Shade walked down the streets of what would be a a town called Medford in the state of Oregon, looking around the city that he heard used to be fairly populated, hoping to find more people. Ever since he was a small child, he had been roaming around Medford hoping to find more like him, he had never really known that there was anybody like him other than his sister who died four years ago, after that, he had searched for others. He had no idea of the war between the Black side and the White side, obviously as he had seen no others like him. After four years of searching for others, he was beginning to think he was the only person left alive on Earth, but he remembered that his sister survived, so there must be others out there.

Shade looked down another road, seeing nothing yet again. He was getting tired of being disappointed, so he decided to go home, though there was nobody alive there. He had begun to embark on the journey two miles back to his place, still checking for others that might be hiding from what might have mutated in the area, or worse - the black side, who Shade has never heard of before. He still has no idea that he is even on the white side, he hasn't even had so much as a clue to point him in that direction. He walked about a mile and a half before he thought he had seen something down one of the roads and he darted for it, the fastest he had run in a long, long time. As he ran, he closed his eyes, saying to himself, 'He's a survivor, He's a survivor,' Though it would not change the outcome of reality. His hopes were high that he had actually see somebody walk into an alleyway only halfway down the block, probably too high. He looked down the alleyway and saw nothing, but that didn't stop him from looking more. He walked down the alleyway and looked around the dead-end area for someway to get to one of the roofs, though there was none. He let his drop and he looked at the ground, turning around and walking back to his route home. He looked up every once in a while to look for more, many would say that he was very patient, still searching after four years, and he was, which was very unlike him. He looked into a house and saw some movement. He hesitated, but after some deliberation, he decided to check it out, not getting his hopes quites so high this time. He knocked on the door and waited for whoever was inside to open up, and hoped that if they were in there, that they would be curious enough to see who it was.

The sound of a recorded Revelle echoed through a metalic caticomb. The inside of the metalic caticomb began to hum with life at the sound of the recording as though it was designed to do so. In fact, it had been designed to do so. Lights began to turn on, giving off the hum that florescent lights have.
Before long, a paw reached out to turn off the recording. On the other end of the paw was an anthromorphic dog who was no more than nine years old. She yawned, stretching herself a bit as she got up from her old army cot. "Time for some breakfast," she said to herself, "and then some calithstetics. After that, I'll have to go work on that darned radio satellite. Hopefully this time I can fix it."
Going to her meager mirror, the pup began to brush the fur that she had on her head. It was a messy, short little cut that made her look a little bit like a boy, but she kept it as neatly cut as she could. She didn't want it to get too long for fear that it would get tangled up in the machinery that she loved to tinker with so much.
Around the top of the mirror were several pictures, all of them featuring two anthromorphic adult dogs. One of the dogs was an anthromorphic male Ardale terrier, built very strongly and dressed in military atire in each picture. The other dog in the pictures was a slender anthromorphic female Border terrier, also dressed in military atire. The one in the middle of all the pictures was the male dog, female dog, and what appeared to be an anthromorphic pup. In the picture, the pup had put on a military jacket that was far to big for it, and it stood trying to salute the two older anthromorphic dogs. Below the image was a written message saying, "To my darling wife, Tess, and my little trooper, Freda. Keep your chin up while I'm gone to war. The Black Army shall provale with your undying patriotism. Love, Bruce."
After brushing her hair, the pup looked fondly at the picture. "I'm still a patriot, mom and dad. I'll make you both proud one of these days!" She gave both the images of the dogs a little kiss. "I'm gonna go get breakfast someplace. See ya later."
Little Freda put on her long gone father's jacket, which was still quite big on her, her long gone mother's military "every day" hat, an olive green t-shirt, a pair of dirty white army surgeon's pants with parts of the legs cut off to better fit her, and her tool belt before venturing out into the unknown. After emerging from the metalic chamber, Freda closed what looked like a door. From the outside, her shelter looked like a ramshackle bundle of scrap metal, but it was both practicle and sentmental for Freda. At one time, this was the front line for battle for the Black Army which her family so proudly served. Now it was considered behind enemy lines, but Freda wouldn't give it up. She just hoped that the Black Army would return to find that she had continued to be patriotic.
