the whole reason I ever joined gaia was for the forums and meeting new people on here while trying to get cool items... even when they introduced Fishing I didn't mind, as it was a way for people to earn some extra cash, then they made it so you could have rooms with 6 people in each, so you could chat while fishing, then the casino came in.. great, another way to make some extra cash or get some cool items, I don't mind the games they release here on gaia, that's not what made it bad, that's for sure, and some '03ers and early '04ers have blamed games for the downfall. (I'm a late '04er, joined November 6th 2004)
Anyways... I can't really say exactly what has caused gaia to downfall, but I've noticed the rapid change for the worst, with some many new members daily, you have little preteens coming on here thinking they are so awesome and can just mouth off to whoever they want.
I don't really think it was gaia itself that has become bad, it's just got a lot of annoying, rude members that have joined this last year, and it's no wonder that a lot of us oldbies are so stuck up (well not the right wording.. but we're more, proud, i guess is the word?) If we have to face or come in contact with annoying noobs every day who think they know everything about everything and don't want to listen to reason, it can't be helped if we rip them to shreds.
I think ever since gaia started growing in population, it's just lost it's... familiarity that it once had when I first joined and to be honest, i miss it.

I'm a noob really. I only joined at the beginning of '07 because a buddy of mine was trying to get me into gaia. (Then I forgot my account and had to make a new one. >>; ) What I'm saying is I wasn't here when gaia was apparently good so I'm wondering, should I keep hanging around or just quit while I'm ahead? I don't have the knowledge to predict whether this will get worse or better.

Well I'm not an old user when I joined in. But I do heard some things about those previous years. But now that I've noticed the rapid changes, it's not the same as it used to be. But I'm still on no matter what.

I completely agree. The Cash Shop items cause so much disaster. Most of wich they suck. This leaves the MC's to suck even more. Granite I'm young. But, I have found many rude people. I can understand being with your frind in the towns and swearing. But, some kids are ridiculouse. I met one yesterday who stalked me and was attacking me with insults. Bottom line.

yup i noticed that too. at first i really hated the cash shop cause i didnt have a cash card to buy and i had to buy from the market place which everybody puts such high prices on things. its really annoying. now that i have the gaia cash i dont really plan on spending it on much thats in the cash shop only the monthly colectibles which i think has also gone down hill. there not as good as the old ones. i love demonic and angelic things those are fun. but now its like theres an outfit with the m/c and everybody wants to buy the entire outfit so they waste there money on getting like 7 of the same item. -_-' its sad. when i fisrt found out of this place i was sooo excited but now its not that exciting anymore. i mean from the begging they needed lots more games. but still.

I would have to agree. Gaia, for me, no longer has the kind of appeal it had back when I joined in `05.
There weren't so many 11-12 year-olds running around trying to act all grown-up and pretending to be "the s**t" as there are now. It's hard to find a high-quality thread without reading through posts where every other one is "GIVE ME GOLD!" or "YOU ARE ALL SO STOOPID!"
It is also a shame how all of the older and wiser members are being banned for things like botting. I can't believe how many of them have been wrongfully accused of such a thing and haven't gotten their accounts back! A lot of them have done a lot for Gaia, if not having made it a little better for those of us that joined later on. It's just not right~
Oh god, and now we have the Cash Shop. Seriously, not everyone wants to go out and spend real money on pixels. And now, Gaia puts just about every new item into the Cash Shop. Hello!? Majority cannot get those items without paying insane prices in the MP. Also, since thay are such intricate items, evolving and all that s**t, the prices are unfair to those who have better things to do than spend 100k on some tiny evolution item. Inflation has really hit the MP hard. No, it's not just because of the CS items, but that's not to say they haven't contributed their share to it.
Speaking of the MP, not really sure how I feel about those new rules. No last-minute-bidding, no changing your mind about selling your items and taking it off of bidding. I suppose it isn't fair to have bid quite a bit of gold only to see the owner of the item take the item off bid because they didn't find the amount being bid, fitting~ But on the other hand, it is that person's item. It's their business to do what they want with it, in a way~
As for the "After five minutes, auctions with bidding enabled cannot be canceled" thing, I completly disagree with that. I don't think it is at all a good rule. Let them do what they want with their items. I don't like it that the MP can control things like that.
And what do you guys think about the whole 2% thing in the MP?
It only takes serious affect if the item listed it worth A LOT of gold. If it's like 500g, then it's nothing really. I suppose it all depends on what you want for your item.

Lastly, what's up with all the new MC's? Yeah, I know I'm wearing some myself~ rolleyes But come on! Why have 10 different things for one item? Remember when it was just an item you could equip in ONE way? Those items were awesome! 03's, 04's, & most 05's were this way and thay turned out nicely! No complicated crap, just a simple item. "Click" and it's good to go! The MC's have really lost their luster. I remember waiting every month to see what cool item would come out, only to be disappointed with some stupid boring item. What's up with you item-creators?! Lost your imagination?

YES.
I hate the new design, it makes my computer go so much slower. I only post in guilds now, because the regular forums just make everything more frustarating. The new items aren't fun. I only go on if I am really bored or want to talk about my favourite band because other websites just delete all of the good information. Gaia has taken a nosedive, and I expect it to crash anytime now........

T i f a [ ] From what I've seen, as an active '05er, I'd say it's been going downhill since 2007. The Cash Shop isn't making things better either, so it's continuing to go in a downward spiral. However, this is only my opinion.
On another note, they should be focusing on fixing old problems and such around the site before they start working on new stuff. Adding new stuff just causes new problems that pile up on top of the old ones. [] i have been a member scince o7...and i no that isnt a long time but i can totally see what you are talking about

I don't think gaia should keep a cash shop. I mean, people are just wasting real money for something that isn't even real! they should just make it worth lots o' gold.

a gaia cash shop is fine. if you dont want to pay real money for it use gold. they arent even that expensive when you use gold. and to those who say they miss the holiday events/quests its because the crew is focused on the Battle MMO. Lanzer even announced after the whole 'OMG wheres our easter event!' incident.
overall i think gaia is great how it is and is getting better. people just hate change so that's why they like the 'old times'. the truth is, more and more people are making accounts and gaia has to change in order for it to work.

I think gaia is going down hill. At first I would like camp on gaia, almost all night/day. But now all I do is check for announcments/Pms. And I always come on, right on the 15th just to see what the new MC's were. And when I go to tektek sometimes, there is like items I haven't seen or heard of, either. I mean like theres sooo much new items comming out now, and like gaia is getting like more and more developed, I liked the simple ways way better. Another thing is the inflation caused by Cash Shop items, It is very rediculous, I mean those mythrill coins, that can get you freaking 1mil gold! I mean come on, a newb can join today, get cash trade it in for Gaia cash, buy the "Bag of Win" and miraculously get 1mil gold, or another high insane ammount of gold. While us fellow oldbies, had to work our butts off, just to get ourselves like 20k, and back than you were rich if you had 20k. But now, it has gone down hill, with botts scammers, hackers, and other people that sit in their rooms and make gaia miserable for other people. And also I dont know if its my comp. or gaia but its been really slow, Like I'm on another website and its at a pretty fast resonable speed, than I log onto gaia, and it like slows down and just to log in takes about 1min. I think GAIA should stop advertising and trying to get even more people to come on gaia, because there just gonna be nebs/n00bs, that want your gold/hack/scam/bot. So yeah instead of the marketplace crashing, overall its the site thats soon going to crash. Probably by 2009 according to my estimations, if gaia continues in this same path. The Gaiaonline site crash of 2009 instead of the gaiaonline stockmarket/marketplace crash of 2009.
