Wonder if they're gonna announce Biohazard Zero will finally come here as Resident Evil 0 for the Wii? Something else that might be great is to explain what the hell happened between 4 and 5 since from what I heard Umbrella Chronicles only did 0, 1, 2 and 3. Biohazard 4.5 anyone?

Technically you're right, but while the main games of 0, 1, and 3 were covered, the only bits of RE2 that made it into Umbrella Chronicles were a mission each with Ada and HUNK that went under the RE3 section. While I would love to see an Umbrella Chronicles 2 that covers 2, Code: Veronica, and 4, that's not really what I want this to be about. The Wii deserves more than just a port of the best game in the series and a rail shooter that condenses three of the older games.

As for a Wii remake of Resident Evil 2, why that game in particular? If all this ends up being is a remake of an older game, I would rather see them start at Zero and do it the right way, instead of the direct port they did in Japan. I'd like to see a remake of Zero (or all the games, for that matter) using the Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition engine. And that includes moving to the RE4 inventory system, because that was one of the worst parts of the older games to me.

How about a Resident Evil 3.5 to fill in some of the gaps, like when Leon and Krauser worked together, where Billy ended up after Rebecca took his dog tags, or where Rebecca ended up after the RE1 mansion incident? Or maybe a full game that puts you playing on the Umbrella side as Wesker or HUNK? I think they really hit on something with Separate Ways, and a full game could be built on the concept of what the other characters are doing during the main game.

I said Biohazard Zero, which translates to Resident Evil Zero here. As for filling in the gaps, they could call it: Biohazard/Resident Evil: The Untold Stories. Speaking of which, why doesn't Capcom do what Square Enix did and call Resident Evil Biohazard here? The Biohazard game that was made here has pretty much been forgotten, so it would be nice if they did that. When I say do what Square Enix did, I mean renaming Dragon Warrior Dragonquest.

Does the Japanese vs. American name discrepancy really affect anything, though? It was an admittedly odd decision to begin with, but now that American audiences know the series as Resident Evil (many of them exclusively so), I see no problem with leaving it as is. And I understood what you meant by Biohazard Zero, but that was only a direct port of the GameCube game with absolutely nothing added to it or changed other than the controls, so I can completely see why Capcom wouldn't bother bringing it to the US. With the Wii version of Resident Evil 4, there was at least incentive to buy the updated game, but with Zero you'd be better off keeping your money and putting your GameCube discs in your Wii.

It's not RE5 for the Wii, so I guess there's not much to look forward to.

Part of me feels the same way, but then part of me sees some the gameplay changes they've made and Chris looking like he's taken more steroids than all of Major League Baseball and Wesker looking like immediately after RE4 he went and sat in the sun for four years straight, and I wonder if it's really such a loss.

...that said, I really want that game. My series loyalty knows no shame.

You would be looking forward to a completely gimped port?

So I just found out why the name change. You can't ship anything into the United States that has the word "biohazard" on it, so they had to rename the series. Or so I've heard, anyway.

Sounds like a sequel to Umbrella Chronicles.

I wish Capcom would suck it up and make a fully featured game on the Wii.

Oh wait Monster Hunter I guess I'll get that.

I go back to my earlier idea of a 2, Code: Veronica, and 4 sequel to Umbrella Chronicles. If I'm right, it ties both the Code: Veronica rumor and the Dark Side Chronicles one you just posted together. Maybe the extra missions will cover things like the Agency and Krauser's past?

Yeah it's kind of BS. That should have just been included in the first game.

Myth Confirmed...Always wanted to say that. Seems Leon and Claire will be in this one, I missed them in the first one.

So...they're putting out a rail shooter side game based on one game instead of three, a port, and a port of a remake?

Where's the part where we're supposed to be "very happy"?

I got a question how come it says it will support two players when the first one did it as well?

Also don't be pissed off yet how do you like this?
Source: http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/12/resident-evil-darkside-chronicles-wii-ports-of-re0-and-remake-a/

This is thriller -- thriller morning! First revealed via Famitsu scans, Capcom has officially confirmed the existence of the new Wii Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles -- and confirmed a North American release at the same time! The Darkside Chronicles is based on the Resident Evil 2 timeline and stars Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield in an Umbrella Chronicles-style rail shooter with "a more in-depth co-op experience" and a new "Evade system." The Cavia-developed shooter is expected this winter.

In addition, Capcom is localizing the Wii ports of Resident Evil Zero (which Capcom's US branch previously declined at least twice) and the Resident Evil remake (which, as a port of a remake, is basically a zombie itself now) as a new "Resident Evil Classics" line for release this year. Both games feature new Wii Remote controls and will sell at a $29.99 price point, just like Nintendo's own ported Gamecube games!
