Livebirth

Livebirth is a scholar. Her days are devoted entirely to collecting, carefully and slowly, an assortment of botanical specimens and wisdom relating thereunto. She carefully surveys locals, and conducts experiments where the information is not complete. She will gladly, in the name of information, subject herself to unknown effects. She is aided by a songbird and a sluggish tortoise, who help her carry her treasures away to a hollow grandfather-tree (guarded by a pair of fiercely loyal Eaglehounds) where each dried leaf is pasted up with mud and sap, or planted, if possible, and carefully, so carefully, labeled as benign or malicious or neither, and categorized with a system of symbols only Livebirth knows. She seeks apprentices to pass on her information. So absorbed is she in her work she can be difficult to approach--but approached she is, perhaps due to the stunning beauty which she is so utterly unaware of, and wouldn't care about if she noticed.

Hellbender

lazy | enlightened | unpredictable

Hellbender is as lazy and laidback as her name suggests. From her designated lounging-spot near the western edge of the swamp she reclines day in and day out, rousing only long enough to eat and return. To all appearances she is a useless sort, but her insights are sharp and occasionally difficult to decipher--because Hellbender is saving her energy, as she would gladly tell those who ask, for the explorations of the dreamworld. Hellbender is one of those Kimeti who lives in sleep and dies at waking, and her wisdom in dreamwalking is available for the taking--if anyone thinks to ask.

Spite

vicious | dishonest | driven

Spite is caught between two worlds. An innocent-enough filly, something happened--she won't say what--that left her questioning, searching, and eventually falling into a deep malice. Who knows what it will take to bring the doe back from the brink of darkness? She has already set her eyes on power and bloodshed, towards some unknown--perhaps non-existent--end. Those who knew her in happier times suggest that her heartless acts are turned only towards chaos--that she is living up to her name, and acting only out of spite.

Waterside

competitive | strong | ambitious

Waterside is her mother's daughter: tough, dedicated, stoic. She has a will of her own, however, unlike Jasper--and a deeply feminine side that enjoys masculine attention and especially masculine jealousy. She enjoys a position of superiority and has a competitive streak that could easily lead her to trouble down the road.





Totem is sort of the Tidewalkers' shared pet, but really, he belongs entirely to Waterside

Hollow Bones

insane | insightful | fragile

By turns made of terrified frailty and stout oak, Hollow Bones is tortured by what seems to be a sort of insanity. Unable to feel any emotion at anything but a fever pitch, she is wrought by grief when feeling glum would suffice, and desperately ecstatic when another might merely smile. She has a habit of plunging headlong into danger or succumbing to delirious visions, and so she is closely monitored by her protective and ever-patient brother, Branch-Borne. Her madness brings an otherwordly, delicate aura that can be appealing, but she can be a danger to herself and others--heartbreaking innocence and a strange, cynical wisdom are a dangerous combination for the emotions of anyone close to her.

Lookout

steadfast | patient | introverted

A mysterious silent sentinel, Lookout is always watchful. He speaks little--it is difficult to draw him out--but there is a compelling charisma to him that frequently tempts people to try and open him up anyway. Perhaps it is his eternally-calm demeanor; perhaps it is the way he seems like the sort of person one can unquestioningly trust. Little is known about what lies beneath the unruffled exterior.

Comely

eerie | indecipherable | lonesome

It is impossible to determine whether the ethereal Comely’s actions are geared towards good or evil. Her cryptic statements are frequently morbid, even threatening—but she will just as readily free a mouse caught in the mud. In any case, her mind is slightly off-kilter, and her obvious yearning to get to know everyone she encounters is more unsettling and pathetic than charming. A strange one.

Thousand Blows
aka Thousand

hardened | persistent | wry

With her drawling sense of graveyard humor and furrowed brow, Thousand Blows seems much older than her youthful years. Truly the child of her surroundings, she is hard, tough, and stubborn: despite her fragile frame, all petite hooves and bony ribs, she insists on her worthiness, and strives constantly to better herself. Perhaps it is from this place of suffering that she finds her strange sense of humor necessary. In any case, a complaint will never cross her lips.

Followthrough
aka Follow

stubborn | practical | strange

It’s easy to make the mistake of thinking that Followthrough is a bit dim. She fixates strangely on certain concepts and ideas, and will simply stare blankly in the face of a joke. It isn’t that she doesn’t get the joke, exactly; it’s more that she doesn’t get the point of a joke to begin with. Practical to a fault, Followthrough likes to make a goal and achieve it, simple as that. She hasn’t got time for sarcasm or a sense of humor. Never mind that her goals frequently make no sense to an outsider: the eccentric, detached Followthrough will, as her name suggests, pursue them to the bitter end.

Falcondive

folksy | friendly | active

Cheery, down-to-earth, and sweet as honey, Falcondive’s outgoing friendliness can be grating if one is not taken in by her folksy simplicity. A capable friend and valuable ally, the athletic, playful doe doesn’t have an abundance of intelligence, and has a tendency to ask stupid questions. Don’t be taken in, though—when it comes to intuition, the Kiokote has a streak of surprising acuity, and her trust can be hard to come by if she senses that your character is lacking.

Pigeon

poetic | shy | pretentious

A wannabe Bohemian, Pigeon has a lyric streak, an introspective demeanor, and a woeful tendency to think himself superior. This manifests as a polite but unapproachable aloofness, and seems an odd contrast to the fact that his mate and best friend is Falcondive: a doe who is everything, one would think, that Pigeon does not stand for. Despite his artsy exterior the stallion has a tough resistance to hardship, and is as good as anyone at bending his head to the wind and trudging onwards. Perhaps it is because the best songs are born in suffering.

Fix

cheery | childish | loving

Why experience life half-heartedly? A creature full of adoration for his fellow Kin, Fix is outgoing in the extreme. Seeing the best in everyone around him, he makes friends easily, and the only thing he loves more than talking is listening to someone else. This trusting nature does mean that he is at times easily injured, but he won't hold a grudge--not for very long, anyway. Surprisingly, this entire outlook comes bundled with an unusual view on the truth: a person can trust Fix with her life, but should never, ever trust him not to lie.

Old Music

dignified | gentle | pensive

As graceful and elegant a presence as can be imagined, Old Music is by turns intimidating, sweet, and withdrawn. She has the steely dignity of a lady and the gentle touch of a foal, wrapped up in an appearance that is more handsome and impressive than truly beautiful. Despite her kindness, she spends plenty of time in her own head and has few true friends: something about her otherworldly composure makes her a difficult object for friendship and affection.

Honeysuckle

mellow | nomadic | detached

Honeysuckle may look as sweet as her namesake, but there is an odd, detached air to her actions. Mellow to the point of seeming apathetic, the chronic wanderer's mantra may well be "cool it, man." Despite this outward lack of interest, she seems curiously motivated to ask people for their stories, and makes a great listener, with a calming presence that borders on hypnotic. She has little to say for herself, preferring instead to speak of others, as if she is merely a vessel for the aggregate experiences of her many fleeting acquaintances.

Hivemind

creepy | alien | sweet

Hivemind only wants the best. For you. For her. For all of us. For everyone. Hivemind wants you to be happy. Hivemind wants to be happy. Hivemind wants us to be happy.

Hivemind's ideas of "best" and "happy" might unsettle some.

That's okay. It's for the greater good.
