Rust smiled, happy Estelle was so content. She deserved some relax time after the hell she had been through. He was still barefoot, having forgotten all about his shoes in the woods. He walked towards the ocean, the sand feeling amazing. It was cool and grainy, massaging his feet with every step. He couldn't stop himself, the wolf inside overwhelming him with a sense of play. He ran and dove into the sand, rolled and lay flat on his back, staring at the sky with a huge grin on his face. It felt good to rub up against the sand, as if he was getting a full body scratch that was very much needed.

"You know? I've never really gone a a beach. Been here all my life and I never once thought about visiting it." he said up to the night sky, though he was clearly talking to Estelle.

Estelle giggled as she watched Rust. She could see, or sense, the wolf inside of him more than before now, but she didn't mind it. Usually, she would have been a bit put off, but after all the events she'd been through, after everything happened, the only thing she cared about was having a moment to relax and be with him for once. It was nice. She laid down next to him in the sand, taking off her shoes and digging her bare feet into the cool wet sand. Her hair fell out of its ponytail and billowed around her a she leaned back and stared up at the sky.

"You've been missing out," Estelle replied with a small smile, "We should make plans to visit the beaches of Sicily. They're breathtaking. " She inhaled the sweet ocean hair and closed her eyes for a moment. The sound of the ocean, the smells, it was all very therapeutic.

Rust looked over at Estelle, looking over her golden curls as they sprawled over the sand. He reached over and wrapped a finger in it, twirling it to encircle his finger. "I would love to travel and see Italy with you." he said genuinely. he rolled over on his stomach, Shaking the sand from his hair and burying his arms in the sand. He looked over the ocean. "You know, I heard the waves on the west cost put these ones to shame. Have you ever been over that way?"

Estelle smiled and blushed, unable to help herself. She turned to lay on her stomach as well, resting her head on her folded arms. Her eyes focused in the darkness to gaze at the outline of his face that shone in the moonlight. "Really? I haven't, actually... We should go there too." she smiled at the thought of traveling together; it would be so perfect, the little girl in her mind was squealing with joy.

Rust focused his eyes on the ocean. He could still hear the splashes in the distance, but they seemed closer. He could make out vague shapes. they did look like dolphins or large fish, but when he looked closer, he thought he saw women. "What the--" He sat up, looking harder. "Estelle, you see that?" He got up, holding a hand out fer her, and went to the water's edge, letting the waves wash over his feet. They were women! But they had fish like tails. "No way!"

Estelle blinked profusely and rubbed her eyes, making sure she had seen correctly. She took his hand and rose to her feet, walking to the edge of the ocean. The water was quite cool as the sea foam washed over her feet, and she stared ahead at the creatures in the water. "Mermaids??" she blurted, her mouth dropping open in astonishment. Was that even possible? First werewolves, now mermaids? What crazy world had she been missing her whole life?

Rust confirmed what he was seeing, and it indeed looked like they were looking at mermaids. "Wow..." One of the mermaids stopped when she spotted the two on the beach and waved to them, inviting them to come swim with them. Rust was captivated by their beauty. They way they moved, the way they looked, it was more than desirable. He looked at Estelle, "Should we?" He asked her. He steeped further into the water, but is was freezing. He paused, waiting to see what Estelle wanted to do.

For some reason, Estelle was hesitant. She was both amazed and captivated, but the water made her toes numb. She didn't want to go too far, after all, what if something happened? What if this was a trap? Don't be silly, the other voice in her mind thought, Have a little fun. Estelle shivered, but grasped onto Rust's hand. "Be c-careful," she said as they waded further into the water. The water was cold, but the sand felt strangely warm on her toes. It was nice. The mermaids looked at them but said nothing. Estelle waved, hoping they were friendlier than the werewolves had been at first.

Rust did not share the fear and caution Estelle felt towards the mermaids. Once Estelle let him go deeper into the water, Rust barely even noticed the chill. He kept a tight hold onto her, trying to give her his plentiful warmth and keep her from being pulled out to sea. The mermaids beckoned them closer and closer, but swam farther and farther. "Wait! We can't swim like you!"

Estelle felt perfectly safe at Rust's side, but she didn't like the way the mermaids kept moving away from them. If they weren't friendly, this could be a trick. "Maybe we should just watch them from afar, Rust," she suggested, realizing that she was now up in the water to her upper stomach. The water was chilly, but she didn't mind it all that much. It's the mermaids that were making her nervous. Her eyes fluttered over to the mermaids as they flipped and spun in the water, looking gleeful as ever. Perhaps it would be best to stay put.

Rust looked at Estelle, thoughtful. He really wanted to swim with the mermaids. It seemed adventurous, and he wanted to feel that adrenalin rush like when he was hunting. The beast needed more. His want to keep Estelle safe was stronger though, so he took her back to the shore, not wanting her to stay still in the cold water. "If we go to California, and the water is warmer, we should try and swim with them there, if there are any there." he suggested this, but it was more to convince himself not to go out into the dark waters now.

Estelle smiled and sat down in the sand. "You can go now if you want," she assured him with a kind smile, "I'll watch." Her shorts and half her shirt were now soaking wet, but it didn't really bother her. It was more refreshing than anything. She rolled her shoulders back and leaned back, propping her elbows against the sandy ground.

Rust's face lit up like a boy who was just given a new toy, "Yeah? You don't mind?" he smiled broadly, his fangs flashing in the moonlight. "I won't take long! I just want to get a closer look!" he took off back into the water, bounding and wading excitedly. The mermaids continued to beckon him along, bobbing up and down in the small waves. Rust barely felt the cold water as it rose to his waist, then his chest and then his neck. He looked back at Estelle, sitting on the beach, and waved to her.

When his feet could no longer feel the sand beneath them, Rust felt a tinge of fear. He turned again to see the beach, but instead, he saw the face of a beautiful woman smiling at him. He jumped, not expecting it, but smiled back. "Hello, are you a mermaid?" He asked. The woman nodded, her eyes sparkling as if there were entire galaxies swirling within them. "Wow... I-i've never met a mermaid before..." he was getting lost in those eyes...

Estelle smiled and watched him go back into the ocean, simply pleased just to make him happy. Despite the nagging voice in the back of her head that this wasn't a good idea, she continued to smile as she watched. What's the worst that could happen? she thought, trying to keep positive thoughts in her mind. After all, she couldn't imagine mermaids being hostile in any way... right? Estelle was reassured when he waved to her; she waved back, standing up to get a better look.

Soon, however, his figure was lost among black waves, and the mermaids surrounded him. She squinted, trying to refocus her eyes in the darkness and make out the outline of his body. "Rust?" she called out after a moment of silence. The dark waves sloshed over her feet as she walked towards the edge of the water. The black abyss made it hard to see anything, but she could still just barely see them in the distance. Something seemed wrong. "Rust?" she called again, a bit louder.

Rust heard his name being called, but it was faint. He turned to see who was calling him, but came into vies of another beautiful mermaid. "Oh, hi. Were you calling me?" The mermaid nodded, smiling. "Oh, okay. What can I do for you?"

Bongo was cleaning things up after Garrett had skinned the two deer when he notices Rust and Estelle had been gone a while. He wiped his hands off in the kitchen and went to their room, knocking. There was no answer. "Hmm..." He was getting a bad feeling, in his gut. His gut never did him wrong, and it was telling him to find them. He went to the rec room. "I'm going scouting. Be back in a bit." with that, he left the building and followed his nose.

Rust couldn't tell, but the mermaids were steering him into deeper waters. They swam around him, smiling and giggling at him, their eyes captivating him. He was treading water now, keeping himself afloat as best he could, but there was an undercurrent.
