*waves* HI! Thanks, you guys, for letting me join! I'm Tiffany. I'm 22 and in America.
I have been doing art since I was 3, but I've only been sculpting since I started college, so for about four years now--I'm about to graduate!! I started when I took my 3-D design class, and it was then that I decided I had to have more and have been taking classes ever since--both sculpture classes and ceramics.
I really like to work with the figure, so this it shows up in a lot of my work--3-D and 2-D. I guess you could call this a specialty? I have been doing a LOT of casting the past few of semesters--glass, paper, clay slip-casting, plaster, metal. I really like the reproductive nature of casting--which links itself to the Printmaking emphasis of my Studio Art degree. I really like working with plaster because of the great versatility of medium. I work with the plaster we have in the studio, which is just a construction white plaster, so nothing fancy there.
A big weakness that I have is procrastination. I am not the most timely with my assignments. Which leads to long and late studio hours at the end of the semester. Sculpturally, I would say that I have a weakness in the dealing with the face, which is something that I am working on. I get around this in my sculptures, sometimes I will work in ways around not including it, or go about it differently--such as when I was creating an plaster figure on a wire frame by building up and then carving and shaping, I created the face out of clay the way I wanted it, made a plaster mold, and cast the face in plaster to attach to my figure's head. Another weakness that I have in carpentry. My wood skills aren't too great, but they are getting better.
Currently, I don't have links to my work, but I am in the process of photographing them for record (and eventual graduate school applications), so when I do, I will certainly post some.

Hi, everyone! I'm Liz, I'm 22, and from New York. I'm very into fiber crafts, mostly knitting and crocheting. But I also like trying new stuff, so I've done a little spinning, needle felting, scrapbooking, cardmaking, and little of this, a little of that. But I love crochet the best, so I found my way to amigurumi about two years ago. I'm a big anime/video game fan, and a joke I made led me to crochet a doll of Kratos, from the God of War games (I called him Krochetos, bwa-ha-ha). I gave it to my mom for Christmas last year. Then I decided to make my brother the Bride from Kill Bill. Then it just kept rolling, and now I have a list of characters to crochet (Medusa from Pet Shop of Horrors, Starfire from Teen Titans, Misa and L from Deathnote, and the ultimate challenge: Master Chief from Halo). I think part of my interest is because I cosplay, and as I'm making my own costumes, I kinda think, "How can I crochet this wig?" Anyway, I hope to make some new friends in here, and I can always learn a thing or two. Nice to meet you all!

Hallo everyone!
I'm 24 and you can call me Iki or Sarah, whichever you prefer (or whatever you remember, probably Iki). My grandmother got me into crafts at an early age, when we would often be painting figures, creating those kid-stained-glass window hangers, or our favorite activity of the time, decorating clothing. I had a Halloween hat and sweatshirt that had lights on it...and I thought I was awesome. whee I might wear it this year, if I can fit into it, I think I can!
When I was about 20, I got into cake decorating, and now my favorite activity is cake, especially cupcake, decorating, though I'll never turn down experimenting with other desserts. ^.^
So anyway, college (and grad school) got in the way of my non-food crafting, though I was gifted a sewing machine from my grandmother about halfway through, and I was known to make matching pj pants and pillow sets for friends, just for an excuse to use the machine for quick projects. I also have a lot of unfinished knitted scarves...I should really finish those. sweatdrop
Now that I am done with school, I have fallen in love with felt plushies, and I am starting to learn how to make them. My hand sewing still isn't fantastic, but I have been looking at (and for) tutorials to help me improve.
I tend to get anxious and stressed out easily, and having a craft that I enjoy really helps me to relax at the end of the day, so I hope to have the hang of hand sewing by the time I get hired on somewhere (which should be soon, oi), since decorating cupcakes doesn't get along with my diet, so I can only do those for occasions or when requested.
Any links to hand sewing (relevant to plushie making, especially) tutorials, or any really helpful plushie tutorials are always welcome in my PM box!

basic details like your age and country
I'm 23, from Adelaide, South Australia.
how long you've been into sculpture and craft
I used to use polymer clay a lot when I was younger. My aunt used to do a lot of pottery, but she also made smaller things with Fimo clay. Whenever we visited our cousins, she would let us use her clay.
I've only just recently gotten back into it. I was cleaning out a few boxes in my room, and I came across some of the figurines I made years ago, so I decided to take it up again.
My mom has been giving me lessons in cake decorating, which is similar to clay modelling, except instead of using clay, we use sugarpaste (fondant). I've attempted to make flowers in clay, but clay sticks together a lot more than sugarpaste, so it's hard to keep the petals from sticking to each other.
what got you started in it
My aunt got me interested in clay, and my mom got me interested in cake decorating.
what you consider your specialties/weaknesses
My specialties in clay would be small figurines, usually bunnies or bears. And for cake decorating, I would say roses or frangipanis.
links to your work
This is just a couple of my recent creations. I'm still getting the hang of making these.

Hi! I'm Anneko. I'm a college student and crafter in California. I love knitting, plush making, theatrical costuming (and mask-making), creative baking/cookery, and 2D art as well. I also enjoy scrapbooking (though sadly I never seem to get around to it...), clay (not really my forte, but fun), and for a while I was into jewelry making, though I didn't get good at it. It was kind of fun, but I'm happy to have moved onto other crafts. I also like origami-- I don't do it very often, but it can be lots of fun.
I just finished a major costuming project for theatre crafts using found objects, and the project I'm embarking on now is Rabu Sushi, a collection of plush sushi and onigiri. My first was an onigiri that I now use as a pincushion when I make other plushes, and I'm working on making a sushi pincushion for my brother, sushi fan and fellow crafter. He's a clay sculptor (he's also worked in wood, metal, and plasterwrap) who is beginning to get into plush making.
In addition to Rabu Sushi, I continue to knit and also make little character plushies. Once I can get my pictures up, I'll start sharing them!
=^__^= Anneko
