Yeah, thts a good point, people are afraid of 'magical stories' filling the minds of good little christian children-lolz- but what if a christian shows an atheist child the bible-this could seriously damage an impresionable child, make them turn on their parents-,and the parents dislike it. we have rights too, to decide what we feel is god or bad for our families.

I'm all for teaching children values and respect. And what else would you be doing on a Sunday morning? I still think they have the right to choose, the parents to some extent, and the children when they are old enough to decide for themselves. Which is a debate for another time. I think one 'group' that does something like this is called Universal Unitarians. They have music groups come play on Sundays, or Picnics, and different things of that nature on Sundays when other religious types are in church.
I dunno, playing video games? Watch a movie?

Yeah I think I would send my children to somewhere like that.
I don't see the harm in it. They are learning good morals, skills and are socialising.

I would also read them stories on my own. Alongside the childrens books and fairytales I would introduce them to Jesus, Ganesh and Santa. I want to give them all the options so that they can make an informed decision later in life.

That sounds nice, so long as they're emphasizing that it's okay not to believe in a god, and not that there isn't one. I think I'd only have them do that for fun, though, I think it's important for the parents to do that. And since I know that if a way of thinking or belief system is bored into the mind of a child, it will be all the harder for them to change even if they want to, later in life. Children are naturally atheistic, and philosophical questions come later. I want them to think for themselves, so when they start to wonder about the world around them, I'll educate them on all different perspectives. I would just teach them not to be hateful.

I think that as long as they're not doing the same sorts of things they do in Christian Sunday school (i.e. tell them there is one way and they will be punished if they don't believe it), it might be alright. If I ever went completely against my hatred for children and had one, I would make sure to expose it to every religion the world has to offer. I would want my child to be prepared if it were indeed approached by someone with a topic concerning religion or trying to convert them.

I probably wouldn't send my child to anything against its will, as most parents do with Christian Sunday school. I would want it to be fun, so I would give them a choice. Perhaps I'd have them try it once so they could determine how they feel about going there. If they didn't like it, I'm sure I can handle teaching them morals and values by myself.
