I mean, they did those Monkey Island games, but I bought the first one and it does not look as good as this. I'm not saying the graphics are AMAZZZZINGGGG but I just don't think they're quite possible on WiiWare. Now, retail, I could see. Maybe once all the episodes are out. Didn't they do that with Sam and Max?

That said if they didn't it wouldn't be all that shocking either, it seems as though their focus is on downloadable games.
Yeah I guess you are right. I'm sure they could compress it and put it on WiiWare, and they could make it look better, and they could make their mouths actually have decent lip syncing, but it's all a matter of developers being lazy, which they are.

Soooo I think that joke's been pretty much driven into the ground already... wink
You are the ultimate hypocrite.

Episodes?
That's ******** retarded.
The makers of Super Meat Boy put it best.
“It’s a way for companies to trick you into paying more for a game.”
Tales of Monkey Island complete is $35. That's cheaper than most games. You're only wasting money if you don't enjoy it, and you can figure that out by the first episode.

That's cheap compared to retail games, not download games.

And a retail game is exactly what it should be compared to.

It's got a completely different art-style to Jett Rocket, for starters. Galaxy and Jett Rocket are the only games on the Wii I've seen that look that good which leads me to believe that games can only really look that good with a certain art-style. Also it was designed specifically to work with the Wii's limitations, whereas this was made for the other consoles first, and I imagine hacking off bits of a game designed for more powerful consoles till it fits 50 MB would be pretttty difficult.

Also, I don't know why you think I'm being hypocritical, but I'm sorry you feel that way.

It's a downloadable game, so it should be compared to a retail sell game?

Naw.

It's a download, and most downloadable game are from 10 to 15 dollars.

You compare it based upon its content, not how it's distributed. Black Ops was also released digitally, yet it follows retail pricing.

In one game.
And the difference there is that it was released primarily retail.

And if it was released digitally only, it's not worth more than $15?

The thing with retail is the money goes to a bunch of different people, whereas with downloadable titles it mostly goes to the developer, right? I probably wouldn't want to pay 60 dollars for a PSN game, but if the quality was as good as most retail games I don't think I'd have too big a problem paying 35.

The development costs has a massive impact on the price as well. The reason Black Ops is more expensive than Super Meat Boy is fairly obvious. It's not just because it sits on a retailer's shelf.

This BTTF game probably has a lot going into it. Besides, on TellTale's website, the game is preordering for $25. I don't see how that's taking advantage of anyone.

It's got awful lip syncing and it graphically looks pretty weak, and they can't use "it's a Wii version" as an excuse this time. This is the PS3, the cream of the graphical crop for consoles, and it looks like a crappily made Wii game or a PS2 game. That's all I'm saying.

That aside, it might be cool, who knows. I don't really know what the gameplay will be like.
PostPosted: Tue Dec 07, 2010 11:41 pm
Eh, I don't think it looks crappily made. It's a cartoony style, sure, and I'm not always fond of that, but that's just what Telltale does... I mean, the characters look like the characters. Also the attention to detail is pretty cool. Doc Brown's place looks like it does in the movies.

The graphics don't look amazing, I'll give you that. But I don't think they look BAD... just... fine. They do the job, as far as I'm concerned.

Okay I watched the trailer again and pretended it was for a Wii game, and... I am gonna have to disagree with you, Fish. To me that is pretty damn impressive for a Wii game. Better than Ghostbusters... >_> (sorry Trenn but god I hated the graphics for the Wii version of Ghostbusters)
