David Audney SykesSick, I, I'm going to be sick.David followed Melissa, all the while his stomach spinning around as if a washing machine had been replaced for his guts.
She had taken him to the field, where they taught first years how to fly their brooms.
"Alright, here we are!" Together they stood outside of a building, storage area for equipment, where the brooms were.
"I-I don't think--""Alohomora."David felt the bile in his throat rise a bit, burning his traechea as he looked at the doors lock open and fall to the floor.
"Hm, one would think it would be a little tougher to get in." From there Melissa had taken her wand and slipped it back into her sloppy uniform's pocket. She pushed the door open with her hands, no magic.
"Let's go." Melissa had twisted her head a bit, looking back at David, who realized how scared and nervous being out made him. His skin felt cold, he couldn't tell if it was the wind or his own fearful heart; but still he followed.
"I-I can't see anything..."He could hear a small breath of annoyance from Melissa, but he couldn't help but speak those words, he didn't know what else to say.
"Lumos."David closed his mouth completely, whereas before it was slightly open.
"Ah! Here they are!" Light had emitted from Melissa's wand, which she had pulled out again, and before he knew it she had split away from her and grabbed onto a broomstick. With one hand she pulled it down, looking at it and smirking largely.
"Here," she turned to him fast, throwing the broomstick at him. Quickly and clumsily, David caught it. He looked down at the thin bristle like stick in his hands, it was slightly amazing how such a light flimsy looking contraption could hold its own.
Before he knew it he could feel the quick brush of breeze as Melissa had walked past him. He turned around, clutching the broom in his hand as it was held at waist length.
"Wait!" But she didn't even turn around, continuing to walk toward the large field before them.
"At least tell me how to close it!""Try, Colloportus!"With a shaky hand and heart, David left the building, standing outside the doors once again before he reached for his wand with a free hand. He pointed it at the solid frames and coughed, his nerves making his hand shake.
"Co-colloportus."The doors had closed, sealing shut as a noise confirmed they were locked. He sighed, feeling relieved of having to do any spells or magic before sticking his wand back into his own pocket. He swallowed and sighed, taking off in the same direction that Melissa had.
When he stood up at the top of the field he couldn't find her, just the wind lightly whipping at the grass beneath his own feet.
"Up here!" Melissa was ontop of her broom, her body laying down on it while her hands cradled her chin. She acted as if she wasn't in the air, as if she was resting ontop of a table or desk.
"Come on, mount. You know how don't you?"David had been slightly shell-shocked but snapped out of it, lifting one leg up to slip the broom beneath it. From there he pushed off the ground with his feet, his broom taking off and launching him into the air.
David wasn't exactly steady on his broom, he uncomfortably wiggled on it, but Melissa was in her element.
"Hm, hey. Should we race?"
