Areashine heard the resounding cheer roared up through the crowds. Areashine quite running and walked back to the pub, defeated.

Rupel's flock of petit-fours suddenly turned and started following something, so she turned with them to go along and see what it was. Besides, somehow more of the little tiny pastries had showed up; there were so many that it would have been hard NOT to get swept along with them.

After a few moments, Rupel saw they were following some kind of... mouse? Oh! It was a little fake-fur wind-up mouse, whirring its way back along the track. Rupel ran up and pounced on the thing, then held it in her hands as she turned and went back to trying to get to the end of the track, the petit-fours all swarming around and trying to get near the still-whirring wind-up mouse.

Rupel did hear that a winner was announced, but she was the determined sort of cookie-girl who would insist on crossing the finish line even if she were in last place.

After the prize was awarded to her Rooj accepted the awe and cheers from the crowd as they began to prepare a ceremony comemorating the event.

Leaving Ike to deal with them Rooj looks around before finally discovering her lamb slave. With a new master.

"YOU! Give me back my sheep!" Rooj yelled as she ran towards the girl as she crossed the finish line.

Kair hid behind Rupel thinking she would be punished.

Repel's petit-fours had been joined by an awful lot of bouncing donut holes, and all together they somehow seemed to number in the hundreds. They all flocked around as though to protect Rupel, and consequently the sheep as well, since Kair was hiding behind Rupel.

Rupel frowned. "What if she doesn't want to go back to you?" she asked, raising her voice a little bit as well. "You abandoned your sheep as if she didn't matter to you at all!"

Ike Pike stood by Roojs side leering at Rupel and swinging his cage chain thoughtfully.

"She is my property and I had better things to do like winning the race. Now that I have won ive come to collect her."

Rooj said loftily.

Rupel stood at her full height which was about the same as Rooj, at around 3.5 feet tall. "If winning the race was more important to you, then maybe that's just the price you pay for winning."

"Kair come here." Rooj ordered.
The enchantments on the collar forced Kair to begin walking towards Rooj.
Kair tried fighting it with no chance.

But ever since Rupel had woken up in a bakery and had refused to get in a box to be shipped off to be a present for someone, the theoretically-edible girl had never been able to approve of anyone being forced to do something they didn't want to do, and so neither did the hundreds of little petit-fours and donut holes. Rupel whistled something to them and they swarmed around Kair, getting in the sheep's way so she couldn't keep moving towards Rooj. They also pushed on the slave collar, from a couple different directions. If there was any weak point on the collar, there was a chance it could break.

Kair gasped and fell over in surprise as the bells on the collar began to ring wildly in alarm when the collar cracked.

Swearing at this Ike Pike threw out his chained collars and cages out at Kair and the donut people to trap them.

Rooj was unconcerned and certain Ike would catch them. "What rare slaves. Are they for sale?" She asked curiously.

The petit-fours and donut holes were each no bigger around than a silver dollar coin, and since there were hundreds of them bouncing around between Ike and Kair, it was likely the cages might at the very least be slowed down and fall short.

"I don't sell baked goods." Rupel replid in a serious tone. She didn't like the way Rooj referred to her petit-fours and donut holes as 'slaves'. Sure, they had barely any intelligence at all, but she didn't think of them as slaves. She didn't beat them if they didn't do a trick right, and she didn't force them to follow her around.

Rooj smirked believing Rupel was trying to raise the price on them.

"How about we gamble on them then? I will bet you my little lambkin against your donut holes and petit-fours."

Ike handed Rooj a deck of cards.

"The game is slave auction." She explained the rules.

Justice scurried home in defeat, beside his flamingo. "When we get home, I'm gonna get us some nice fish." This perked the pink bird right up. (To Jarian Base)

Rupel didn't like the sound of the game, but she kind of did like to gamble from time to time. And she didn't like the idea of the sheep being gambled for like a piece of property, but on the other hand, if Rooj lost she'd give up claim to owning Kair, right? The more Rupel thought about it, the better the idea sounded. And as for the petit-fours and donut holes (which were still mostly around Kair, and some bouncing around Rupel)... Rupel didn't like trading them as property either, but they were barely sentient and if they weren't around her they just wouldn't do anything because they only understood commands given by baked people. Otherwise, they'd be like ordinary unanimated baked goods, just sitting around waiting to be eaten.

"Okay." Rupel said, "Deal the cards."

...

It took Rupel a little bit to get the hang of it, but she had played something before that had some similarities, and once she got into it, she was able to do well.
In fact, she did well enough to win.

Rooj stared at the hand unable to believe the bad luck.

"You must have cheated!"

She accused angrily jumping up and down in fury.

"One more time. Double or nothing. I will bet you the district I just won for my lambchop back and your donut slaves!"

She tilted her head towards Ike silently telling him to watch her for cheating.

Rupel never cheated at card games, she just had really good beginner's luck and was remarkably good at maintaining an impassive face when needed.

She agreed to a second game. It went a little faster than the first since she now had a better grasp of the rules and such, and her beginner's luck held out; she was dealt some rather useful cards.

Winning the second time around, Rupel allowed herself the faintest bit of a smile, but was trying hard not to seem smug or impolite about the victory.
