Kanti smiled back and licked Sanoskue’s muzzle. “My pack is on the other side of the village down in the valley. We’ll have to be really careful, the humans probably aren’t happy that I’ve disappeared, there’ll be traps everywhere,” she said nervously. “Stick close ok?”

Sanoskue smiled, "Don't worry, we'll be fine."

“Then let’s go.” Kanti began to walk through the snow, down towards the river, grateful to have Sanoskue with her.

Sanoskue followed after her, not to close, but not to far either.

Kanti paused at the river, dipping her head to take a drink of the ice-cold water and watching Sanoskue from the corner of her eyes. “Sanoskue, you don’t have to come you know,” she said softly.

Sanoskue stood next to her and also drank some water, "Don't be silly, of course I do." He said.

Kanti chuckled. “You say that now, but wait ‘til you meet my dad and sisters. You’ll be lucky to escape,” she teased. Swiping her tail playfully across Sanoskue’s nose, she focused her energy and leapt across the water. She almost made it, falling short by a foot (literally) as her back leg slipped into the river and she had to pull it out and shake off the excess water.

Sanoskue chuckled and easily lept the distance, landing next to Kanti with a smile, "I'm sure I can handle it."

Kanti licked his muzzle and smirked. “You have to make it there first. And to make it there you have to keep up…” She licked his muzzle again, then took off, racing through the snow.

Sanoskue ran after her, but he just couldn't keep up, "Kanti! Slow down a bit!" He called, struggling to keep up.

Behind her, Kanti heard Sanoskue pleading for her to slow down and she smiled, pleased. His slightly heavier body mass meant Sanoskue sank into the snow with every step, while Kanti was just light enough to not break the thin sheet of icy crust on the snow when she ran over it. Laughing she stopped until Sanoskue caught up, panting heavily. “Told you I’m the swiftest,” she barked, hardly winded at all.

Sanoskue almost collapsed, trying to catch his breath, he was built for power, not speed. While he could run fast in short bursts, he wasn't built to run long distances like Kanti. "I...Never...Dissagreed." He said between breaths.

“Aww, are you okay love?” Kanti asked, sounding concerned but still slightly smiling.

Sanoskue licked her muzzle, "Yea, just a little winded."

Kanti smiled and nuzzled Sanoskue’s cheek. “Okay, I’ll go slower,” she said with a slight chuckle.
