Was there blood on her hands? From digging...? She'd been searching for the missing Organization members.... He shook off the thoughts and moved to go to her but Axel held him back, shaking his head as Roxas looked up at him. He looked at Kari again and saw that her eyes almost seemed dead... Something happened, someone had done something to her..
Roxas shook of Axel's arms and met Kari halfway between them, stopping her with his hands on her shoulders, looking down at her, and pushing her hair back out of her face with one hand. "Kari, what happened?"

"YOU did this....you ruined EVERYTHING. YOU KILLED THEM ALL." Kari could hear herself, somehow she could hear herself. The tone of her voice escalated, but still it sounded dead; so monotoned.
She wanted to speak more, to tell everyone that what she said wasn't true; but she couldn't.
From there she growled at him, showing him her teeth and barring them. Kari held out her hand, summoning her own weapon as she slashed it vertically.
But she missed.
"I won't miss again."
Still she could hear herself, but the word's didn't sound true to her. They weren't her words, it was just her voice; someone else was saying them.
Or maybe they were her words, even she knew that there was rage building up inside of her. What she said did have some truth in it, he did leave the Organization. If he had been there, maybe they would still be alive.
"It was you who killed them."
Her own heart seemed to burn, as if it was on fire, her own emotions tearing at themselves. "It was the traitor."
Her arms fell to the side, keyblade scratching the pavement floor. "It is all your fault, we have to fix the problem."
She lifted her hand, her weapon going high above her head as she gripped it with both palms. Kari's head also rose, the same eyes, the same demeanor, but something was different; because there was a bit of truth in those words.
"That's right, all the traitors fault."
High on top of the rubble stood Xenmas, hands together under his black cloak sleeves.
"I see, somehow you escaped. But this time Kari will take care of you. Won't you Kari?"
"Yes."
"How dare he leave his comrades, his friends. And now look what's become of them, all dead."
"...Yes."
"They need to not have died in vain! To be resurrected through you Kari!"
"Yes."
Xenmas' voice escalated, as did his ego. How could he loose? He couldn't.
They wouldn't dream of attacking her, and he - he was unreachable. For if they tried to n** at him, Kari would definitely sacrifice herself upon his command and then vanish; leaving the zero-hero's to pick up her pieces.
"So do it, help them Kari! Help them!"
Just from a few words she had yelled, screamed out as she lunged forward and swung one slice after the other.
All the while Xenmas stood, smirking as he stood above his game of chess. Still the King as he watched his pawns kill each other off.

Roxas heard Xemnas' voice from high above them, and barely dodged a blow from Kari as she swung madly at him, trying to kill him... As he backed away, still unarmed, he spared a glance to Xemnas.. He was controlling her somehow... This wasn't Kari... He could see Merlin out of the corner of his eye, pushing back his sleeves and preparing to cast, to help in any way he could, which currently meant incapacitating Xemnas... Roxas jumped back again as Kari kept swinging and growled deep in his throat, summoning his twin keyblades he parried attack after attack, ending up with minor cuts on his arms as he tried not to hurt Kari..
It seemed like they'd fought forever, when he noticed that Xemnas was gone, as were Merlin and Mickey. He shook off the worry and concentrated on the fight, well, defense, that he had to keep up. He locked Kari's Keyblade in the scissor of his own and looked at her across their locked blades. "Kari, what're you doing, this isn't you.... Think about Sora... Donald, Goofy.... Leon... Merlin? Think about all they've done to keep these worlds safe, to keep you safe...."

"And you? What have you done!" Kari's anger grew, the flame in her body burning higher so much so that it felt as if it could melt her from the inside out.
She pulled back, hitting his weapon again which made her skid back; the heels of her doll shoes skidding across the stone pavement.
"I hav--" Kari stopped, her arms falling to her sides slightly curling in front of her; but mostly her hands just went limp. Her eyes grew big, eyebrows lifting as something internally had sparked off the charts. She could feel it, something was wrong, it had happened in a split second.
But her body reacted faster than her brain.
She coughed, blood spewing out of her mouth and quickly a hand covered it. But her coughing fit wouldn't stop, still it flew out, even spilling between her fingers.
Her Keyblade fell to the floor, dematerializing quickly, and her eyes returned to normal.
Once again her body reacted, her brain screaming at her to do something; sending out blind signals.
Kari fell to the floor, her thin hands scraping on the stone along with her knees, suddenly they looked so pale. Still she kept hacking and coughing, the blood on the floor turned from droplets to the smallest of a 'puddle'.
Her right hand went up, clutching the top part of her dress and scrunching it up. Her eye's defogged, going back to their normal bright color but she couldn't stop coughing.
"Whats--" Kari let go of her chest, putting her hand quickly down back onto the floor so she could cough more. For her there wasn't even time to breathe, all she could do was cough - in an ironic way, it seemed to be killing her; then again she wasn't a doctor, she didn't know what was happening.
"Hm, troublesome."
Kari felt a tap on the top of her head, and for a second she could breathe.
She looked up, seeing an old man, beard, cloak and wand.
"Merlin?"
Awkwardly she squinted her eyes. The way the moonlight hit him, she couldn't make out his face. "No. I foresaw this in the stars. Merlin is no teller of the sky like me."
Kari got onto her knees, her lips stained with the color of her own internal bloodstream; but at least she stopped coughing. "..The...stars?" Even though the moon shined from behind him and blocked his face, she could still make out his figure, his slumping hat bobbing a bit as he nodded. "You have a great battle ahead of you, you might loose."
"A bat--"
Kari covered her mouth, coughing into it again as she doubled over.
"Hm, the spell wore off? Well you do need more help than what a few effects will give you."
"Yen Sid!"
Kari continued coughing, still unsure of what to do as she covered her mouth; anything to just keep it inside and not from going out.
Donald had waddled over, his staff in the air as he exlaimed excitedly. "Why are you here?"
"Hm? If it isn't the Keybearer's sidekick."
"Wah!? Sidekick!?" He stomped his webby foot, Yen Sid moving away from him as he walked over to Kari and motioned a hand at her. "Your comrade is in danger, and there's only one option for her."

Roxas' eyes burned with held back tears as Kari slashed mindlessly, screaming at him, then she just stopped... There was no warning, no such thing as nice as that... She just stopped fighting, and started coughing up blood. She was on the floor before he could even think about doing something, he knelt down nearby, watching her helplessly as she coughed up more and more blood, a puddle had formed.... Then Yen Sid appeared and he could hear again, not even realizing until then that the world had become one giant buzzing noise... He heard Donalds squawk of indignation at being called a sidekick.
Yen Sid told Donald Kari was in danger and the fight faded from Roxas' eyes as he looked at her slight form and then up at Yen Sid.... It seemed to take forever and then some before he actually managed to speak.. "What's this option? his voice was rough, like he'd been ill or some such thing. It hurt to talk, why did it hurt to talk? He raised one hand and rubbed his throat, feeling moisture. Huh, Kari had nicked him at some point with her keyblade.. He didn't even care... All he cared about was Kari, laying on the ground seeming to cough her life away as the spasms racked her petite body... He didn't care at this point, what he had to do... As long as she was okay....

"It seems that she--" Yen Sid stopped, Kari had fully doubled over, holding onto the ground beneath her before she just collapsed.
"It seems that she's lost quite a bit."
Goofy had wandered over during sometime, bending down as he became finicky over her body before finally lifting it. "Well 'er, what should we do Yen Sid?" His own voice squawked out, Kari sprawled over his shoulder while her arms swung lifelessly. "Don't hold her like that, you'll make it worse." Goofy panicked again, changing the position of her body so that her legs hung over one side of his arm while the other cradled her head; the weird thing of it was that her eyes were still open.
"You." Yen Sid had turned his head, looking down at Roxas' small demeanor. "You must find Xenmas and make sure they haven't done away with him."
He turned away from him, ignoring the boy and his mission as he pulled out his wand. "And find Merlin while you're at it, I shouldn't have to be fixing anyone up. I'm retired." He grumbled, keeping his frown as he sighed and tapped onto Goofy, a cloud of smoke covering the both of them. When it had cleared up, they were gone; and Yen Sid had put his wand away.
"We will be at my home, doing all we can. Do not come until you've made sure that he is still alive, without him all my help would be for nothing and I didn't come out here to lollygag." Yen Sid turned to Donald and looked down at the small sidekick, "You must take me to Merlin's home, I have to prepare before going to my own."

Roxas watched as Goofy picked up Kari and then looked up at the tall wizard as he spoke to him. Just as quickly, he was dismissed and he bit down on his bottom lip hard, biting back all the questions he had running through his mind... After all, the man knew what he was doing far more than Roxas ever would, and so he decided to trust in the wizard and just summoned his keyblades back from where he'd dropped them, sending them off to wherever they stayed when he didn't have them on him. Sighing, he ran his hands through his hair and walked off, deciding to find Merlin first, he'd be the easy one...
Sure enough it was relatively easy, the old wizard had fainted from all the action he was forced to take upon his own shoulders, and was just where Roxas had last seen him before he'd started fighting with Kari. He took the man back to his home, leaving him to his own life before he went back to the scene of the horrid incident... The scent of the burning Heartless still filled the air as Roxas began to search for clues as to where Xemnas was. Axel popped back up out of nowhere it seemed and tapped Roxas on the shoulder.
"Uh, are you completely stupid? Did you forget you've got someone with a direct line?" he chuckled and grabbed Roxas' wrist, dragging him into a shadowed portal
Roxas groaned as Axel yanked him into one of the portals and looked around as they emerged in a darkened room, lit by only the flickers of a fireplace that desperately needed more wood... What world were they on? He followed Axel through the building, looking around in curiosity, a keyblade summoned to each hand, just in case...

"What are we here for, Yen Sid?"
Donald walked through the house, following after the retired wizard as he whisked through the house. Yen Sid had pulled out a small velveteen pouch, the top opening up as he had waved his wand over it a few minutes before. Together they browsed the house, Yen Sid able to sniff out whatever he needed. Mostly he pulled out potions, making them drift into the bag. He loaded in jar after jar, taking some other odd ends along with him, like rope and spices. "Just a little restock, they expect me to mend their friend then I'll need some repentance. Donald stood there with his bill shut, stopping finally when Yen Sid stopped. "No we will take our leave."
Yen Sid had formed a cloud over both of them, transporting them to his home which was just a large 'castle' type house.
Two large doors had opened in front of him, not even needing to be pushed, and there laid Kari on a table that had been covered with a sheet. Like most of the furniture in the room it had been covered with a sheet, hiding it for some reason. But both Donald and Goofy learned to not snoop in Yen Sid's things, some of his magical items had been known to backfire and create curses instead of good fortune.
Yen Sid stood in front of her, his bag opening up and the contents of it spilling out but defying gravity as they floated in the air. "There's not too much I can do until they've found him, but this should keep her stable." A jar popped open, drifting above Kari's body and tilting to the side so that the golden flakes inside of it had spilled over her. "Till then you will both need to stay at different points here, make sure nobody that isn't supposed to enter doesn't." Goofy and Donald gulped, each nodding vigorously before walking out and deciding stations at the castle which they would stand guard at.

I feel dead inside, it's all due to you... But no matter what you did...
In many ways, it was unfortunate that they didn't encounter anyone as they went through the building Axel had brought them to... But they did find Xemnas, and he was indeed alive and well... Roxas looked at the man from their hiding place and watched him pace back and forth, his long hair a curtain down his back, he looked stressed... They'd finally shaken the terrifying man. Axel poked Roxas hard in the shoulder, forcing him to look at his friend in annoyance only to notice the camera in his hand. Roxas nodded and snapped a quick picture and they exited via another portal before the man could notice them.
When the portal spit them out outside Yen Sid's house Roxas sighed softly and started towards the door... It hadn't been easy, granted they'd had a few close encounters while leaving the building, damn near getting themselves caught a multitude of times... But they'd made it out regardless, and now, looking up at Yen Sid's home, Roxas' stomach churned as he thought of Kari, that her life somehow relied on the information he'd brought... It made him ill to think of losing her... He'd do anything to have her healthy again... Anything.
I'm still in love with you...

"So you're back." Yen Sid had been the first to comment on Roxas' presence, especially since he had entered the room while bypassing Donald and Goofy. "Your friend will not make it, and there is nothing we can do for her."
And just like that Yen Sid had pushed them aside, her existence was meaningless now that her fate was determined. He moved passed the duo and walked back into his office, going to sit down at his desk.
A minute later Donald and Goofy had walked in, along with Sora who had saluted him knowing his attitude. "Well, er Yen Sid, we just wanted ya' to know that Sora was here now."
Yen Sid looked at the trio, his demeanor still stale and blank. "That's well, we might be attacked soon anyways. Be on your best."

Roxas' face fell as he looked at Yen Sid, just walking away from him after such a shattering utterance of words.. He looked over at Kari and shoved away Axel's hands as he went to her, sitting on the edge of the table she laid on, he wrapped his hands around her own, already her hands were chilled... Looking down at her he bit his bottom lip and looked over one shoulder at Yen Sid. "I'd give my life for her, is there nothing you can do?" the world had narrowed down, Roxas didn't even see Sora enter, didn't hear Goofy's words, his head felt heavy like he was going to pass out....
I'm still in love with you...
