I have so much trouble with fore-shooting and perspective. I can do it great with buildings and geometric shapes (even though I suck at technical drawing) but I can't do it with figures, clothing or accessories (even though I'm better at that sort of drawing). Go figure.

That must be terrible but wonderful at the same time. .-. I however imagine you could make some awesome looking robots using that if I have it correct in my mind~ And robots are always fun~
Oh and I know that feeling Shandrel~ Where you just can't get it perfect so you get a little disappointed~ Or just something does not look right after wards. It is just how people are. .-.

Tried robots. Didn't work. They looked more like cardboard box approximations. stressed

ScarletFrost Yeah, some of the guiding spines on her tail fins don't line up right, but I spent an hour experimenting with different styles and curves, so when this looked 80% right, I just went with it. xp Its not the spines that make me twitch, its the way the far side tail fluke bends. If the far fluke tilted up, it would be fine. But the three pairs in question (3, 4, and 5 from the body end, respectively) are not positioned in a way that looks comfortable for the mermaid >.> It looks like they (the webbing) would be ripping. If #4 (the pair that has the spine we can't see on the far side) was raised so you could barely see the end, then the rest raised accordingly, it would flow much more smoothly and more accurately mirror the side we can see. I'm not trying to be an art critic gonk I really like your drawing, I'm just mildly a**l about proper articulation.

Wow...
I never ever would have noticed that, if it wasn't pointed out.
Actually erin, you are an art critic, and a damn good one to catch that so easily. Now I know who to go to when something is off on my pic but I just don't know what... sweatdrop
... And I still say it's a damn fine picture too, even knowing and understanding erin's critique, the tail fin doesn't strike me, unless I concentrate on it. I love the look on the siren's face, and that is what captures me, and that is what is important to me.

Eltanin Sadachbia ...... the tail fin doesn't strike me, unless I concentrate on it. I love the look on the siren's face, and that is what captures me, and that is what is important to me. Exactly. The face is the focal point- the tail's just the icing on the cake. If you don't follow the body lines like I do, the fin wouldn't register. If anyone wants me to do the critic thang, I do artwork and written word (poetry, fanfic, etc.) If you want it done but have no pressing need, its free. If you want it done fast, we may have to barter XD
