Pledge of Allegiance

I always skipped that part and went straight to indivisible. It only got me a couple of looks at most, but most students at my school weren't very religious (if at all) to begin with.

I would sing this whenever we had to sing the pledge

I pledge allegiance to the flag of Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and to the Communism for which it stands, one peoples republic under Stalin, with money, your possesions, and power to the government.

I just stand, put my hand over my heart, and blankly stare at the flag without saying a word until the pledge is done.

Back in school, I would usually just sat there reading the paper while it was being said or depending on the teacher I had at the time, stand there and just silently mouth it, omitting the under god part.

Actually, I have a short story about the saying the pledge. This story comes from my Junior year of High School when I was part of the JROTC. For those of you who do not know what the JROTC is it stands for the Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps, basically by taking this class if I decided to join the military I could start at a higher rank.

I had a JROTC class first thing in the morning that year and as such we would have to say the pledge at the end of class during the morning announcements. Well one day, my friend Darren decided not to stand up and say anything. Normally, our main instructor had no problems with that. However, that day he was out sick and our assistant instructor was in charge, well...he saw my friend not stand up and say it and got really pissed and made him do 10 push-ups. During the next class the instructor basically spent 75 minutes lecturing us about how it is our duty as cadets and Americans to stand and salute the flag and pledge our allegiance to god and our country. Nobody really listened to the lecture.

Pretty much I just skip the whole "One Nation Under God" part, like the way it used to be.

But then again, back in HS, I would get away just standing for the Pledge with my hands to my side looking bored. lol No one there could convince me to feel 'patriotic'.

I used to say it. Once I decided that I was an atheist, I stopped saying the God part of it, which was in 6th grade. By 7th grade, I stopped saying it. Luckily, my teacher was agnostic, so she didn't care. In my high school, we don't even say it.
However, at an assembly in middle school, one of the teachers came up and made a big speech about how we don't respect the flag anymore and that we should all, always say the pledge. I was to come up right after he was done and say to the whole 600 student school "please rise for the pledge of allegiance. I..." The man was standing right next to me, seemingly fuming. He scared me into saying the pledge that day...;_;

I am out of school, so I have ever really had to say it for awhile now.

I suppose the best response would be "One nation, under ******** YOU"

Until they (not really a we until I can vote) fix a lot of things, mainly the electoral college I really don't want to pledge my allegiance. My ideas haven't been as strong until recently but when I have to now I just remain seated, eyes daring anyone to try and challenge me.

In my school, me and a couple of my friends would refuse to stand, and especially refuse to say it. So one day a substitute teacher {who just so happened to be in the Vietnam war} literally picked me up from my seat, and would not let me and my friends leave until we said it...He's fired now.

I don't even say the pledge anymore. I figured saying it more than once was like multiplying negatives, and it would just cancel it out.
