I was confused by one part while I was reading. You wrote, "I restrained myself. How could he know?"
--I might have just missed something, but as far as I know the story is about Caroline and not you....

Ugh I'm so jealous, I just adore the ending!!!!! It holds a certain irony. When the mother started crying my heart just stopped. Then I felt the same relief, I'm sure, Caroline felt.
