Julian blinked at Daniel's movements. He paused for a second, listening to what he had to say, then softened and turned around to face him. "Hey, I'm not going anywhere, okay?" he insisted, smiling tenderly at him. "It's going to take a lot more than just a bullet to take me out. Calm down, will you?" he asked and pecked the blonde on the lips.

"Oh shush, you," he chuckled, fingers stroking up and down the slightly elder male's back. "My fears are reasonable." A thought suddenly occurred to him of their childhood, an ancient fear recalled. "Do you remember when we were kids, and I told you that I was afraid of being an unsung anti-hero like my father?"

"What, like afraid of being a feared and despised villain? Yeah, so what?" he grunted while leaning against him.

"No," he said quietly, shaking his head. "Like afraid of being a good man, but seen as evil for what I have to do." He sighed, closing his head and setting his head down. "Forget I said anything."

"You think your dad's good?" Julian asked and glanced up at Daniel.

Daniel reopened his eyes and smiled down at Julian. "Of course. He took in a bratty kid with a dead father, a dying mother, and a ***** of a stepfather, along with a bossy little pop star who didn't mind being a mother to me. He loved me as his own, took me under his wing as a son and an apprentice, and if that isn't a good man, I don't know what is. He just so happens to be a killer, too. Your dad's a good man, too." He sighed deeply, then leaned down to kiss Julian's forehead. "Don't you think?"

"Nope." Julian said without hesitation, or even any sadness. "My dad's a killer, simple as that. He loves seeing people die and he loves their dead bodies even more, or at least used to. The only reason he's a cop is so he can hide all the evidence pointing to him, and he has me and mom because he liked how we killed. Sure he loves us, but I don't think that alone makes him a good guy." He laced his fingers above his chest. "'S alright, though. I never cared about being a good guy or not. I don't care about those labels, just as long as I'm fine."

"Eh, well, for what it's worth, I don't think I'd love you as much as I do if you weren't good," he chuckling, rubbing Julian's back. "And I do, by the way. Love you, I mean."

"I should hope you love me, otherwise I'd be pretty upset right now!" Julian laughed. He sobered up quickly and looked at Daniel more seriously. "You really think I'm good? Even after all those people I've killed?"

"Of course," he said, reaching up to brush hair from Julian's face. "I've always thought you were good, Julian."

Julian stared at Daniel for a moment before snorting and looking away. "Man, you're too good." he said. "I think you're the only good one out of all of us, and you're just trying to see the good in us. You should be an officer instead of an assassin. Then again, there aren't many good officers anymore, either."

"Stop that!" he laughed, sitting up a bit. "I'll have you know that I really enjoy my job. Being an assassin is one of the only things I can do right."

"I'm just sayin' that it's weird!" Julian drawled. "You've got this strong sense of justice, and yet here you are, training to be one of the most infamous murderers in the entire world! They should call you The Hypocrite instead of The Nightingale." he laughed. Before Daniel could be given a chance to retaliate, Julian leaned in and kissed him. "Hey, just spend the night in my room. I don't think your parents will care if you're out for the night." he whispered against the others lips.

"Speaking of my parents, I hope you're coming with me to my mom's celebration thing tomorrow," he chuckled, reaching downt o pull the blanket up. "You better not be letting me go alone. You do remember what happens when I get stuck around my mom's friends, right?"
