Larger screens is always a plus and not just for old people.

I was happy with my DS Phat.

But then I got a DSi.

I was happy with my original DS. Then I put it in the bottom pocket of my backpack for a few months, cracked the top screen, sent it to Nintendo, was called and told that it couldn't be fixed, and asked what color of DS Lite I wanted.

Now I'm happy with my DS Lite. Anyway...

Not that this means anything whatsoever. This is Nintendo we're talking about. They can deny it until they're blue in the face and it's still possible they'll turn around a couple months later and confirm it.

I know I just said that I read that the reason was for old people

G4 said that it's 4 inches large, and I am glad I waited. I want it, but I'm still content with my HOT ROD RED MARIO KART DS PHAT SPECIAL

I used to have one of those. I never liked the Mario Kart wrist strap, so that's floating around my room somewhere, but when I sent it in, I kept the regular DS strap off it and put it on the crimson/black Lite they sent back to me. That Mario Kart DS is the only system I've ever owned that I don't still have. Maybe I'll replace it someday.

Holy s**t it's gigantic. It's bigger than the original DS by a lot. RAAAAH Kinda cool, though I don't know why they're doing this exactly. I understand doing it, but why so soon after the DSi came out?

Okay, so definitely not pocket-sized, then...

With a bigger casing, will they be bringing back the GBA slot? It's also possible for Nintendo to improve the system operating memory, which I hope they'll do, because it's annoying how you get the "out of memory" error when you try to go on some websites.

EDIT: I've just checked the specifications page (it's all in Japanese!)

The DSi LL won't have a GBA slot, but it comes with Brain Training: Arts, Brain Training: Science, and Dictionary free.

Here's what I managed to translate:

Screen Size:
4.2 inches

LCD Screen:
TFT with 260000 colors

Size:
Width 161.0mm
Length 91.4mm
Thickness 21.4mm
Stylus 96.0mm
Pen 129.3mm

Weight:
Approx. 314g

Recharge Time:
3 hours

Playing Time:
13-17 hours (lowest brightness setting)
11-14 hours (low brightness setting)
09-11 hours (medium brightness setting)
06-08 hours (high brightness setting)
04-05 hours (highest brightness setting)

Software:
Nintendo DS software
Nintendo DSi software
DSi Ware

Default Software:
Nintendo DSi Browser
Flipnote Studio
Brain Training: Arts
Brain Training: Sciences
Dictionary

Input Slots:
DS cartridge slot
SD memory card slot
AC charging socket
Stereo headphone socket

Included in Package:
DSi LL console
DSi AC recharging adaptor cable
DSi LL pen
DSi stylus
Quick start guide
Full manual

User Image

Notice that though the screens are larger, the buttons are not. I'd say the Nintendo are aiming for older consumers based on the type of default software it comes with, although people of all ages will buy it because of the larger screen. No information about its resolution has been released, so we don't know if it will have clearer images than the DSi or the same quality, but just bigger.

Also, Nintendo hasn't said anything about the camera resolution either.

I'm not sure I like the extra size that came as a result of the bigger screen, but I heard the battery life is better, which is nice.

And granpas.

Still, I wonder if this would make games like EBA easier or harder.

I'll make them different, that's for sure. With more surface area you have more distance to cover in the same amount of time for a game like that.

Eh. I don't think that they will make much profit off of it.
