Delia realized the flaw in her plan and laughed at herself for even suggesting such a thing. It would be nice to enjoy some nice home cooked meals once in a while though, the only problem was how. She sat there for a moment in midthought, still smiling at the idea of making something together. When her crafty side came out, she really did want to go all out with whatever endeavor she was planning. She made a mental note to cook something special for him just for the hell of it, when and if that would ever be possible.

When she looked at him and smiled, she noticed his staring and felt her cheeks growing warmer by the second. She glanced behind her then subconsciously touched her face. "What? What is it?" A chocolate brown coil of hair fell in her eyes as she fumbled to figure out what he was gazing at.

Jac blinked when she spoke, pulling back slightly and sitting up strait. "Wha- er, nothing, I was um, I- there was a strange looking bird. Flew by the window. I was trying to figure out what it was." He stammered. He searched for something to say to quickly change topic. "So what do YOU do in your free time?" He asked, remembering she had asked him that to begin with. He yawned, shaking his head at the end to knock the sleepy feeling that came with it away and waited for her reply.

Delia's brows crinkled and she turned around to look out the window. There was no bird, just lots of multicolored leaves cascading down to from the trees that canopied the sky above the building. She frowned in confusion, but said nothing of it. His excuse was plausible, though she could have sworn he was staring directly at her. Shrugging, she turned back to him. "I like to read. Comics and stuff usually. You probably don't know but I used to be a total geek. Ah, well, still am, but yeah... I like comics and books and poetry and bike riding." Hearing the words come out of her own mouth, she felt a little bit like a kid again, spewing stuff about herself to the class.

"Oh. Nice..." Jac was still at a sort of loss for words. He turned his attention to the tv, in hopes of hiding his sudden feeling of awkwardness. The typical romance was happening on screen, the woman in tears for some reason and the man holding her close. Though it was the typical scene, the cinematography was rather well done for a weekly show.

There came a knock at the door and Jac stood, pulling his wallet out of his pocket. He opened the door and greeted the pizza guy, "That was pretty fast." He said as he took the pizza and set it on the counter, then paid the guy. "I don't need any change. Thanks." He closed the door and went to the pizza, then realized he had no plates. He shrugged and brought the whole pizza over and sat by Delia. "Bon appetite." He said opening the box.

Delia watched him carefully as he went to answer the door. Immediately, the smell of fresh, hot pizza found its way to her and she sighed contently at the sight of it. It reminded her how hungry she was, even though her mind hadn't been on food in the past few minutes. She watched him realize he lacked plates or any kind of silverware at all, and couldn't help but to smile a little bit. "Thank you." She reached into the box and pulled out a thin slice of pizza. The first bite was delectable, yet another local food establishment she'd have to buy from again sometime. Speaking of.. "Remind me to pay you back," she added before taking another scrumptious bite of the pizza. One of the mushrooms slid off the side of the pizza and fell into her lap. Laughing quietly at herself, she snatched up a tissue from the tissue box on the table and cleaned the little mess up.

Jac took a piece of pizza after Delia did, biting into it. The cheese was still soft and melted, so when he pulled the slice away from his mouth, the cheese slid off and hung by his teeth. He set the now saucy pizza slice down on the lid of the box and shoved the cheese into his mouth, wiping up the mess on his chin. That's when Delia spoke and took Jac by slight surprise. His mouth still full, he responded. "Pah me bock? Fo wott?" He asked with stuffed cheeks.

Delia looked at his stuffed cheeks and burst out laughing, unable to control her amusement. He looked like a little kid, and yet there was a part of her that was relieved he was just as messy as she was. "For the pizza," she replied with a giggle, taking another bite of her slice. He'd already treated her to lots of other stuff on top of the pizza, even when, she assumed, he probably didn't want to. Then again, it could be pay back for all the stuff she'd done for him. Maybe this made them even. She found it hard to stop smiling, even as she ate.

Jac's face flushed when she burst out laughing, turning away to finish his mouthful. He wiped his face with a napkin that came with the pizza and tried to find his dignity before facing Delia again. "Don't worry about it." He said waving his hand and grabbing his cheeseless slice of pizza, "It's not like I bought you a car or something." He said with a smile, taking a smaller bite of the food so as not to repeat the hilarious embarrassment.

He had two more pieces of the pizza before he decided he had his fill, leaving the rest for however much more Delia wanted. Jac ate fast, he was used to having to. Either he was on a job, or on the run. Those two lifestyles kept you doing most everything fast. He sat back, feeling a bit strange at not having to get up and go somewhere right after eating. He did not have a drop, or a mugging to do. He was technically on the run, but he was more hiding out than actually running. For the first time, he could let his food settle after eating, and it was a strange, yet satisfying feeling. He leaned against the bed and smiled slightly, enjoying the residual taste in his mouth. "Oh! I forgot about the soda!" He had eaten his fill with nothing to drink, which also was not unusual, but now he wanted it. Luckily, there were still some foam cups left from house keeping to go with the coffee machine. He took them and poured two cups, coming back and handing one to Delia.

Delia giggled again at the shade of color his face turned in embarrassment. She smiled but said no more about the subject and ate another piece of pizza in silence. It was funny, she was the opposite of him, always living in leisure and able to eat as slow as she wanted. She could eat fast if she wanted to, but she didn't usually prefer it. So when she saw how fast he ate up his bit of pizza, she was a little surprised.

She took the cup of soda. "Thanks. Y'know, I guess this makes up for all the crazy stuff I've been doing for you," she teased him with a smile.

Jac sipped his soda, thinking about what she just aid. He nodded with a smile in response, but it was a bigger deal than just pizza. By sewing his wound, she saved him a great deal of pain, and by cutting his hair, she was helping him stay unrecognized. He ran his hand through his freshly cut hair. It felt strange to him, having been used to feeling his longer hair fall over his fingers. How it felt as if he were running his hand over a fine, soft bristle brush. "Thanks by the way, for all of the 'crazy stuff' you've done for me." He said grinning at her.

Delia watched the handsome lines of his face deepen with his smile. His grin was heartwarming, to say the least; she could practically feel the gratitude emanate from his perfect smile. Silently scolding herself for thinking such things, she did her best not stare but maintain her usual smile. "You're welcome," she replied, "I live to serve. Or at least I try to anyway." She paused, lingering on the thought for a moment. "You... I mean.. you're safe here, right? I mean, I don't want you to get hurt again or.. or something..." To cover up the fumble in her words, she took another long gulp of soda. The carbonation tickled her throat as it went down.

Safe... What was safe anymore? "Yeah. I'm safe here." He told her, but he honestly wasn't sure. The missing person add in the paper was proof that he was not completely safe here, but he was a whole lot safer here than back at Inland. As long as he kept a low profile, he thought he would be fine. However, he did not want to live in a motel room for very much longer. He needed another job.

he looked at Delia, thinking about what it would be like to live a life like hers. To go to school and be successful... Going back to school, now there was something he never expected to be thinking about. Wait! His eyes lit up as a thought came to him. If I would never think of going to school, no one else would either! His eyes focused again and found he had been looking at Delia throughout his whole revelation. "Hey Delia... I um, .. I never finished high school... and I was thinking maybe I should try and get back into school..." he trailed off, wondering exactly what he was going to ask.

Delia was relieved to hear him say it, even if she still wasn't sure she could believe it. After seeing his name in the news, well, it kind of spooked her. She wanted to do everything in her power to keep him safe, but that notion was so ridiculous, she couldn't keep her mind on it for too long. She opened her mouth to say something, but snapped it shut when she saw the realization in his eyes. She scooted closer to him and looked at, him tempted to snap her fingers in front of his face to snap him out of it. When he spoke, however, she relaxed, and smiled a little at his suggestion.

"I think that's a great idea," she replied, her lips pulling up into a smile. "How were you thinking of going about it?" She wondered what he was getting at, but at the same time, the thought of him genuinely wanting to go back to school made her happy.

"Well I... I..." He sat back again, looking at the wall. "I don't know actually." He had never really done anything school related in his life. His mother had taken care of enrolling him in school, and then his father for high school. But how hard could it be? "I guess just go to a school and sign up right?" No, wait. "Or am I supposed to be accepted into a place first?" If that was the case, he could throw this entire idea out the window. His confusion and fall of confidence was apparent on his face.

She couldn't help but to smile sympathetically as she watched him try and figure out what to do. "Most schools will probably assess you on your knowledge and whatnot, and from there they'll figure out what classes you should take. It's not that fancy, really. Everyone has a chance to do something, contrary to what you may think." She searched his face, hoping to see those lovely eyes of his light up with hope again. To think that he actually wanted to continue his education.. it was a nice thought. It would certainly help him get back on his feet. And if he went to her school, well, that would certainly be interesting.
