Never was a Nu-Metal fan.
Slipknot was one of the reasons, today I have yet to hear a nu-metal band and enjoy it, but I keep trying in hopes.
Nu-Metal was both a time specific genre, and a heavily hip hop influenced genre.
Both of which SlipKnot completely strayed away from.
If anything, SlipKnot is more influenced by Trance and House. Nu metal is usually quote 'metal' with rapping.
SlipKnot doesn't rap and or wear their pants low and sing about the hood.
Fred Durst (Limp Biskit) would be an example of Nu-metal, him c
oming out big in parts of the late 90's and rapping.

I think you've mixed up Rap-Rock with Nu-Metal.
As in Rap-Rock = Old Linkin Park.
And Nu-Metal = Mudvayne.

I have no problem with someone not liking SlipKnot, I just do not like them hating them with no logical basis for their accusations.

But Nu-metal is indeed rap influenced, heavily, err, Hip Hop really.
But IMO, SlipKnot is one of the few bands who shouldn't be attempted to shove into a genre. Their music fuses Blues, Metal, House, and so on and it actually isn't s**t, speaking from a technical stand point. Songs like 'I am Hated' and 'Bother' are just so differant on the ends of the musical spectrum, that I think SlipKnot deserves to keep the Nu-Metal genre label away, with all the negative stigma around it, completely ignoring the fact that they don't fit many, if any, of the Nu metal stereotypes.

But you see that's just what Nu-Metal is.
Rock with bits of Metal, Jazz and Blues.

My reason for not likeing Slipknot, isn't because they are a NU-Metal band.
I don't like their music and it happens to be Nu-Metal, which I don't like any bands within.

Though they don't play rock, I never knew Nu metal included Blues and Jazz. I'll have to look it up soon.

SlipKnot's base genre has always been disputed, but with the up coming album, it'll most likely shift towards Thrash/Death metal, light core death anyway. Kind of like Beth, each album is a new style.

Its a bit harsh to blanket hate Nu-Metal, given Coal Chamber and Pist.On are Nu Metal and quite good actually, though I suppose they are more the exceptions that prove the rule. Though to be honest I thought Nu-Metal was basically Rock, with bits of distortion, synth, rap and sampling, you know, ala Korn, Linkin Park and Static-X

I had one of their older song and in it they had a jazzy bass part within the song.

Couldn't that just be down to the fact Metal has roots in rock and rocks roots lie in the blues and jazz?

Actually. I think black and death metal is the worst for 'im better than you your bands are for n00bs'
Hell.Yes.
Finally.
People need to check the metal sub forum, on any website really, pure snobbery.

They think your' music is s**t if you can understand them and they do more than punch guitars.
Like Behemoth, toted around like teh uber shiz. and they suck.
You know, I honestly seen a whole group, including the metal mods, agreeing that they hate Symphony X now, because they have a album out in Wal-Mart. Before, everyone who was anyone in the metal community worshiped them. Just because a band gets abit popular, doesn't equal instant suck fest. But like Fall out Boy popular, then they suck almost always.

I don't think you've been to many metal forums.

Let's get some thing with some groove that's tight and bad a**, instead of gay up in this.

The closest Slipknot's ever been to metal was in Mate, Kill, Feed, Repeat. After that they have moved more and more to aggressive Hard Rock.
