About a year ago, I cracked the LCD on my original DS and sent it into Nintendo. It seems that parts for the original DS are running out, so they upgraded me to a Lite. They even let me choose the color. I received it without a box, with two styluses and the cartridge slot insert in plastic bags, so I'm not sure if it was refurbished or something, but it was in pristine condition when I got it.

An out of warranty repair is about $90, so if you can't find a DS for cheaper than that and don't mind the upgrade, that might be the way to go.

I've managed to repair it somewhat with scotch tape. xd
If it comes loose, all I gotta do is replace the tape.

As long as I'm not to rough with it, it'll be just fine.

I'm still probably going to try to get it repaired or get an upgrade, though, but at least this'll keep me satisfied if I can't do that before Pokemon HGSS comes out.
Wow. xd

Couldnt you jsut keep the bottom part of the DS for your GBA games? Granted you'd have no sound, and no clue if it'd work without the top part.

Well, since the tape is working so marvelously, I figure I can wait to get an upgrade.

Now my only two options left are to use my birthday money and sell s**t to get the $90 for a used DS Lite, or to get it by just getting a job?

Probably get a job. It'll give me something to do, plus I'll meet and talk with people.

If a used Lite is going to run you $90, doing a Nintendo repair might be the better option. Nintendo gives you a one year warranty on all repaired systems. And besides, I'd expect the system you get from Nintendo to be in better condition than one from GameStop or something. Of course, it's up to you. Maybe you've got some sort of attachment to your old DS.

How many bisexuals does it take to present a good idea?
Just one.

1.) If money isn't an issue, then buy a DSi.
2.) Save your old DS, set the options to display GBA games on the bottom screen, and use it as a GBA.
3.) ???
4.) Profit!
EDIT: Dammit, I overlooked Rad's post. xd

Well, yeah.
But it seems as though his major issue with the DSi is the lack of GBA slot, and not the price.

Nope, money's been mentioned as another issue.

Wow...cool. And my DS was easily repairable, too.

Amazing how much a couple of stands of scotch tape will do:
