I always wondered, what does Desu mean exactly? I always thought it was a way of being formal or cute or something...

Watashi wa Rainy desu
Ogenkidesuka?

(I'm learning Japanese, my hardest part is properly spelling English-Japanese)


I believe it means I am, because if I were to say Jo desu, I'm saying I am Jo

Uh

That says "I have likeness for my stomach" ...quite literally.

Suki = like

I have hunger is "Onaka ga suiteimasu."

It doesn't mean anything exactly, it just makes your sentence sound more polite. I guess it's hard for English users to grasp, because we don't have anything like that in English. =o It's a verbal form of punctuation, I guess?
