Cool, sounds like fun.

I wish I could play.
Where'd you get yours?

I haven't any idea. I know he got the Vocaloid computer program from a friend in Japan and the Project Diva game he got from someone at work so it's probably a you know... copy of the game.

Well... as long as it's not copyrighted in your country...
You can't get in trouble for it.

I know that the vocaloid program itself has an english version, but if you want the cool japanese voices, and not the crappy english garbage... you'll have to accept online stuff like that.

As for the game, I'm not sure where it's been copyrighted.
But I'd love to find one.

With our ISP, yeah you can. *shrugs*
They suspect any little thing and cut us off for the rest of the month. I'd rather have a REAL legal copy of stuff anyway.

Well, all of his games are in Japanese. I haven't any idea at all what the stuff says. All I know is that the vocaloid program looks really complicated, something about having to understand composing music and stuff, not really my area at all.

I think you need to switch ISPs.
Because the one you currently have is garbage and controlled by a bunch of brainless morons.

I'd rather have a legal copy of stuff too.
(because it always comes with cool extras on extra disks and in the booklets in the case)

But at the same time, I don't want to sacrifice the quality of the stuff itself. I'd do almost anything to be given the chance to go to japan and buy the original versions of everything there. (now, if only I knew japanese) ^^;

As for the vocaloid program... I had a chance to look at one and yeah... it is quite complicated "looking"
But in reality, all you have to know is a little japanese (if you have the japanese version). Just type in the lyrics (in hiragana) and you're off to a good start. Then you'll need to adjust the length, and the pitch of the notes. And decide whether you want any of them to have any "vibrato" as the program calls it.
I'd tell you more, but that's all I know... gomennasai *bows*

Now, now, dude, let's not let our tempers get the better of us. They may not be morons. They're certainly sheep, so let's call them that. 3nodding

I appologize for the confusion, but there was no anger behind that statement. (despite my frequent problem with regards to that)

I was merely stating it as that fact that I had believed it to be.
(I was also lumping them in with those that complain to them so they believe that they must do it)

Well, they do offer us the cheapest/fastest service here where we live. So, I'm quite fine with it. ...Plus, it's not like I care to download illegal crap anyway. whee

I agree, about the real copies of stuff.
I would rather have all of that stuff along with it. Plus the official tech support that comes with having the real codes and stuff for the games.

Yeah. My husband is working on an English song using Miku and someone else. I don't know. Not my sort of stuff really. If he enjoys it, then I just let him go with it.

That's the spirit... I guess ^^;

Yeah,
I just wish that the english publishing companies would stop releasing nothing but garbage.

WARNING: the following paragraph is a rant... skip it if you wish to;
I mean... did we ever ask them to cut the episodes down to that stupid half hour limit? NO! At least I didn't. Did we ever ask them to edit and censor out half the show? NO! (again, I didn't) But still, they insist on turning everything into worthless garbage. Empty shells of that entertainments former existence. Heck, alot of anime's are SOO chopped and spliced that it's not even the same show anymore. (for example, sailor moon, cardcaptor sakura, and that entire episode of outlaw star - and who knows what else) Why can't they just release the stuff AS IT WAS IN JAPAN!!! And JUST add a english track, and subtitle file! Is that too much to ask? (I didn't think so) But no! they think everything has to be dumbed-down for all the stupid brats of the country. (I appologize if anyone here has bra~ "I mean" children ^^; ) Why must we miss out just because someone else is too lazy to control what their brats watch, themsleves?

ATTENTION: end of rant... those that skipped ahead may continue reading here;

Cool, I wish I knew enough about the program to make a song.
Unfortunately I know even less about notes themselves to start thinking about the program that is used ^^;

I personally think that releasing two different version in each country would be sufficient. Since the USA does have different laws & outlooks on things ...then I can understand a cut/edited version being available on television. But, then offering the full/uncut versions to be available on DVD.

Though, for a lot of anime ...they don't really work well when translated. They -have- to change the wording or the idea for things to actually make sense to most Americans. You can call it "dumbed down" if you want, but I think it's practical. Culture in America is different than Japan.

Actually that idea appeals to me quite a bit.
Then I could buy the uncut/unedited versions of everything, and all the overprotective lazy parents of the world can get the dumbed-down version for their kids.
Unfortunately most companies wouldn't want to waste their precious money actually doing it that way... the right way.

My appologies for not being clear. When I said "dumbed-down" I wasn't refering to the dialogue translation, I was refering to the editing of the adult imagery in the video itself. Particularly with regards to censorship of ecchi and hentai-ish material. I have never been as irratated as when I saw the censored episode versions of "Rosario Vampire" - What with all the stupid bats covering up over half the screen in almost every episode. (the stupidest way to censor EVER) Explanation: there are ALOT of pantyshots in that show.

Thank GOD for fansubbers that don't censor anything!

What we need, is a "Japanese Imports" store that ONLY sells the original versions of everything from manga and videos to games... including "adults only" labels.
Then all they'd have to do, is add an easy way to get subtitle files for the media as well, and everything would be perfect.
Unfortunately when it comes to adult only material from japan, practically NOTHING is allowed to be sold in other countries... due mainly to the stupidity of that countries government and "anti-japan" (including parental control freaks) extremists. Which apparently makes up the majority of ALL countries populations.
PostPosted: Thu Jul 22, 2010 2:55 pm
Majority? Ha! Just because something is an established law doesn't mean that it was supported by a majority.

They could adopt an all-or-nothing policy, like they have on other stuff. You know, by not importing anything that they would want to censor at all? Things can always be worse. 3nodding

And are you talking about the anti-hentai people? Because that's not the same as being anti-Japan. confused

I do have to agree with Rini about the cultural problems in dialogue. I've read about jokes and references that simply don't translate because of wording and local history. As for visual censorship, it depends on the visual itself and the method of censorship used. Sometimes, it's okay, IMO.

If it's not supported by a majority, then why was it put up in the first place?

True... "things CAN always be worse" And things always get worse before they get better.

Unfortunately ALOT of people think that EVERYTHING from japan is pornagraphic, and that it's an entire country of perverts. That's a very damaging rumor you know v.v

As for the "depends on the visual itself and the method of censorship used" statement,
We shall have to simply agree to disagree here, because IMO, I've never seen visual censorship that I thought was needed. (though I must admit that at least very little of it was well done enough that it wasn't too annoying)

[line 2 continuation]
You once told me that everything goes in a pendulum and once we reach the top part of one end, we'll all swing quickly back towards the other extreme.
I eagerly await the day when ALL hentai becomes legal everywhere.
PostPosted: Fri Jul 23, 2010 1:40 pm
Lol, do you actually think all our laws were supported by a majority? rofl That's not how it works. I'd give you a history/government lesson here, but that would require a LOT of typing, and I've got other things to do. Come see me if you want more info.

I'm not anti-Japan, but I do think there are an awful lot of people with sexual problems of various categories there. Maybe not much more than here, but they're a lot more obvious and serious.

Are you sure? Maybe you've seen visual censorship that was so good that you never noticed it. eek

The opposing extreme doesn't necessarily mean all or nothing. It usually means a lot or a little. And there are categories of hentai that I wouldn't want to see legalized anywhere.

Personally, if Anime was not edited ...then I wouldn't watch it at all. Seeing a naked drawn person (or a real person at that) does not appeal to me at all. I'm not anti-Japan, I'm anti-porn. Japan and Hentai/Porn aren't the same thing.
