Personally, I just tend to wing it. If I know the characters and the plot I pick a point of view to use (first, third, whatever) and I write. Just don't think about anything but what your writing and never (NEVER) look back at what you've written until you're at least done with the chapter. You can get stuck rewriting one or two paragraphs over and over again xd
