I'm a little confused by the wording. It was just a bad joke, that's all. Some material is off limits to certain populations. That's a thing i don't understand, at all. Go tell some Holocaust jokes to your Jewish friends. Some tragedy affects us more than others. 9/11 was something that revealed vulnerabilities we never realized we had as a nation, in the most brutal way possible.

True, I guess it's not all black and white, that's why we develop an etiquette that isn't so arbitrary. It takes a bit of common sense too.

It was a drawn example, not a comparison, as a comparison draws specific comparisons between events and as an example the holocaust was put into a similar situation of "use".
So it isn't really the same.
