A trumpet sounded suddenly, blasting across the room far too loud and far too sharp. The man playing it obviously had no skill with it, but apparently figured that volume was more important anyways. The bell of the trumpet jerked back behind the doorframe as it was stuffed quickly back into the hands of the official trumpeteer who appeared to be attempting to both disappear and shoo the newcomer away at the same time. The newcomer took these frantic gestures as a sort of ultra-hip bow and responded by tipping his hat, promptly knocking the trumpeteer unconscious with the massive feather atop it. Seeing no one standing by to properly introduce him, Sir Madam shrugged and decided to take matters into his own hands.
"PRESENTING HIS WONDERFULNESS, THE GREAT, THE AWESOME, THE HANDSOME AS ALL HECK, KING OF YOUR HEARTS..."
Sir paused, waiting for a drumroll. No drumroll was forthcoming, so he made do with slapping his thighs for a bit. Growing tired of slapping his thighs, he stopped and continued.
"SIR MADAM!"
He ducked around the corner, smiling and bowing to the crowd he knew must be there.

When Farthersomewich reminded her that she still hadn't chosen an heir, Her Royalness the queen sighed and said, "Oh, of course... so good of you to take the initiative there, Chancellor. Here, help me stay awake." Whereupon she shoved a large array of feathers on a short handle at him so he could fan her while the nobility gathered. To his valet, she said: "And I think we need a snack. Send word to the royal carrot-warmer, and include an order for candied celery and chocolate beets." Dismissing him with a wave of her soft furry paw, the queen sat back to watch the introductions.
Meanwhile, the nobles who had been singing earlier joined the rest who were already present in the audience hall, to whisper amongst themselves and place bets. There were probably a couple dozen or so among them who would certainly not be presenting themselves for consideration, particularly those who had insufficient or questionable parentage. And a very few who did, had enough sense to know they had too much sense to get mixed up in such things.
