Dolen smiled as he played with the little rat on his lap. "Your so cute," he said with a smile. The rat ever so slightly nipped him in response. "So emotional." He pulled out a bit of meat and gave it to the rat. The little rat sat on its back legs and ate the meat that it was holding between its two front paws. "I wish things would get interesting soon, things are a little boring here. Plus, I am poor, and I need a job or two." He sighed and put his hands on his lap. "Well, in the meantime, I suppose it is just me and you doing whatever."

Tor shivered. He could feel every blood vessel constricting in the cold rains. "Noted," he replied mechanically. "How'd you manage that one?" Making small talk seemed to help keep him going. Almost there. He picked up the pace.

Sinku chuckled as he continued to walk along " What are you talking about?"

User ImageA pale girl, who looked young for her age, tread quietly along the streets. Her makeshift coat was tugged about her, but she still couldn't keep the slight shiver from coursing through her. She absolutely hated when it rained. Silently she hoped Annabel, the youngest who had to stay inside most of the time as she was only 7 and the streets weren't safe, remembered to put the buckets under the holes that were sure to drip from the roof. Otherwise their beds would be wet tonight.

With a sigh, she ran a hand through her soaked straggly hair. She was officially supposed to be working tonight, but nobody stands still when it's raining. Picking pockets was like shooting a bow, it's always easier when the target is till. In this weather however, one could possibly freeze if they held still for too long without shelter. Still, the coin needed to buy dinner tonight at the tavern was too short for them all to eat. She needed to stop someone with money, to get just a few coins so that Samuel, the oldest of the group could eat. Her eye caught the glint of gold as a coin was flicked towards a beggar. Locking her gaze on the source she smiled. There, maybe he'll be willing to part with just a little more.

From behind, his appearance seemed commonplace: neither overly evil nor good. He probably lived a rough life, but anyone who didn't was just dead. She picked up her pace, and the man seemingly grew more sinister with every step. When she grew level with him, the eye patch made her want to flinch, though from a memory instead of true disgust. At least he was kind enough to cover up the probable hole left behind. Falling into step beside him, she commented in a nonchalant voice, "I saw you reading that flyer back there," her voice was soft, sounding like that of a healer more than a thief. When she was younger, she tried to pass as a boy but her voice was too feminine. "Are you planning on joining the 'Queen's Army?'" Her question was followed by a true laugh, one that sounded like bells. Even though she was strongly considering using the job as an escape from Opalescent City, the army believing it was going to gain any power around here was just a ridiculous hope to her. Still, she was truly curious, as to why he'd be interested, what he knew about "applying" and so forth. Therefore the young girl asked. She knew that getting knowledge was difficult unless you just went in straightforward and blunt. She waited for him to answer before she would start checking his pockets.

Avin quickly clicked his knife closed and slid the cold metal up into his sleeve before turning to face the girl. His remaining frosty blue eye scanned the girl, looking for something hidden beneath. He laughed, sliding his hands back into his pockets and shaking his head. "We're not interested in anything to do with the Queen," he replied, allowing the knife to fall into his pocket.
Avin stopped, pivoting on one foot to face the girl. He studied her, a pang of remorse flooding through him. It was at this moment that he longed for the desert to once more comfort him. "Hey," He began, looking over her dirty clothes once more. "Are you hungry?"

"Mastering every element is no easy t-task," Tor replied to the small creature. His train of thought was broken by a flash of white in the deluge, "'Ey!" He took off toward the movement, hunger stabbing at his insides. It was a young woman. She had to have some sort of coin on her. Girls had a much easier time of obtaining money from strangers. Took little effort to charm a man, but much more to charm a woman into emptying her coin purse. "P-Pardon me, m-miss," he stuttered. As he approached, he noticed the familiar silhouette of the young man whom he had been tracking. He slowed to a halt, slipping a little on the wet cobble. "Finally caught up to you, have I," he grinned in triumph and intrigue. "Tough man t-to track."

" I was born able to use them all but over the years I have mastered them all." Sinku said with a laugh" And what do you know we found the guy you were looking for without you having to track him done ....wasn't that easy?"

Somebody, partially hidden by the deep shadows in which he lies, stirs at the sound of a man's voice talking to a pet rat. Rain trickles and beads off scales and strangely scaly hair, and runs in rivulets down the more normal seeming skin. For a moment he is still - it's quite chilly out, the lack of movement has left him stiff and sluggish, and he can barely remember where he is. Eventually he gets up the effort to slide out from under his ineffective makeshift cover, pushing with his hands against the ground to get his stiff upper body into an upright position. Though much of his tail is still hidden in the deep shadow, the rest of his body's condition can now be observed. Soot and other grime is smudged over much of his body and limited clothing: the metal of his chainmail is cloudy and dark, and while his deep skintone and scales help to disguise some of the dirtiness, it's still somewhat obvious that it's been a while since he's had a proper wash. His eyes are dull and unalert from the cold, his chest is just thin enough to make him look hungry, and his scales and hair lack their usual sheen. He's done better than many (he's still alive, after all), his ability to eat almost anything serving him well in hard times.
Slowly gathering his wits about him, he lazily peers over to what awoke him in the first place. His tongue automatically flicks out at the sight: was that food sitting on the man's lap? Ah, but he had been talking to it, hadn't he...? His body releases what little tension his food response had drummed up, and he slouches into a more relaxed stance, curling his tail around him to keep what little warmth he had left in. Though his body seems relaxed, his slitted eyes never leave the warm little body he'd so like to eat: even in the cold he's quicker than many humans, and is just waiting for the thing to scamper just a little too far away...

Avin sighed deeply, torn from his memories. He turned to face the beggar and his new friend, his hand moving to the blade in his pocket. "Can't you see we're in the middle of something right now?" He growled, eying the newcomer uneasily. "And what did we tell you not twenty minutes ago?" He turned back to Tor, his eye burning red once more.

Sinku slowly moved his right hand towards the hilt of one of his blades not taking his eyes off of this new stranger." And your point?"

The man was petting the rat as it ran around in circles and played by itself. When the Naga moved, the rat paused and looked in the creatures direction, but was moving once more after a few seconds. The man shivered slightly, a response to the cold let loose by the surprise of the Naga. "Well, look at this Umiko, we has a visitor." He sighed slightly. "He looks hungry too." He sighed again once more as pulled out a hunk of meat. The slab of meat was nearly twice the size of the little rat. He began whispering to himself in an inaudible whisper as the rat squeaked. "Take it to him." The little rat grabbed the piece of meat and moved it off of the boys lap without effort, then walked around and began to push it to the Naga at an alarming rate. Once the rat was closer to the creature than the boy, it turned around and rat towards the boy with a speed that only a cheetah could muster. The boy petted the rat and smiled, she obviously didn't like the look of the Naga.

Eren is puzzled. What is this? Food presenting him with more food? Strange little creature. Shame it hadn't come closer... The naga's sinuous tail snakes out, its tip wrapping around the offering and dragging it closer, heedless of the grime it picks up on the way. It's certainly not as good as live food, but he's not complaining. Giving the odd man another curious look, he shoves the food into his mouth whole and swallows, the tight choker on his neck expanding on its carefully crafted band as his throat presses against it. He had given the meat a cursory sniff and tongue flick, but he wasn't terribly concerned about any diseases it might carry. That done, it takes him a moment to remember what society mandates for such an act.
"...Thank you..." he manages, his voice soft and raspy with cold and disuse. "Are you cold?" he asks, producing a stick of chalk from one of the waterproof pouches around his waist and lifting a loose cobblestone fragment from the ground. He knows a charm or two for warmth: it's often not enough to make him toasty, but it's gotten him through some of the more unpleasant temperatures he so hates. Such magic costs him little, and while he isn't always polite he still retains some sense of dignity, and felt he owed the man at least that much.

The man smiled. "Your welcome. And no, I am not too cold, I quite enjoy it anyways." At least he found somewhat nice and respectful. Everyone he had met since leaving the training grounds had been incredibly mean and cruel. A few even tried to kill his pet rat. They went on and on how rats were diseased and filthy, but his rat wasn't. It kind of saddened him that people could be so blind and cruel. He had just given his last piece of food to a complete stranger and didn't even think twice. It certainly proved he was a nice person, or so he hoped. He was always worrying about how people viewed him and he never wanted anybody to hate him. He paused and scratched the side of his head with his right index finger before sighing and putting his arms on his crossed legs. The little rat named Umiko had curled up into a ball in the small space between his legs for warmth.

"Suit youself," Eren say with a shrug of his thin shoulders. He slouches back against the wall, settling down comfortably again and wrapping his tail close. With the chalk in his hand, he begins drawing a fairly simple design on the stone he has picked up. It's a basic circle for summoning energy, decorated with signs for heat. When he's done, he breaths on it, sacrificing a little of his own energy to start the spell. While nothing visible happens, the magic works on the stone, tying it into the earth below and drawing up heat, using the stone as a focus. It warms up in Eren's hands, and he smiles faintly, carefully placing it between a coil of his tail and his stomach to aid in digestion. Curse the cold. That done, his eyes go back to watching the rat. He might still happily eat it if it got separated from its owner, but he is now in debt to the man so he will do his best to reign in his instincts, at least until that debt is repaid.

"You have been watching my rat for some time. The poor thing is quite afraid of you," he said with a frown. "Anyhow, what is there to do around here?" He desperately needed to find a way to make money. He began to mutter under his breathe again, but this time, when he was done, nothing appeared to have happened.
