looking up, she blinked and rubbed her eyes. "r-really...?" she mumbled, only to smile and hug him close.
"thank you thank you thank you!" she sighed, visibly relaxing the longer she hugged him.

Arcs, huh? Funny, I'm reading a story that does that kind of thing. Arcs it is.

A soft chuckle came from Chaos as he returned the hug. In this hug, he recalled the time they were at the inn's diner, where he thought of a child he had and the relative she mentioned. Well, it seems not all your prophecy's are bad, Cybil, he thought with a smile hidden behind his mask.

"So that's where it's been." Chaos murmured to himself as he looked off towards a hill. He stood at the plains, letting the wind toy with his white and gray-tipped hair along with the grass, his frost blue eyes towards a cave-like structure above the hill. "A powerful place to be overlooked..."

standing beside him, the child blinked. "....what is it?" she mumbled, tipping her head as she gazed at it curiously

"A very important item." he answered then glanced down at her. "Have you ever heard of dimensions, Cybil?" he asked.

Cybil remained silent for a minute as she tried to recall having ever heard anything about dime-
Wait.... Yes.... There was one time. With that scandalous woman...
"I was told briefly of them once. But it was confusing..." She finally uttered after a long and strenuous five minutes.

"The dimensions are a form of life, a different life style for a different dimension." Chaos explained as simply as he could. Really, though, there was no way to fully explain such a thing. "There are literally thousands of them, but thirteen main ones. Each dimension is connected to each other, to this dimension, we find our connections to the others through paranormal phenomena, such as 'ghosts'. These connections dimensions share provide a type of pathway between their inhabitants." He nodded in the direction of the cave. "What lies in that cave is the pathway between all dimensions. A gateway, if you will."

she blinked, looking up at him. "so, its.... a door?" she asked softly, tilting her head to the side." a door of dimensions?"

Chaos turned his head, a smile hidden behind his mask and his eyes twinkling with it. "Precisely." he said until a loud booming sound echoed through the cave, causing dust to shudder down. He turned back quickly and saw a demonic being - a furry and very toothy creature - charge into the forest with a howl. "It's because it's the center-point for all dimensions that I, along with few others, appointed guardians to watch over it and make sure nothing destructive could pass. As you can see, though, the recent guardian has passed on, but she made sure to create something that would camouflage it from predators."

"is that why it looks like a cave?" She asked softly, her feet involuntarily taking a few steps forward as something inside it pulling her closer.

Wasn't that what the last arc was?

Chaos nodded, cautiously watching Cybil advance towards the cave. He didn't blame her for walking towards it, the - What did she call it? A door? - held immense power and could easily attract anyone. Besides, he needed to go towards it anyway and inspect what was causing so many releases.

pausing for a moment, the girl blinked as a small object just big snough to fit in her palm rolled out of the door and straight towards her. Picking it up, she smiled softly and looked at him. ".... A marble?" She asked softly, holding it out for him to see.
the marble wasn't too spectacular, just a small round hunk of glass the shade of the night sky; it glimmered softly in the sunlight as if it held a star within.

"It appears so." the masked man agreed from besides her. Chaos, having followed Cybil into the cave, tilted his head back and looked at the door. It was an enormous, rusty door about twenty-five feet high and ten feet wide. It was split in two and had unusual symbols on it. His frost blue eyes moving upward, Chaos noticed the ceiling of the cave and the walls that arched over the doors. On the arches were thousands of what appeared to be words, some with English characters, some with international, and some with untraceable characters. The words themselves would move and change letters, each 'word' giving the title of one of the many dimensions inside the door.
Feeling uneasy about how close Cybil was to the door, Chaos reached out and gently pulled her away as a parent would when their child was around a stray animal. "Come along, Cybil." he murmured. "Let's return home." he said, remembering the bar Cybil's late guardian once owned. It had been rebuilt some years ago, and served nicely for business and a home for the girl. Coincidentally enough, the doors were on the outskirts of the town the bar was at.

nodding, Cybil placed the marble lightly in her pocket and took his hand. "Okay...." She mumbled with a yawn, glancing up at the moon with a pout. Always had to ruin her fun.... She never got to stay up late!!!

The walk to the town took about an hour, and in that time Chaos put Cybil on his shoulders and told her a story he once heard about how darkness became night and light became day.
Once they reached the bar, Chaos gave the current owner, another entity of darkness that served him, a short nod then went up the stairs to Cybil's room. He tucked her into the bed and stroked her hair, his substitution for a kiss on the forehead since his mask blockaded any of his facial features except for the eyes and ears. "Sweet dreams, Cybil." he said soothingly before standing up straight and turning around to leave.

"gnight, daddy...." she mumbled, rolling over and instantly diving into a dream.
in her dream, she was playing with the new-found marble, rolling it in her hands and tossing it. unfortunately, her marble seemed to have a mind of its own as she dropped it and it rolled out of her room and out towards the back entrance. Cybil chased after it in both her dream world and the real one, following it through the nearly empty streets, out of town, down winding paths all the way back through the forest until she was back at the Door.
she had an uneasy feeling now, but her marble had rolled inside the Door! she had to get it back! lifting her feet, the young girl took two steps inside the Door, and instantly fell to her knees with her head in her hands as a powerful vision hit her.
