Hayden smiled at Allyster's attachment to the cat. It seemed, to Hayden, that the cat was the only female ever to actually deal with him. Though, she decided not to say anything. Instead, she found some female pajamas in the drawer and changed before going to be.
~~~~~
In the middle of the night, Hayden sat up as the slightest sound. Somewhere in the house, a window was opening. She looked around her room, though a little hard to see, but saw no one coming in. Hayden got out of bed and crept in the kitchen where she grabbed a butcher knife. Thief or not, she still knew how to defend herself in combat.
It better be that stupid cat. She thought to herself. Carefully, she tiptoed close to the living room. A dark shadow was facing the window. The figure was trying to close it but Hayden didn't understand why. A thief would never close the window. An open window was a fast easy escape. Then again, she figured this person, whoever they were, wasn't planning on stealing anything. They were planning on killing every living thing in the house. Hayden gripped the handle of the knife tighter; ready to attack.
Allyster woke up at the sound of footsteps. He could hear incredibly small sounds even when he was asleep. Morning was still asleep so he thought it might be Hayden trying to escape. He grabbed grabbed his gun and loaded it and walked out of the room. He held the gun as he followed her steps he wondered what she was doing. She was already getting on his nerves "She better not be trying to mess with anything." he said. It may have been dark but he wasn't going to let that slow him down.He heard wind and sighed maybe someone broke in and planned to kill them. He knew it wouldn't be so easy to hide. He bumped into Hayden but didn't make a sound and simply rolled his eyes and kept walking getting ready to finish the guy off.
Hayden jumped when someone bumped into her but sighed when it was only Allyster. The man in the living room paused as if to listen. Hayden flipped on the lights. The man turned around and held up his gun. Something was off about the man. A certain tattoo was planted on his neck. The symbol for the Mafia.
Hayden backed up behind Allyster, allowing him to take the man down. The man pointed his gun at Hayden, not wanting to miss. "Drop your gun or I shoot your witness. I've always been a good shot." The man gloated. Hayden rolled her eyes.
"Yeah, like that's going to make him put down his gun." She knew Allyster didn't care for her because he knew her secret only for it to never be proven. Then again, she didn't really care for him. Man cocked his gun as if to show that he wasn't kidding around. Neither was she. Hayden backed away and hid herself out of his range. The man tried to move but Allyster still had his gun at the man.
Allyster shook his head "Nope.." he said and pulled the trigger. Allystar placed the shot so it broke the gun mans arm. As he dropped the gun Allystar shot again this time hitting his other arm. The man tried to the run he kicked the lamp at the back of his head, he fell unconscious. Allystar twirled his gun 'Word to the wise...don't...ever...point..a..gun..at..someone.I...AM...PROTECTING.'he said and put the gun down. He tired the man to the couch. He yawned "Goodnight..." he said and went to his room so he cold go to sleep.
He was tired and would question him in the morning. He hopped that she was smart enough leave it alone. He laid down and realized what he said and sighed. He knew he had to say it soon and get over it but he would seriously kill her if she touched his brothers cat.
Hayden jumped at the sound of both gun shots. Even though she was really a thief, she hated hearing that sound. Always had; especially after a day like today. The man was tied to the couch and Allyster went back to bed without another word. She was pleased, however the circumstance would allow, that he had informed the killer that he was protecting her.
Hayden placed the knife back into the kitchen, turned off the light and went back to bed. This time, locking her bedroom door and securing her window nice and shut. It wasn't long before she fell asleep again.
~~~~~~
Come morning, Hayden awoke only to find the window opened again and the man gone. From the looks of it, an accomplice had helped him to escape. "Why doesn't that surprise me?" Hayden sighed at their luck and began making breakfast. The cat suddenly jumped onto the counter but made no sound at Hayden.
"You want breakfast, I presume?" The cat watched Hayden make omelets and toast but Hayden knew the cat would have to eat something else. "Well, as a peace offering, I'll get you something to eat." Oddly enough, she was able to find cat food and placed it in a regular bowl. The ate the food gladly and Hayden continued to make the food.

Allyster walked out the room and loudly yawned. He walked into the living room obviously forgetting he wasn't at home beacuse he wasn't wearing a shirt or pants for that matter. He looked at Morning eating "Oh right.." he said. He scratched the cats ears and smiled as he sat down. He pulled a book from the shelf and went into his room. He came out wearing a regular shirt and and jeans. He sighed and looked out the window. He didn't care that the man was gone anyway.
Allyster had his gun on his side but planned on enjoying a peaceful day since he couldn't go into town without Hayden flowing behind him. He hated being stuck on witness protection already. Why a detective anyway he solved cases and blew things up he hardly protected people.
Allyster ignored the smell of food even though he was hungry. He continued to read enjoying the quiet and the only sounds were the cat and Hayden so nothing extreme.

Hayden heard Allyster walk into the living. She assumed he had realized what she had. It was, after all, obvious. Hayden finished making the food and took another plate to Allyster before placing it in front of him. "Before you ask, no it's not poison. What are you reading anyway?" She asked. Allyster seemed to give her a look that would frighten anyone else but her. Hayden rolled her eyes and walked back to the kitchen. "Ok, never mind then. Just trying to make conversation. We are, after all, going to be spending a lot of time together." She grabbed her own plate in the kitchen but sat at the kitchen table instead. Hayden wanted to avoid the awkwardness of eating with him.
All the while, she couldn't shake the image in her head. Mr. Talbot shot at the bank. She had been a thief since living on her own but, in all her years, she had never seen anyone shot. Watching Mr. Talbot die, was something she would never forget. In a way, she felt it was her fault. She had seen the man in the window, now knowing he was part of the mafia, but didn't tell Mr. Talbot.
Hayden finished her food and washed the dishes. Cleaning always cleared her mind but, not today. All she could really think about was Mr. Talbot, a man she had known for a long while, dying right before her eyes. She placed the clean dishes on the rack and walked into the living room where she leaned against the wall. "Do you plan on reading all day?"

Allyster looked up at her several times as she spoke but he gave no reply to her. He shook his head when she asked him if he was going to read all day. He closed his book and looked over a her "Why do you care?" he asked as he stood up. He walked to the door and called Morning. She ran out the door and seemed to enjoy her time outside.
He walked over to the stump of a tree and sat down. He yawned and observed his brother cat and shook his head. He was supposed to go see him but he couldn't now. He yawned and started to walk leaving the cat to play with the butterfly that caught its attention. He looked around wondering where the guy came from but it wasn't his job right now.
He pulled out his gun and began to twirl it in his hand as he walked noticing the animals. She would be safe no one was so dumb to attack during the day beacuse he had a habit of shooting people who did. He shook his head and listened to the forest hoping to come across something interesting. He was bored now being stuck out here.

Hayden had no choice but to follow him. She was bored and there was nothing to do in the house which mean he was her only option for entertainment. Not to mention, the more she would get to know him the less likely he would actually kill her. "I was just asking because I was bored. As I can see you are too."
She folded her arms and looked around outside. It was beautiful but it didn't really appeal to her. Who knew how long it would take for her to be back to her usual self? What she needed was a diversion and Allyster was all she had at the moment. "Are you ever happy, Sherlock? I mean, every time I see you always look like someone, well," Hayden looked down at the cat still playing with the butterfly, "who killed your favorite pet."
Allyster twirled his gun around like it was a habit. No doubt, he was used the feel of fun. Sleeping with it, cleaning it and shooting with it. From what Hayden could put together, he took his job more seriously than others. It was probably why he was always chasing her and trying to bring her down but never good. She was just too sly for him. This, of course, made her smile inside every time he failed to bring her down.

Allyster shook his head as they walked 'I am usually trying to bring you down..." he said and he put the gun in his holster as he walked. He looked at morning and back at her "The cat isn't mine..." he said and looked at her but he kept walking. "Its like you and your stolen items." he said " Not yuors but you take it anyway until you have to give it up." he said.
Allyster looked at her " What reason is there to smile...I am a detective, nothing to smile about." he said and looked at her "Not everyone can be as carefree as you.' he said "You seem to create most of my issues." he said and yawned. He looked up "But now I am on witness protection...very irritating..." he said "Can't go see loved ones beacuse our only witness is another criminal." he said.
Allystar crossed his arm and continued on his eyes trained on his surrounding "You could have stayed at the house." he said and shook his head. He was bored and the only person here was Hayden.

Hayden rolled her eyes and shook her head. "I have no stolen items. I'm not a criminal. You have no proof that I am one." The wind slowly began to blow but it was a nice breeze. In a way, it was relaxing. Hayden watched the cat for a bit as it continued to watch the butterfly flutter away. Now the cat was bored as well as they were.
"There's a lot of reasons to smile. You have your family. You have your friends. You do have friends don't you?" Hayden teased a little but knew he still wouldn't smile. "You have your health." She shrugged. "You're alive." Hayden looked up at the sky. "At least, it's not raining. It's a beautiful day out. You can't tell me that this day isn't making you smile. It's bright." Hayden paused as she continually tried to think of other things. "On the up side, there are people trying to kill me. And you want me dead anyway." She shrugged. "I could keep going if you want me to."
Hayden had a feeling he didn't want to hear anymore. She had listed enough though she felt like she wasn't don. "You know what you need?" She asked. "You need a life. Or a girlfriend. Or both." Hayden paused again as she thought of what he would say to that. "I know, I know. It's partially my fault because I'm part of the Witness Protection Program. But I'm not a criminal." Even though he was right, she was getting tired of the fact that he constantly said it aloud. "And no, I couldn't have stayed at the house. Someone could have gotten in through the front or back door. And I'm not even sure if you're doing this on purpose. Allowing people to shoot through the house and killing me instantly."
Hayden felt the wind blew against her. She smiled at the familiar feeling and recalled when her father would take her out to in the middle of summer for walk in the fields. They would just talk about everything and anything they could think of. But when she moved to the city, all that changed.

Allyster looked at her and shook his head "Shut it...I know know who you are I just can't put you in jail." he said and looked at her ad shook his head. He felt the breeze but it made him feel empty as if he was missing something, and Miss Williams wasn't helping at all ! He began to speed up his expression was more grim by the second.
He growled violently and turned to look at her "No I don't...my only family lives in a foster home..and as for friends...I have none...no one wants to be friends with a detective alright?" he said and took a deep breath and kept walking "Health, I am a mad man." he said "Alive, not so sure." he said "To be honest even if you were killed things would seem empty." he said.
She was growing o be a nuisance but he had to protect her beacuse he didn't want to fail no matter how much he wanted her to be put in jail.He shrugged "You need to learn how to fight...maybe someone with a gun wouldn't scare you." he said. He turned around a drew the gun and held it out to her "I may have to protect you but I don't like being around completely useless people." he said "So you might wanna try and learn how to use it in case," he said.

Hayden threw her hands in the air as if giving up on trying to convince him. He was cleaver, she admitted, but that didn't give her a right a reason to confess everything to him. No one knew her secret. Well, her secret that she had told. Allyster knew but Hayden would never admit that.
A magician never reveals their secret. She thought with a inside grin. Although she hated him constantly trying to prove that she was, indeed, the Night's Mistress, she did enjoy that fact that he was practically a toy. He was fun to play with, at times but those times were slowly getting old.
"Well, aren't you just a stick in the mud." Hayden sighed. "You have no friends, I think, because you don't want any. You're too hung up on this Night's Mistress, whoever she is, that you're too busy to have your own life. You're not mad because, if you were, you would be in a psych ward."
Which I will gladly check you into, She added in her head. The possibilities of him actually finding proof were slim but he was getting close. Very close.
"You need a vacation. Since I'm under your care, why don't we just go somewhere. The Bahamas, Figi, Jamaica. Somewhere, where you can relax. And actually have a good time. You do know what a good time is right?" She asked. The look on his face said it all. "Apparently, not." Hayden looked around trying to think of something to keep his mind off her other identity. If she didn't act fast, the lack of the Night's Mistress would strike the papers fast. And that would only encourage Allyster to dig deeper.
"Well," she began again, "if you don't go to someplace foreign, we could go dancing. I'm sure there's a club around here somewhere. You need to have fun."

Allyster He looked at her "No I am mad ,I blew up the Psychiatric ward when I was in there." he said. He shrugged "And I have tried to have friends..." he said "Besides, your right for one thing, I am too busy with my job." he said.
Allyster looked at her " By the gods you annoy me." he said "Sooner or later the lack of strikes mad by the Night Mistress would hit papers." he said. He stood there for a second and let out a sigh "Oh screw it!" he said " I'm going into town and so are you." he said.
He was bored and annoyed and something to do would be great. He closed his eyes as he walked back to the house but stopped midway "Besides...I want to go home." he said. Though he wished she had shut up, she did have a point, though he knew she wanted to steal something.
He shook his head and went inside and searched his bag. He found his phone and called someone. He had to drop this cat off at his brothers.

Hayden shook her head in disbelief. She didn't think he had it in him to actually blow up a Psychiatric ward when he was there. Hayden didn't really think he had it in him to do so. But she left it at that. She believed that if she pushed any further he really would go mad and actually shoot her.
She couldn't help but chuckle when he said she annoyed him. It was the same way with her, at times. He was very persistent in trying to catch her. Which didn't really surprise her when he realized what she had. It was only a matter of time before people would being to wonder about the Night's Mistress and her lack of stolen items.
"If you want to go home, then why didn't you say so in the first place?" She asked and followed him. The cat realized Allyster was moving back towards the house and began to follow them. As Allyster made a phone call, Hayden sat on the couch as she waited.
