xxxxxxxxMelissa Ann Taylorx"Doctor! Doctor! I think my heart stopped beating."Melissa turned her head, being tapped and seeing the boy from earlier and his friends. With a frown she waited for her pastry to be wrapped up in the paper, the seller taking his time while she leaned her elbow on the counter. At first she had no interest in the guy, she didn't even look at him, only watching the worker as he grabbed something else for her. But then it was the fact that they didn't think he had a shot that changed her mind.
She looked at them, standing up straight while she put her hand on her own shoulder looking at the one they named Embry. "Yeah, sure. Let's go on a date." Finally the guy was done with her roll, which she took from his hand angrily and fished out some money from her pocket to slap on the desk. Melissa kept her head forward, but her eyes directed at the guy again before she started exchanging things with the cashier. "My name's Melissa." She grabbed the cute little bag from the guy before taking a napkin and a pen from the other side of the counter, quickly scribbling her number down and putting it in his hand. "Call me I get off work at five." She smiled and walked off, about eight minutes had already been wasted on her break so she decided to just finish it up at work.

"There are no rules that can bind you when you find your other half." Embry looked at her with wide eyes. "Whoa, really? Awesome! Sure, I'll call you!" He stared at the number that was in his hand. Once she had walked out, he gasped a few times. "Guys, this is all ten digits. It's a legit number. So even if it's not even her number, it could be someone's. Maybe today's my lucky day!"
Jacob laughed. "She looked kind of annoyed most of the time, you know. She might have just given you a fake number. I don't even think she likes it here." He kept eating his Danish while the rest of his friends ordered and came over to him.
Quil smirked at Jacob. "I have a feeling that you want her to yourself, Jake," he joked as he took a bite out of his cinnamon roll. "I mean, you can't have Bella, so now you're just gonna look for any new face around here to date, right? Plus her face wasn't half bad."
Jacob rolled his eyes. "Oh, come on, Quil. You act as if I'll never find love in my life. Plus, I don't think a boyfriend is what she needs right now. I think what she needs is a friend. She's new to Forks and probably doesn't want to be here. She needs a familiar face."
Embry snorted. "Jake, quit being such a little lady. She doesn't need a friend. She needs a man for her. Plus, she needs a guy like me. Hot, friendly, sweet, strong, plain awesome."
"I'm pretty sure that she wants her 'awesome' to have flavor. It shouldn't be plain. No one likes plain stuff. That's boring." Jacob smirked and finished off his Danish, throwing away the paper bag that it had come in.
"Trust me, when we become the power couple of Forks, you're gonna regret all those mean comments, Jakey." Embry laughed and finished off his eclair.
"Because Forks has enough couples to compete for the title of 'Power Couple of Forks, Washington.'" Quil chuckled, and all of them left to look for something to do. Maybe check up on Charlie or something...

xxxxxxxxMelissa Ann Taylorx"Doctor! Doctor! I think my heart stopped beating."Melissa sat back at the cash register for another hours, slowly eating her pastry and enjoying it. She wondered if the guy would call her, he seemed like he would.
The hours passed by slowly, until she was finally off work. Everyone was leaving in a small pack, feeling safer that way for some reason. She walked down the street, pulling her jacket closer to her body as she walked to her car; keys in hand. Melissa hopped in,, not really wanting to go home yet as she closed the door and settled in. It had been a week and for the first time since then she'd made herself a new friend, only he wanted more than that; but she didn't have to give it up right now.
Melissa turned her car on, feeling weird as all of a sudden it had revved up, continuing to do so until it finally turned off. For a moment she couldn't comprehend what happened, slapping the steering wheel in a depserate attempt to try and slap it back on. With a sigh she leaned back into the car seat, hitting her head on the back of it. And then she got out, keeping her door open just incase as she slightly worried about the theif again. She went to the front of her car, popping the hood open as a huge cloud of black smoke clogged up her face, making her wave her hand around and cough; backing up till it cleared. "Ugh, God."

"There are no rules that can bind you when you find your other half." After loitering around for a few hours, Jacob and his friends decided to go to Sam's house and see if he was home. If not, they could always ask Emily to make them some muffins or something. She made pretty good muffins, after all. Sam had definitely landed a good one.
The walked over to his house, noticing that Sam was home. He didn't look to happy, though. Jacob raised an eyebrow and frowned. "Sam, what's wrong? Did you get any information about the attacks or anything?"
Sam nodded. "Apparently, it's a vampire," he replied. "I'm surprised that you couldn't sense its presence. Or maybe you have been, but it just didn't occur to you as much because of the things you have on your mind..."
Embry jumped in front of Sam and gripped his shoulders. "Sam, guess what? There's this new girl in Forks, and I thought that maybe I could make a move, and she said that we could go out on a date or something! She gave me a number! With TEN digits!!!" He started freaking out and bounding around the house.
Emily shook her head with a smile and came outside. "Embry, please be careful in the house. I don't want you destroying anything with your glee and energy." She laughed softly and kissed Sam's cheek. "Hello, boys," she said to the pack.
"Hey, Emily," they replied in unison. "Embry found a chance at love," Quil said with a chuckle. "I think she's playing him. I think that she's going to blow him off, or she gave him a fake number or something. I mean, he's Embry for God's sake. Embry couldn't get a girl in his life. Especially not one like that."
Embry pounced on Quil and the two started fighting. The rest of the pack just laughed and cheered them on. Some were even joining in. All Jacob could do was laugh at how right Quil was and how naïve Embry was.
Embry pulled out his phone and the napkin that had Melissa's number scribbled on it. "I'm gonna call Melissa," he said smoothly. He dialed the number and held his cell up to his ear. "Guys, it's ringing!" he squealed. Jacob laughed as he and the rest of them came closer to listen in.

xxxxxxxxMelissa Ann Taylorx"Doctor! Doctor! I think my heart stopped beating."For about thirty minutes Melissa had spent her time going back and forth from the front seat of her car to the hood; and back and forth. But it was of no use, she didn't know a thing about cars, all she knew was that hers was a toyota; and that was that.
Right now she sat in her front seat, her head on the back of the head rest while she looked up at her car's ceiling. And that's when her phone rang, the annoying buzz of the phone against her car's plastic dashboard making her grow frustrated along with her dead beat car. Melissa snatched it off the dashboard, poking the answer button harshly while she growled a bit into the reciever. "Hello?" From the other side she couldn't hear anything, at the same time she looked forward out the windshield seeing the scenery as she waited for a reply on the other end.

"There are no rules that can bind you when you find your other half." "Hey, Melissa!" Embry exclaimed. "It's Embry. So, do you wanna meet up sometime soon? I mean, you're off of work, right?" He looked around at the rest of the pack and grinned wildly. The rest of them resisted the urge to laugh.
Jacob looked at him with a smirk on his face. "Let's hope she's in a good mood right now," he said with a laugh. "Earlier, she seemed frustrated."
Embry frowned when he realized that she hadn't sounded very good on the other end of the line. He put his hand on the speaking end of the phone so Melissa wouldn't hear. "Wait, she kind of... growled when she picked up the phone..." He started to get nervous that maybe she was just a naturally angry person. He couldn't live with that. He took his hand of and said, "Um, are you okay? You sound a bit... frustrated."
Jacob put his ear to the phone, trying to listen in. He could hear some strange noises coming from the other line. It sounded like a car that wasn't working. "I don't think her car is working. Ask if she needs help with her car. I could fix it for her."
Embry scowled at Jacob and put his hand back on the phone. "No way, man! I already have her number. Don't go around stealing my girl." He asked her anyways. "Hey, your car sounds bust. I could fix it for you... well actually, Jacob is the mechanic of the group. I could send him over to fix your car up if you want."

xxxxxxxxMelissa Ann Taylorx"Doctor! Doctor! I think my heart stopped beating."Melissa had picked up the phone, not really listening to half of the conversation as she watched and heard her engine sputter. "What? Yeah, sorry my car's busted."
She turned her head, not looking at her engine as she listened in on him; plugging up her other ear. "What? You would do that for me?" She became surprised at how fast Embry had attatched himself onto her; already doing her favors even though he was a stranger. But that was just it, he ws a stranger. "Well, I mean if it's ok. If you're not busy."
She listened in on the other line, feeling a bit bad that Embry would go to such lengths for her; or maybe he was just a really nice guy. "Thank you so much Embry," From where she was she cringed feeling guilty again, but she was glad that she was recieving help. "Do I need to have money ready or something?" She looked around, cranning her neck to see if she could spot a bank.

"There are no rules that can bind you when you find your other half." "I've heard," Embry replied. "But I'm not the person to ask. I'm not that great with cars and stuff. Jacob's the one who will do it for you." He sighed at that part, realizing that Jacob would be the knight in shining armor this time.
Jacob decided to listen in on the conversation. He smiled at the fact that Melissa and Embry might just get something going after the car was fixed. But then again, he was upset that he might be stealing Embry's thunder. "You should come with me, Embry," he said.
Embry grinned. He seemed to like that idea. He could "comfort" Melissa while Jacob did the dirty work. "No problem," he replied. "And you don't need any money. He can do it free of charge. Jacob's just great like that." He winked at Jacob, who slapped his forehead in response.
Quil butted in. "Wait, she would have paid you? Why didn't you take the money, you idiot?! You could use some extra cash. Your pockets are practically empty. Plus, you owe me for the eclair." He shook his head in disbelief.
Jacob cut into the conversation and responded for Embry while "lover boy" was on the phone. "Don't you get it, Quil? He's doing it for... LOVE!" He laughed boisterously and Quil and Sam joined in.
Embry shushed them as he continued to talk on the phone. "Can you tell me where exactly you are? What are some things that are around you? Or are you just in front of the café?"

xxxxxxxxMelissa Ann Taylorx"Doctor! Doctor! I think my heart stopped beating."She listened in on bits and pieces of their conversation, becoming embarrassed. Melissa had been hunched over her engine, trying to peak around it but not wanting to touch. "Oh, um yeah. I'm by a bookstore," She leaned forward, using her free hand as a shield from the sun so she could strain her eyes and see far. "And a fish store."
Melissa heard more chatter from the other line, staying on as she took her keys and got back into the car; sitting and locking the door. It never hurt to be safe, of course maybe she was extra safe.
Her phone beeped and she pulled it away from her ear, taking a look at the screen which had explained her battery was fading. With a groan she got back onto the phone, "Hey, um Embry? My phone is dying." Melissa huffed out another breath of air, making her bangs fly up in frustration.
ooc;; Sorry I'm writing so little. I'm not sure what to write while she's on the other line~

"There are no rules that can bind you when you find your other half." Embry scowled at the rest of his friends. "Guys! Shut up! I'm trying to hear her!" Then he listened in. "Oh, okay, we know where that is. Don't worry about your phone. We'll be there in a couple minutes. I'll see you in a few!" He hung up and glared at his friends. "I think she could hear us, you idiots."
"Well, we're sorry for making your soon to be girlfriend feel uncomfortable," responded Jacob with total sarcasm. He and the rest of the guys laughed. Sam ended up shutting them up.
"Jake, go get your tools and whatnot," Embry said. "I'll go get some snacks!" Then he went in search of Emily and her muffins. "Emily! I kind of need your muffins! Can I have some please?" He went inside to go get the basket.
Jacob found his toolbox and quickly pulled it out and went back to where the rest of the guys were. Embry had gotten the basket of muffins and was swinging it a little bit in glee.
"Now, you two be careful, okay?" Sam warned. "You don't know when you might encounter the vampire. If you sense it, one of you goes to get us, and we'll track it down. I suggest that Embry comes to get us, since Jacob will be fixing Melissa's car, am I right?"
Embry blushed a deep rouge. "Yes, but what if she needs comforting?" he responded with a question of his own. "Jacob can't comfort her while he's fixing the car. I have to be there." Then, with a sigh and look of defeat, he knew that his transparent excuses would get him nowhere, so he agreed to what Sam had said.
Jacob and Embry started jogging over to the area where Melissa was stuck with her beat up car. In a few minutes, they could see a cloud of thick gray smoke and a Toyota sedan was shrouded by it. "Hey, Melissa!" yelled Embry as he started waving and running closer. Jacob jogged behind him with his tools and smiled at Melissa politely with a quick nod. [ooc: It's fine. I understand.]

Her first week here and already her car had broken down. She turned her head, seeing the two boys form earlier jogging their way over. With her breath she puffed up her bangs, happy to see them but hoping that it didn't show too much. Melissa opened the door, stepping out and waving at them with one hand while the other got her whisps of hair out of her face that the wind had caused to be there.

∫∂∫ Jacob Black ∫∂∫
"There are no rules that can bind you when you find your other half." Embry smiled at Melissa. "Jacob will get started on your car now, won't you, Jacob?" He looked over at Jacob and signaled for him to begin.
Jacob smiled at Melissa as well. "Of course I will," he said as he nudged Embry in the ribs. "Embry, why don't you spend some time with Melissa? Sounds like a good idea, right?" He winked at Embry and started to look under the hood, fanning away the dark gray smoke without even letting out a small cough. He started to adjust some of the parts of the engine that didn't seem right.
Embry grinned at Melissa as he leaned against the car. "So, you're probably not very happy about your move, and this car situation might just make it worse, right? Well, don't worry. You'll meet other people in Forks. Plus, I'll be your friend. I'm pretty sure that my friends will also be very friendly, right Jacob?"
"Yep," Jacob replied without looking up from the engine. There was something wrong about the engine that he couldn't seem to figure out. Everything seemed fine. Maybe some of the valves were on too loose. He continued to tamper with the different parts of the engine.
Embry shrugged. "See? Jacob is actually really friendly. And loyal. But then again, that's everyone in our little 'group' for ya." He looked up at the sky, noticing that there was hardly any sun, which was typical. "Nice weather we have today. Sunny, bright..." He was trying to joke around, but it probably wasn't that funny. Then he could sense the vampire near. Seriously? You stupid thing. You had to come now? Are you for real? He ignored it for a little bit, but then figured that he didn't want to get anybody hurt, especially not Melissa.
Jacob jerked upright. He could feel the vampire as well, but he was given orders not to leave, so he looked at Embry and signaled with his hand for him to use his phone as an excuse to leave.
Embry sighed, feeling disgusting and upset that he had to leave Melissa alone with Jacob while he, Sam and the others would be fighting some stupid bloodsucker. He pulled out his phone from his pocket and widened his eyes at an imaginary text on the screen. "Oh gosh, this is serious." He looked at Melissa with sad eyes. "I'm so sorry, but I have to go. This is something important. My friend broke his hand, and they need a ride to the hospital. You'll be fine with Jacob, okay?" He managed a small smile and patted her shoulder. "I'm sorry. I'll see you in a bit." With that, he ran off.
Jacob looked over his shoulder at Embry, who had to sacrifice getting to know Melissa because of some vampire. They are all suck freaks, he thought to himself as he continued working. He looked at Melissa and sighed, upset that he wasn't paying much attention to her. Then he looked back at the engine and found something very shiny that caught his eye. It looked to be a silver piece of jewelry, maybe a necklace of some sort. "Um, Melissa, did you lose something in your engine? There's something shiny and silver here that seems to be jammed in it." [ooc: Ugh, I hate block Dx]

xxxxxxxxMelissa Ann Taylorx"Doctor! Doctor! I think my heart stopped beating."Melissa smiled, seeing that they had arrived and quickly began to fix her car up. She leaned along the side of the doors with Embry, every so often looking toward the hood as mechanic sounds were made. Right now her car was her real worry, what if it was broken beyond repair? She didn't have the money to get a new one. Her thoughts were often broken by Embry, who blabbed on and on about everything. It was cute in a way, how talkative he was, but his nervous demeanor kept him from being cuter. Her eyes perked up as he said he had to leave, Melissa looking at him then back at her car before waving him off noncholantly. She didn't care in particular wether he was there or not, as long as someone fixed her car.
She opened the front door, grabbing her phone and then slamming it shut with a bit of anger at her bad luck. Melissa took her time scrolling through her phone, looking at texts or browsing the internet; anything she could do to keep her busy. "Hm?"
Melissa lifted her body of the side of her car, leaning forward a bit before actually taking the steps to look at her own engine. "Uh, no. I don't think so." Her eyebrows quirked at his question, while she tried to hold back a laugh. How stupid the solution seemed! A piece of metal jammed in her engine, causing her so much turmoil. She grabbed onto the front of her car, peering in a bit and trying to see the inside; not an easy feat with the setting sun. "Can you reach it?"

"There are no rules that can bind you when you find your other half." "I could try," Jacob offered as he stuck his hand into the engine to try and pull the piece of metal out. He was afraid that he might just rip the necklace into pieces and it would be stuck there. Loosening some of the valves and pressure lines, he managed to pull it out after a couple attempts. Then he retightened the valves and pressure lines and closed the hood. At least the smoke was no longer there. He opened the door of the driver's seat and turned the key. The engine started to run like new, and he smiled at his success.
"Well, your car's all fixed now," Jacob said smiling. He wiped his hands clean of any oil that had gotten on his hands and leaned against the hood of the car. Then he realized that she would most likely want to go back home now, so he got off and grinned at her. "Okay, so I guess you'll be on your way now," he said as he leaned against a lamppost.
He could sense that the presence of the vampire was gone, so he assumed that Sam and the others had chased it away. Sure enough, Embry came back, sprinting over towards Melissa and Jacob. "Hey, Melissa!" he yelled as he gradually got closer. Jacob chuckled a bit at how "smooth" Embry was at this whole thing.
Embry went up to Melissa with a grin on his face. "I'm guessing that Jacob fixed your car, am I right?" He leaned against Melissa's car as he smiled and started rambling on about how his "friend" was perfectly fine. His hand wasn't broken, it was just a minor crack in the bone. He also proceeded to tell her all the details about the x-ray and how disgusting it was to see a crack in his hand. Jacob sighed and shook his head, looking up at the sky thinking, Why? When will he ever learn?
Jacob chuckled and nudged Embry in the upper arm. "Well, Embry, I'm guessing that Melissa wants to go home now, don't you think? Maybe you can talk to her about this interesting fracture some other time." He laughed and went over to Melissa. "Whenever you need anything, don't hesitate to call Embry, or me even, since Embry is as skilled with cars as he is with art: not at all." He smiled and quickly scribbled his number on a small Post-It note and handed it to Melissa, along with the silver necklace. "It's a shame it got stuck in the engine. It looks like it would have been a nice necklace."

xxxxxxxxMelissa Ann Taylorx"Doctor! Doctor! I think my heart stopped beating."Embry had come back and Melissa leaned away from her car, standing up straight as he had made his way over; seeming like a overly excited puppy. "Yeah, sure." She took the items from Jacob, looking at them in her hands while turning the necklace over a bit. "Thanks again you guys." Melissa took her eyes off the objects, looking up at the two boys who towered over her in height and size; yet they didn't seem scary at all. She let out a small huff of air, something that subsititued itself for a chuckle for Embry's story; but she made her way over to the drivers side and opened the door. "Thanks again," She pulled her mouth down for a second, it becoming normal again the next, something that seemed liike a small crindge. Melissa felt like she was jipping them, taking advantage of their time and work that they put into her car.
Melissa tapped her keys, on the car door, her stomach flip flopping again with anxiety of how to say goodbye; they just weren't her forte. "Well, I'll just go now. Thanks so much." She shrugged and gave a half smile, not knowing what else to say to the duo.
