Shocked to find the toadstools again so quickly, Bren looked up at them with relief, failing to notice that he was slowly sinking. It took him a little under a minute to pull himself out, and he was definitely winded when he had done so.

No matter how ninja Ignatius was trying to be, that spike pit really wanted to get a bit closer to him, and it would find a way to do so.

Very mutely, really. Ignatius enjoyed adventures, but he didn't necessarily enjoy repetition.

He did step completely through into the town this time. Maybe he hoped he would get lost there for a time. That would have been exciting. But all that happened was that the portal back to the forest gleamed dully while he looked over the shell of a school.

Really, he wanted to be the swashbuckling hero, the one that swept in after a long, hard battle, and finished the enemies off with a mighty blow that would leave the others starry-eyed.

This, on the other hand, was more of a grind, and there was a place for that, but it wasn't really what Ignatius thought of when he thought of adventures. At least, not adventures that he personally wanted to go on.
