"Doctors have more than one patient Mokuba," Hiroto chimed in, "he's just as likely to be focusing on someone else whose so bad off as he is your brother." Mokuba obviously blanched, and Hiroto winced, feeling like an idiot. He should just be quiet when he's obviously too distracted to be helpful.

((Haha, do it! Seto will be good... twisted ))

"Jou!" Hiroto exclaimed, surprised and relieved that he had just shown up here. "I was waiting for you to call back, but this is better, how are things at home, your dad ok?" He was trying to be as subtle as possible, and although it probably seemed callous to shift the subject off of Kaiba right now, he wanted to make sure Jou was alright as well. He didn't get too much more than a nod before they were interrupted again, this time by the physician they'd all been waiting for.

"Sorry to keep you all waiting," chief of staff Yamada announced as he strolled into the room. "There was a crisis in urgent care," noting the horrified expressions, "not with Kaiba-san, a different matter. That said, Kaiba-san's condition is very serious, and while he should make a full recovery, we still have a difficult stretch ahead of us. The majority of the complications seem to have come from a sort of," he paused to glance at his chart, "exposure to advanced electrical shock, although other injuries are complicating an exact measurement on both primary point of origin and watt intake. Can anyone give me specifics on the nature of the electrical injuries? Exactly where he was attached to the current, information on the amount of voltage generated, or at least where he sustained the injury so we can go inquire into that information, things of that nature?" Yamada finished, looking up at the group of youths assembled before him.

In unison everyone turned and glanced at Jounouchi.

((Hehehe, we'll see won't we? wink

I hijacked the doctor...and named him, you can play with him though. razz ))

"I see," Yamada said, adjusting his spectacles with his right index finger. The story was bizarre and clearly piecemeal, and he thought about asking for further details into the area of why, but he knew that wasn't relevant to his patient. Doing his job was his first priority, satisfying his morbid curiosity about a strange story was not. Thanking the blond man he told them he would let them know when they could see Kaiba-san and bowed out.

"I like him," Hiroto lightly commented, "so see, Kaiba is going to be just fine, that settled I could really use some coffee. This has been one incredibly long morning. Jou want to come with, you look like you could use a refresher as well?" Hiroto really hoped none of the other three would volunteer to accompany him, well he was sure Mokuba would stay planted until he could be moved to where his brother was. Presumptively Anzu and Yuugi wouldn't want to leave him alone, at least that was his plan. He really wanted a few moments alone with his friend just to touch base, find out what happened with his father. However he couldn't do this unless he could get Jou alone.

((Haha, I'm sure it'll work fine. Not too many options after major surgery besides dead - and I would not pick that one - or recovering.

Haha alright, I shall speak for the medical, which makes sense since it's speaking about Seto, haha. xd

Hiroto sighed, slightly irritated as he walked towards the cafe on his own. He decided regardless of his original intention, he could still use the coffee. Or at least use the reprieve from that stifling room. He wasn't sure if Jounouchi had completely missed the hint, or was just prioritizing filling Mokuba in. He understood, but it still left him frustrated. He'd spent all morning worried and confused, he kind of wanted to know what was going on with his friend. However he'd already heard the majority of what had happened to Kaiba earlier, so he didn't need to stand around for that half of the story. He'd just have to patient he supposed. Unless he wanted to just stroll on over to Jounouchi Tetsuo's abode and check on the man himself. He paused in front of the espresso machine, pondering. He could do that, tell the others he had to run home for a minute and then head off to the lower half of the city. He'd feel terrible snooping around like that, and he was sure Jounouchi would fill him in eventually. Patience was a virtue he finally decided, a really annoying virtue. So he headed back to the waiting room with his drink in hand, he just hoped Kaiba would wake up or improve soon. Not to sound like a selfish b*****d, but he'd definitely like to get back to his non-Kaiba Seto-centric life asap.

Hiroto stepped back in the room, revealing Yamada close at his heels.

Clearing his throat, Yamada stepped around Hiroto, mainly focusing on Mokuba as he announced, "Seto is stable, and while not at the moment conscious, the five of you can go in to see him now."

Generally hospital policy would not allow that many visitors into ICU at once, however nobody on the board was going to raise complaints against exceptions being made for Kaiba Seto, one of their most generous donors. Had Kaiba-san been awake he would have just let Mokuba go in alone initially, certain that the younger brother at least would want that time. However Seto wasn't awake, and he probably wouldn't be waking up anytime soon, so it seemed kinder to give Mokuba a network of support, at least until his brother regained consciousness.

"There is a call button in the room and a nurses desk just outside if you need me or any other assistance. I will come round and check on you all shortly," he brushed his bangs back and looked around at the crowd who still hadn't moved before remembering, "ah, sorry. You will find Kaiba-san on the next floor, room UG07, immediately past the doors to ICU."

He smiled gently as the mob took off hurriedly past him, nodding politely to the sporadic thanks and smiles thrown his way.

Hiroto was the last one into the room, and he watched with bemusement and pity as Mokuba all but hurled himself onto his brother's bed. He was also fairly certain Kaiba slightly twitched, but that was probably just from the zealous kid bumping against the bed.

The first thing Seto was aware of was that the blinding pain was gone, although there was still plenty of residual pain left over. Second, he noticed the fact that he couldn't really move or open his eyes, his entire body was suffering massive fatigue. Though he was fairly certain he was awake. He could hear voices, one of which was he was certain belonged to his younger brother. If he could have sighed he would have, he really didn't want Mokuba to have to deal with this, he'd strangle the idiot he felt it was a good idea to notify the kid, especially with Seto still unconscious. He'd do more than strangle them if the call had been made while he was fairly certain he was going to die, Mokuba did not need to deal with that. It was probably that idiot Jounouchi, he probably figured he was helping. He had better not have told Mokuba anything else about last night.

Thinking on Jounouchi, he recognized that as one of the voices behind Mokuba's, as well as Yuugis. The other two voices probably belonged to their non-duelist fan club. Lovely, the loser squad had surrounded him in his weakest moment. Life really couldn't get any worse.

"He's a tough kid, and Kaiba will be fine eventually right?" Hiroto declared, tried to sound encouraging. It's not that he didn't want to stand around in a circle worrying about Kaiba Seto - well, he didn't - it just didn't seem at all beneficial to the situation.

((Well Hiroto is acting like a petulant brat, Tetsuo is indisposed, Yamada is momentarily elsewhere...I'd rather be in Seto's head...though I suppose that spirit is still hanging around here somewhere. wink ))

Hiroto's thoughts were along the same vein as Jounouchi's, Yuugi had a serious case of whatever the opposite of trust issues might be. He decided to make another play for Jounouchi's attention when the room was suddenly distracted by a light groan behind them, followed by Seto slowly opening his eyes and glancing around the room.

Seto glanced at the familiar, and unwelcome - save for his brother's, though even he wasn't particularly welcome in this situation and environment - faces. Exactly as he feared, the entire geek squads assembled. He should have remained unconscious.
