Amon the Warmage

PostPosted: Wed Apr 30, 2008 8:19 am
Amon saw the attack coming, but instead of evading as would have been expected, he pulled one his shamshirs from under his cloak. He parried the blow and instead of pulling away slid the blade down the blade he had just blocked. This was a slightly more advanced move, but he figured if he was going to test this man he wouldn't be able to just stick to basics. he also came in low with the greatsword. He hoped that this would throw off the man slightly, leaving an opening for a better attack.

Calintz smirked as he saw Amon draw one of his shamshirs and parry his blow. “A nasty trick.” He muttered as he whipped his sword to the side, pushing Amon’s blade away as well as his. He then locked his legs as he stabbed his blade into the ground to block the low attack from the man’s greatsword. “Limited to what you can do with that, aren’t you?” He teased, has he nodded toward the huge greatsword. He grinned as brought his right boot up and kicked toward Amon’s stomach.

(Greeting everyone, I'm not yet officially joining this RP yet but thought it good to post my profile incase someone notices I messed up a part of it, I'm still on book 5 but half way done. I look very forward to joining the adventure when I feel I know enough or finish my current book. Also, this lets me know if any of the other people RPing think I made my character too strong)

Name: Yondiame
Age: 35
Gender: Male
Appearance: See picture for most. He used to wear his tride's traditional garments but he picked up some different clothing later on as he traveled and made some himself. His eyes have lost their color, leaving only the parts that allow him to see.

Personality: Protective, secretitive, watchful, cunning, easy going, and somewhat knowledgable
Family: Doesn't talk about them since his banishment.

History: Yondaime was once a proud warrior of the Majendie untill he was banish for almost causing war among his people and the Baka Ban Mana (Don't know if the name has changed or not). He was sent to deliever some supplies to the Bakas guarding one of the Towers of Perdition, when he heard a voice calling out to him. It was as if he was being pulled to the tower, when he entered, the voice directed him into a room with a scroll and book inside it. The book was written in a language he had never seen before but he could understand it, it talked about an ancient power that was used to sneak into enemy territory, kill a leader or official, and leave without so much as a scratch, he didn't think it possible for this to be but he couldn't stop himself from reading on. When he finished reading, the opened the scroll, it contained symbols and more words that told of items both rare and easy to find. He stuffed the book and scroll into his pack and left the tower but was stopped by a guard of Bakas, they returned him to his tribe and told the Queen Mother what he had done. He was banished from his people and was threatened with death should he ever return. Since then, he has lived in the New World, traveling from place to place looking for work and a living. When he found a place to camp along the Wilds, he opened the book and scroll he had found, amazingly the Bakas and Majendie didn't see it among his things, and started to reread it. After a few minutes, he started to make sense of some of it and got out a piece of meat, a wolf tooth from his necklace, and his knife. He cut his arm a little and let the blood get on the tooth then placed it on the meat, he closed his eyes and chanted a sentence. When he reopened his eyes, he was closer to the ground, he ran to a nearby lake, he was somehow faster, and looked into the lake. He was shocked to see what he was, a wolf. As the years passed, he pefected this power he had found, able to take on the forms of many other creatures and control the forms at will, at least changing back into his true self. He now searches for someone to him understand what it is he was born for, why he was the only one who could see the book and the scroll, and for a meaning to the voices he still hears in his head.

Likes/Dislikes: Likes- Fruit, nature, camping, flying as a bird, running as a wolf, and crafting from the hides and teeth he collects from the beasts he hunts. Dislikes- Majendie for banishing him, battles, and Sisters of the Light and Dark.

Other: He calls his power transformation or shape shifting, his favorite is the long-tailed gar due to its capibility to be a fierce fighting form, the tail only makes it more dangerous. The mriswith cloak and other items seem to appear whenever he changes, it takes a few tries to get the desired forms like a mriswith, gar, and some for changing into a different person, he has even changed into guards to get by check points and such. After a while, the power forces him to rest, to him, its like he's been running all day up a steep hill.

It was now Amon's turn to smirk. This man thought him limited in his use of the greatsword with only one hand. He would just have to shatter that thought. He had trained a long time just to be able to wield it effectively. He spent even more time learning to use the thing as effectively with just one hand. He saw the kick coming before it had even truly begun. He side stepped quickly, deciding this would be the defining moment for the man standing in front of him. He swung round with the greatsword in a crippling backhanded slash at Calintz's head. Before this had even begun to connect he threw a low slash at his knees with the shamshir. He refused to lose this match. He would have first blood. A thought that seemed so natural to him that the alarms in his head remained silent as he grew more and more engrossed in this battle.

Calintz kept his grin as Amon went for a backhand slash of his head. He let go of the sword he had stabbed in the ground, and grabbed the front of Amon’s cloak as he fell forward on purpose, kicking himself in the air. He felt the blades slash by, the greatsword catching some of his hair and the shamshir hitting his steel toe boots. His feet came down, pinning the sharshir to the ground as Calintz hastily pulled himself up by Amon’s cloak, his other sword in hand. He whipped around Amon, pressing his back against his, tapping the flat of his blade over his own shoulder against Amon’s shoulder. “Hmm...You drew a bit of blood.” He said, feeling a bit of his own blood on the back of his neck. He nicked Amon’s cheek with his sword, drawing some blood. “There, now that’s fair.” He said, his back still pressed against Amon’s back. Though he had drawn his hunting knife and was pressing it gently against Amon's side, his remaining short sword tapping their shoulders lightly.

Amon began to feel the bloodlust take over his mind that he had guarded so well for the past few years. He should have noticed this but was to engrossed in that battle to care. He needed to take his mind away from the thought of the blood, but he couldn't. He continued in his attacks at the man, moving quickly away from the blades that rested on his flesh. He resheathed his greatsword and threw a knife that the man in front of him. He rushed in behind it, drawing his other shamshir with ease to attack with a syncronized upward and downward slash.

"Hmm? Bloodlust, and bit of magic..." He muttered feeling it in the air, has the thought of blood took of his opponent's mind. He wasn't sure if it was from Amon or from someone watching though. He stood his ground and drew the sword he stabbed into the ground early. He hit the throwing knife easily away with his sword, but would be unable to turn around in time to meet Amon's second attack. A bit of magic, he thought, and focused. Just as Amon's blades were about to hit they were parried away by two swords coming out of his back. Hands holding the handles of the blades appeared, and with them arms. Eyes opened in the back of Calintz's head and looked at Amon, then stepped completely out of him. Calintz turned around grinning next to his clone. "Amon, meet myself. Myself, meet Amon." He teased, both held their two short swords at the ready.

(Hooray, 5 more chapters and it's on to book 6, Faith of the Fallen)

Yondiame was sitting up in a tree reading his book and checking his scroll, he had read them both hundreds of times, always coming back to one part or another as though he had missed something important. His stomach had been growling for about an hour now, he finally gave in and jumped off the tree then put his book and scroll away, "I wonder what it will be today? Maybe fish or rabbit?" he said to himself as he took out a patch of wolf's hide, his necklace of bones, and a hunting knife. He put the knife to his arm and made it bleed, then rubbed the hide on it, like he was cleaning it, and placed a tooth on it. He closed his eyes and chanted an incantation, then, like many other times in the last 7 years of his banishment, took the form of a wolf and started his hunt for food.

Hack couldn't help but watch with a smirk on his face as Amon and Calintz dueled. Though it seemed to him that what started as a harmless practice session between two warriors was now turning into a full-fledged battle. It was difficult to tell in the dark, but Hack could swear that some of the attacks might actually be drawing blood.

He watched silently as magic joined the fight when Calintz used his Doppelganger technique. Things could get serious. It was pointless for anyone to get hurt when they were so close to the People's Palace.

Hack's attention snapped to the figure standing on the ledge looking down on Amon and Calintz. It was Zedd. When did he get there? Hack had been watching the whole time and there had been no one there a moment ago. In the span of a blink, the old man had appeared over-looking the two warriors, and it looked as if he wasn't happy. He stood unmoving, with his hands firmly on his hips staring down at the two of them.

Knowing Zedd would probably not be happy, he turned and scanned the land around their post again. If anything invaded while they were all pre-occupied with foolish antics, they were going to get in a lot of trouble. Hack knew better than to try the patience of a wizard -- and the First Wizard at that. Everything seemed quiet and motionless beyond the outpost. But the sounds of blades rang clear through the night air. If there was anyone or anything out there, it would hear them from a long ways away.

Darken stepped out into teh night, his face an emotionless mask that many in the First File had come to fear. He walked out, following teh sounds of blads on blades. He stopped, and looked back and forth between the three- No, the two of them. Yes, one of the two had two bodies now, but it was still one person.

"Now," he began, "I am very tired, and I am trying to sleep. So, there are two ways we can go about this. The easy way, and the very easy way. The easy way is where you stop now, start taking watches, and get some rest for riding out tomorrow. The very easy way is where you make me come down there and put you to sleep. Of course, that means instead of resting, I have to take your watch shifts. This would make me very upset. I'd like to take this second to remind you that I'm the one in charge of the Rahl's security. So if you ever want to be able to so much as be allowed to guard as place they might go, you'll make very, very sure we don't have to do things the very easy way. Understand?"

Darken puts his thumbs in his belt, and looked at the two of them. Steel against steel? He gave an inward sigh. Amon had, until now, proved so dependable, too.

After spending about 2 hours searching for food, and the hunger of his growing by the step, Yondaime decided he had no choice but to use his supply of meats he kept for emergency. This supply came from rare animals, some long since banished, forgotten, or exstinct. He took his time getting back, after all, not many really went to the People's Palance, some still feared the mysteries of D'Haran and their Lord Rahl, as he heard. As he approached his small camp, he heard something about half a mile off, steel hitting against itself in unmeasured beets, like fighting of some short.

Rather than shed his already used spell, he grabbed his bag by his teeth and swung it over on his back. He then slid his front legs through the straps, most would think this a hard thing to do, but he had practiced this many times while fleeing from attackers. He ran toward the sound, making sure to keep hidden in the grass and behind trees. He soon came upon a the camp, there were only a few around that he could see: two who look the same; a man with a broad sword; a floating man, no dout a wizard; and a man calling out orders. He waiting behind a tree to hear more, in his wolf form his hearing was almost twice that of normal people.

Calintz turned and tilted his head at Darken, then nodded. His clone, who was facing Amon, began to change into something like dust, then disappeared. Calintz sheathed his swords and picked his hunting knife up to sheath it as well.

Calintz realized, as he was sheathing his weapons, that their sparing had grown into something more then that. If they had continued one of them would either be injured badly, or worse, killed. He was unsure as to who it would be injured, Amon had approved as well as he himself did. He regarded the man as an equal now, as before they had both between strangers to each other. “Was that you’re magic I sensed either?” He asked Amon. He had caught a glimpse of Zedd floating in the air earlier, but was to absorb in the fight. He turned and looked around, seeing how dark it had become.

Calintz suddenly frowned as he spotted movement in the forest. The movement was to small to be a person, more likely an animal. He judged that it was about the size of a dog, but it was hard to tell for sure. “Darken! Did this place have guard dogs?” He asked, as he drew one of his swords again before the man had answered. If it wasn’t a dog, it was more likely a wolf. But a lone wolf, and coming this close to humans? That was strange, unlike a wolf.

Zedd glared down at the two trouble-makers from atop the ledge ((not floating in the air stare )). This was exactly the nonsense that they didn't need. He knew the two to be strong warriors skilled in different uses of magic, but they were still young. Apparently discipline was not something either of them had. Start fighting in the middle of the night, nearly killing eachother and alerting anyone and anything nearby to a vulnerable outpost? Not a wise decision.

Zedd watched as the two upstart youngsters quickly ended their little skirmish. With his gift, Zedd noted the movement of something in the woods a ways off. It had stopped when the night had grown quiet again, choosing not to be heard. Calintz seemed to notice it too, though how, Zedd did not know.

"No there are no guard dogs here. It moves like an animal and is not the shape of a human. It is most likely a wolf. Why it isn't with its pack, i cannot answer. But I don't think it means any harm." The man Zedd once knew as Brophy passed through his thoughts. A man that was turned into a wolf after he was touched by Kahlan and found to be innocent. Zedd waved it off. "Now, on the other hand, why are you two here with us? You are hear to protect the family of Richard and Kahlan. Not make us easy targets to passing people or creatures. i suggest you get back to your watch and keep your blades pointed away from each other. Or else, you will have to face a very aggravated and cranky wizard. Good night, gentleman."

Zedd turned on his heel and left the ledge. He followed the stairs back down to the hallway. He found his room and flopped back onto the bed. He heaved a heavy sigh and listened to the quiet of the night. He could still feel the presence on the edge of the woods. It was odd to be sure, but he figured if it was a threat, the "warriors" would be more than capable of eliminating it. He knew they were all too eager to put their blades to use.

(My bad, thought your post said he was floating... I guess given the time of day and that a wolf's eye sight is like a dog's, it could look like he was floating... but I'll read posts more carefully now)

Yondaime watched with eyes and ears, only catching a few sentences and sights, it was somewhat hard to translate words he heard in animal forms into a language he could make out but that was still in the working process of his power. He saw the wizard leaving, the wizard was walking away so he thought he made a mistake about the wizard floating, "Looks like a camp of leaders, or maybe elite guards..." he thought and slid his pack off his shoulder. He didn't know what these people were doing here but he wanted to wait and see if he could find out. If it turned into a fight, he had means to fight.

(By the way, what people are at the camp site? Darken, Calintz, Amon, Zedd... anyone else?)

((lol, sorry about the floating thing. Darken, Calintz, Amon, Zedd, Hack, and the sick soldiers inside the outpost))

Calintz sighed and sheathed his sword again. He walked over to his pack and picked it up, opening it. He dug around inside it until he pulled out a piece of dried meat. Then sat his pack back as he bit into the dried meat. He looked around, he couldn't see the shape anymore.
