Oh! I had a cool idea just now, a Last Exile movie. I tear up at the thought of it...Steampunk galore and a lovable cast would make a nice summer blockbuster! On a sidenote, what's everyone's take on the upcoming Astroboy film?
Its not really live from what i saw, its gci

i wanna see a hell girl life action movie come this way. I could also see a Lupin the third movie happening.

I was saying that a Live version would be cool, just blurted out that statement in a moment of fanboy excitement...sry. Also, there is a Lupin the 3rd movie but it's been out for awhile...I haven't watched it yet but if I finally dust off the copy here I will give my honest opinion of it.

Well I think there's been some Lupin movies, but something like that would make for an easy transition onto the big screen. The action in there really isn't all too crazy or flashy compared to most action movies these days. Unfortunately, it's a little old to be getting a good live action. These days it's only stuff that's still super huge like DBZ, or stuff that's new and still good like Death Note. What I hope to see is a GOOD live action Gundam or some other mecha show. That would be WICKED!

Also I'd like to thank our new member for adding to my collection of pink items! Really I want to thank YOU for showing your love of Anime in a literate way.

Seriously you people should SEE some of the requests that come my way. Like some "Naruto fan" that can't spell Naruto right, and has their Sasuke screen name spelled wrong gonk

A good friend and I had a movie night and we watched the old live action Lupin III movie I was referencing a couple posts ago, and as promised I will do what I can to give a clear concise review of it. The film was apparently shot in 1974 so the effects were pretty standard for that era, but they did an admirable job recreating the over the top style of the original cartoon, down to the "Flash of an eye" type of stunts where due to low framerate a character would move in a fashion that for all appearances was instantaneous. The story was suitably hilarious, a bogus jewel heist followed by a paranormal artifact, the kind of thing Lupin and crew do so well in the series. My only complaint was the lack of any mention of Goemon, Lupin's samurai companion. However, they had to establish who Lupin was and have him meet Jigen and Fujiko...in addition to Inspector Zenigata's scenes they wouldn't have had time to do him justice anyway. In spite of it's age and some strange bits that I personally think could have been rewritten or cut, it was a fun time that me and my comrade enjoyed. I would recommend it if you enjoyed the show, so I would give it a passing grade.

I think it would be kinda cool to see a live action film of Naruto or Bleach to come out. Talk about action.
Well there working on naruto, but not having the best time with it, trying to get people to act as the characters. Also I do know that there are a lot of bleach fans that do a good job at what characters they admire.

I take back what I said about it automatically being bad if its american made. the Wachowski brothers are the ONE exception to that rule. They did great with Speed Racer, and The Matrix was partly inspired by Ghost in the Shell. Thats were they got the idea for the plugs in the back of the neck

GUNDAM LIVE ACTION MOVIE FOR THE WIN!!

I just hope if they made one, that they don't use a series like gundam wing or anything. Gundam is one of those series where its best to start from the begining of a story and work from there instead of extending on a story (save for the movie)

By the way, who else here feels raped by the horrible show that looked like Blue's Clues got raped by gundam? Now they have a marvel superheros show in the same chibi style xd

A Gundam live action would rock...if they do it right. I would like to see them start at the beginning, but if that doesn't work I think one of the niche titles would make a better stand alone movie. 8th MS team has compelling characters and uniform mobile suits so it's easy to identify sides. Since it takes place on land I think it would be easy to film compared to Gundam 0079. On the other hand an obscure alternate series like Gundam X could work as well, it breaks continuity at a certain point so it could be it's own thing without to much alteration. It takes the war to it's logical conclusion, post apocalypse after multiple satellite drops destroy government and countermeasures break any contact with the colonies, it's groups of independent newtypes trying to survive the harsh aftermath and the various groups trying to fill the authoritarian void after the fall of the Federation. Also takes place mostly planetside, since technology is at a standstill and mobile suits capable of spaceflight are rare.

Actually I'd say that they stole the whole VR "The Matrix" thing from Shadowrun. Shadowrun RPG game came out first, and the VR thing was called "The Matrix" and it was sort similar to what they had in the movies. Except a lot more different. One of the things I love about Shadowrun is the lack of overall Character Templates like you find in D&D. There's only a handful of real "classes" and that's mostly to do with the way you want your character. There's only 4 main classes, and the variety with them is pretty unique

Also for each point you have in a stat or skill or for damage, you get that many dice to roll for success, to hit, and to damge. The numbers are your dice, rather then adding that number to your dice like most other games.

Example: Deckers, people who can be hackers similar to Matrix or Ghost in The Shell. OR There's the kind of people that use tech to have ultimate control over vehicles, or they can use drones for combat.

Example: Street Samurai people who use machines in order to enhance themselves. They don't get to do as much damage, but they can hide weapons in their arms, and soak up a lot of damage to.

Example: Physical Adepts. They may use a little bit of tech to gain more initiative dice to try to go first, and more importantly gain tech to do extra attacks. They have the most dice for weapons, and can basically start with 12 damage dice PER HAND for SMGs. Or do a little bit less damage with a rifle. Unfortunately for each bit of technology they get, they get less magical goodness to enhance their physical abilities. Later on after gaining enough exp they can even start enhancing their stats and other fun abilities. They can also get extra dice for manipulating people.

Example: Shamans. They use their charisma for drain, for casting magic has a chance to do stun damage on you. So they're the best casters, and great for manipulating people, because they are encouraged for high charisma. OR there's Mages who use their INT power for drain, and are therefore more encouraged for more professional stuff to gain money. They are better weapon smiths, non-magical doctors, and other good stuff.

The best part is, you're not limited to what you SHOULD do with your class. A mage can learn to be okay at guns and learn stealth. A Shaman could even implant some tech for extra actions and other goodies. A Street Samurai could learn to be a ninja, learn non-magical medicine stuff, and other stuff. So you're really free to make your character how you want it.

I just wish they would stop making anime into live action movies. I hate live action shows and movies and every time they make them they do more damage to the anime then a bad dubbing. scream

Or maybe someone who knows martial arts of some kind, rather than wire fu.

@ Ayanami you play shadowrun? Neat, I have friends that play...no current GM in town so I just get to hear about it. Played a few other systems tho...mostly D&D and Dark Heresy...played Exalted years ago.
