Frank Tichelli. Relatively unknown composer, though if you're in band, you either have played or will play his music at one point or another.

So many great composers... Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, Tschaikowsky ~ but my very favorite would Scott Joplin... you can't help but move your feet when you hear it.
I inherited a wonderful book from my grandmother that had the "Classical Periods" and several cd's playing pieces by different composers in different periods. The text proved to be a good beginner's for understanding music I had not appreciated before. My mother listened to the classical and country stations only, thus the lack of respect for the music. She also plays piano, and frequently worked on Scott Joplin's pieces. As ragtime wasn't crammed down my throat as being the only "decent" music, I could enjoy it. It took moving away from home and actually hearing classical music out of her presence that I came to love the music.

"♪♫" Tough choice.
If I'm feeling romantic I prefer Chopin. I am a fan of Bach. Beethoven is classic... and Mozart? Pure genius.
I do love Edvard Grieg!

I probably sound like a classical n00b, but I like Tchaikovsky best. I once took like an hour to play Marche Slav over and over.

My favorite composers are the later ones (compared to Mozart, Bach, etc.), like Richard Strauss, Wagner, Rossini, and Tchaikovsky.

My favorite composer is Ponce. After hearing the composition 'Estrellita' once, I fell in love with all of his music shortly afterward.
