Nabelin curled up on the bed, shivering. She forgot to pull a blanket over her before she fell asleep. She coughed, her breathing rattling in her lungs.

Eralin ate slowly, trying not to be an elvish pig like his parents sometimes called him. He set down his fork and took a drink of the fresh water in his glass. His eyes sparkled like the water he was drinking when the rest of his food came.

A nurse came into the room with the medicine Kain had prescribed for her patient. Since the young woman wouldn't be able to go and get it now that she was staying in the ward, they'd provide it for her until she began to recover. "Excuse me, Miss..." she checked the notes at the bottom of the bed, "Nabelin. I have some medicine here for you" She moved over to place the tray bearing a cup of water and two small pills on the bedside table.

A light tap at the door frame made her turn around to see one of the doctors from the adjoining clinic standing in the doorway. He was holding an arrow and looked sort of distracted. "Oh, Doctor Amaranth, did you come here to see Nabelin? Was there something wrong with the prescription? I just brought in the medicine for her but she has not taken it yet"

***

The waitress who brought the serving tray over to the table was a human, although she hadn't been completely unaltered from her stint in the compound. Her hair was a pale blue and her eyes were soft mauve, as pretty as a flower. "Here you are sir, sorry for the wait" she smiled apologetically. They were busy today. Still, lots of customers meant the place was a good one.

She glanced curiously at his ears and then looked away, busying herself with placing the items on the table.

Nabelin was just beginning to wake up when the nurse walked in. "Uh..." She slowly got up and ran her hands through her hair. She eyed the water and the pills. "I will be glad to take this, as long as it makes me feel better." She lasped into her native speech, and she didn't know if the nurse or Doctor Amaranth spoke Elvish.

Eralin calmed down, his eyes widened at the sight of her blue hair. "Excuse me miss, but is your hair supposed to be blue?" He came from a race of people who's hair color was the normal range, brown, black, red, and blonde. He quietly lifted his glass and observed the waitress. He had never seen a human before, so he didn't know what they were like, or what they looked like. "Why did you look at my ears? There is nothing special about them."

Entrance to Purri Town
- (Bess and Midnight Arrive)

Their journey thankfully had been an easy one, a simple day trip in good lighting, with Bess keeping to the safest trails.

They had crossed over the river that forked towards the insect tribe. They then skirted around the canine tribe, sandwiched between the borders of the insect tribe territory on the other side. They paused for a rest around noon, at a clearing beside a clean stream where they could cool their feet and drink. Rustling and animal sounds had echoed through the trees and undergrowth throughout the day but fortunately no monsters or wild animals had appeared.

It was late afternoon with the sun dipping low near the horizon by the time they stepped onto the cobbled road that lead over a small stone bridge and into the well-known Purri Town. Two guards dressed in elven style clothing stood at the bridge with crossed spears and swords at their waists, blocking access.

Bess stepped forwards and showed them first her tribe token, then Aidenna’s letter. One guard took it and read over it then said something to her. She looked back at Midnight briefly “She’s a friend who is staying with the hoofed tribe currently. I’m her escort. She doesn’t have a token but that letter has Aidenna's signed permission” Bess smiled.

The letter seemed to be enough however and the spears were lifted to let them pass. “Be careful on this bridge” Bess cautioned, watching her step as they made their way across, “It doesn’t have any railings. You can fall right off” she chuckled, "Don't wobble"

Kain stepped into the room hearing someone speak a very pretty language as he did so. It seemed Nabelin was still awake. He smiled.

"No that's fine. She still needs to take the medicine, I just came to return this" Kain held up the arrow. He walked over to Nabelin's bed and sat down on the chair beside it. Pushing his glasses up again and brushing cream strands away from his eyes, he leant down to give it to her, holding the crafted item out. She would be able to see what colour his eyes were if she dared to look; a warm chocolate that matched nicely with his lighter hair. "Here, I brought this for you. I accidentally kept it when you dropped the quiver earlier" He smiled sheepishly, a little embarrassed that he'd forgotten to give it back.

His other hand rested near his side, holding a pocket diary.

The waitress had been about to walk away when he commented on her hair and she saw him looking at it with a sort of awed expression. Her fingers flew up to hover over it nervously and she flushed lightly. "Uh...n-no" she stammered, her soft voice barely able to be heard over the normal sounds of the dining area. "It was...changed, when I first c-came here". She blinked as though startled into realising where her hand had gone to and it dropped to her side instantly. Food safety rules had surfaced in her mind. Not supposed to touch hair or face...

"Eeh?"

She jumped a little and stiffened at his next question. Much to her chagrin she'd replied with a questioning sound instead of a proper answer.

Oh no, he had noticed her looking. There she goes again with her fascination of elves. She mentally kicked herself. 'Stop it! how many times has the head waitress told me to stop staring at our customers. This is what I get for my trouble'

She knew that elves had sharp eyes but she hadn't meant for him to see her looking at his ears. He probably thought she was rude, "Um...I'm sorry" her cheeks pinkened further and she looked down at the empty tray she was holding, her voice almost a whisper now. "I just..." her sentence faltered as she took in an involuntary breath, almost forgetting to breathe "...thought they...were pretty"

Her hands shook slightly and she could feel the heat on her face now. "So-sorry, I really should get back to work. Pl...please enjoy your meal" bowing quickly, the waitress hurried off, back behind the serving counter.

Forested Borders of Human/Elven Tribe

“I know she’d appreciate it. She’s a busy lady.” Bess smiled and watched Midnight twirl the spear as they continued their walk, fascinated by her skill and the way she was able to move with it. It was almost as though it was a part of her.

“Does all of your tribe learn to wield weapons from a young age? You seem to be a total natural with that.” In fact, she looked very relaxed and at home, Bess thought, observing her posture and manner. It was probably good to be able to breathe and do whatever she wanted without having to worry about the villagers or the rules.

Bess listened to the name Midnight came up with and tested the words, echoing them in her mind, tasting them on her tongue by speaking them silently. The burnished wood of the spear was glowing in the soft sunlight that dappled the trails and the metal tip winked brightly. Hey, hadn’t Midnight said that her mate’s name was Morning? She smiled at the idea, “I think that fits it perfectly. So, you’re good at naming things too? That’s a relief” she giggled and looked at Midnight’s belly meaningfully.

Forested Borders of Human/Elven Tribe

Midnight nods. "At the age of eight we are pressed into mandatory weapon training for a week or so. This helps figure out which weapons we like and which we are good with."

Following Bess' eyes down to her pregnant middle Midnight laughed, the sudden action causing her large belly to jiggle. "I wish..." Midnight replied, holstered her new spear, now dubbed Morning Glory, across her back in the leather thong that encircled her upper torso. "The little ones remain unnamed as of yet because Morning and I never got around to talking about such things before our capture and while we believe I carry three children, we want their names to match their sex."

Entrance to Purri Town

Midnight silently nodded her thanks to the city guards as they passed them and pressed onward across the bridge. Despite her pregnant bulk, Midnight proved herself nimble as a jungle cat as Bess led them across and into the city. "Pft, too easy..." Midnight commented, safely dismounting the bridge on the other side alongside Bess.

Nabelin took her arrow, and ran her finger over the etchings. "This is a special arrow, given to me on my 16th birthday. Very long ago." She smiled, even though she still spoke in her native language. Her eyes brightened at that memory, and she searched Dr. Kain's eyes. She gently touched his face, her eyes a bit worried. She realized what she was doing and jerked her hand away, using that same hand to cover her mouth when she coughed. Tears welled up in her eyes. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry." She lasped into English that was accented by that same musical accent.

Eralin pushed his plate away. The food was wonderful and the drink was excellent. He paid the exact amount for his food and got up. Evening was falling, he could sense it in the tavern. He put down a little extra for the blue hair waitress, and then he turned around and went back to the inn.

Entrance to Purri Town

Bess pondered over what Midnight had said while they travelled. It made sense that they would train their children from a young age with all the dangers in Purri. A lot of tribes did the same; especially the reptile tribe, who trained their members almost before they could walk. She figured Midnight and Mornings’ children would be trained in the same way.

“Wow, three, that’s a lot of responsibility,” Bess mused. “You’ll have your hands full but you seem strong enough to handle it. Well, just wait till we go to the clinic. The ultrasound machine can even tell you what gender each baby is if you want to find out. If you don’t want to know, you just tell the doctor and they keep it a secret” she shrugged. “They’re good at that. I don’t know how good they’d be at helping out with names though. Just better hope that you and Morning are reunited before they get here”.

Bess laughed and shook her head as they left the bridge and wandered into the main streets of the town. “Hey, I’d give you a ten out of ten if I knew what the rules are on tummy jiggling” she giggled, “For that effort…” she placed a finger to her bottom lip as though she had to think about the answer, “You get a nine” Bess eventually concluded, continuing further into the town.

The buildings and streets were beautiful here; trees and flowering plants were planted amongst the streets, which were paved in patterns made by different coloured stone. The people here seemed graceful and dressed in fine garb and everything was clean and well kept.

“So, now I just have to remember where the clinic is. I think it’s this way”

Bess looked around, hesitating before turning off to go down another street. She arrived in front of a white building with planter pots of flowers either side of the double doors and a neat sign on one of them. Gold lettering glimmered in the syrupy afternoon sunlight, “Purri Town Clinic. Open. This is it”.

Kain listened to her reply to returning the arrow. He couldn’t understand what she was saying, though she didn’t seem unhappy so it had to be a good thing. In fact, he was happy to see that she seemed to brighten somewhat at its return. Maybe she would recover faster if she kept up a positive attitude. It looked like this arrow meant something to her.

Kain blinked when he noticed Nabelin's gaze on him, wondering whether she had just asked him a question or something. “Er, sorry I don’t speak any of the Elvish languages. I haven’t had much time to study, since I’m usually always here”

He stilled when she placed her hand on his cheek, wondering what she was doing. Her palm felt slightly clammy yet also cool and soft, slender fingers brushing the tips of his hair and the arm of his glasses. He studied her face without really meaning to, casually noting the colour of her hair and the shape and hue of her eyes.

Has she never seen a human before? Maybe I look like someone she knows. Granted, there aren’t a lot of humans in this world. Kain watched her hand recoil as though she had touched a hot poker, only to then witness her go into another coughing fit and much to his confusion, dissolve into tears.

Thinking in his medical minded way, Kain assumed it must be that she was in pain or embarrassed about the coughing or both. He thoughtfully handed her a clean tissue to dry her eyes upon. "Here. It’s alright, there’s no need to apologise. It’s not like you can help coughing” he smiled gently, getting to his feet, “That's what the medicine is for. I’ll tell the nurse to get you something for the pain as well. I should have thought about that earlier when I prescribed the medication and forgot you won’t be able to visit the chemist. I'm the one who should apologise”

Kain headed towards the door, knowing he really should prepare by reading over the data for his next patient, “Alright, I’ll go and let you rest now. I had better get back to the clinic. I hope you feel better soon. Maybe we’ll run into each other again if you lose any more of those arrows”

With another little smile, he disappeared from the room, not knowing that the diary he’d shoved into his pocket had fallen out onto the floor when he stood. It had tumbled under the chair beside her bed and landed with the pages open. Without it, Kain was going to be in a lot of trouble. It was an organiser with notes, shopping lists, appointments and a lot of other things he would otherwise forget.

Peridot was on her way back to the inn where she had been staying for the past month or so. The blue haired waitress had finished her shift after only two more clients and ended up leaving around the same time as Eralin, though she didn’t know it.

She sighed as she walked the quiet streets, yawning sleepily behind her hand as she looked up at the stars. It was nice being able to see them like this. Before coming to Purri she had lived in a city and you could never see them so clearly. The streets in Purri town were softly lit with ornate lanterns bearing candle-flower oil, or paper lanterns that decorated the trees lining them. They were extinguished at a curfew each night.

“It was such a busy shift at work today. I made a bit more to put into my savings” she mumbled softly, lightly fingering the embroidered silk purse at her side and hearing the soft clink of coins. It was slung over her left shoulder on a twined black silk string. “One of the customers left me a good tip. Wish I knew who it was. Too bad I still don’t have enough to buy my own place” She could see the welcoming lights of the inn approaching as she walked along the side street. “Almost home” Little did she know she was passing under the window of Eralin’s room, which looked down upon the street she walked through.

Something rustled in the bushes beside the street, which backed onto the forest.

Nabelin furrowed her brow. He didn't understand Elvish? I thought EVERYONE understood Elvish. It's such a common language nowadays. Nabelin reached for the pills and quickly downed them with water. She looked around the room, and noticed something was off. A book lay next to her bed, papers strewn everywhere. She got up and gingerly picked them up, even as going as far to organize them according to contents. She slid the book underneath her pillow where it could stay out of sight until the owner came back. She didn't bother to read it, since she could read only a little bit of the human language. After all that, her eyes became cloudy with tiredness. Yawning, she pulled a blanket over her body and head and slept peacefully, only once or twice did she cough.

Eralin looked out from the window, and followed Peridot with his eyes. Something sparked in his heart after that exchange, and he was mulling it over. He wasn't good with women, except his sister, but even then, he hadn't seen her in a very long time. He saw the bushes rustle and tensed. Something's gonna happen, I know it! Eralin grabbed his weapons and clattered down the steps. He quietly opened the inn's front door and slipped outside. He gently touched Peridot's arm, not intending to scare her. His knife was strapped to his leg, just like Nabelin's, but a bit higher, so he wouldn't have to reach down. He drew the knife, and held it by the handle, just in case there was any unknown danger. He turned and looked at her. "We meet again, though in different circumstances." He glanced around. "What are you doing here? It's night, and you should be in a bed, snug and asleep." What a royal idiot I sound like.

"Agreed, I would hate to give birth without my mate present." Midnight replied, gently poking her large belly with a finger as she pondered names for the three creatures that grew within her. "Hopefully Morning will have some exotic name ideas when that time comes."

---------------------------------------------------------------

"Interesting looking building..." Midnight comments, looking over the large white building before her. "So if all that makes this place so special is this ultrasound thingy, why is the place so big? Surely the machine you mentioned can't be that big..."

Being from a small fairly simple tribe, technology was always Midnight's Achilles' heel. And given that her mother was also the tribe shaman, medical technology was completely unheard of to her.

((OOC:I realise I've messed up the continuity by placing everyone in different times of day again. We're going to have to fiddle a bit and just write in Midnight's visit to Kain as though it were happening earlier in the evening before he closed up and went to see Nabelin. As for Eralin and Peridot...those two are on their own. Until the time switches to the next day and everyone ends up on the same morning together, things are gonna be a wee bit messy. Please bear with me. If you get confused just shoot me a PM))

Kain hadn't been in Purri all that long and though he knew a few words of the language, he had not learned nearly enough to be able to understand it, let alone speak it fluently.

It was something the doctor had on his backburner of things to do while he was here; learn the language. Which elvish language exactly, he would have to work out. Not all Elvish people in Purri were from the same world. Some had been brought from other places, where the language yes, was still very beautiful but differed from that which others spoke.

Had he realised he had dropped the all important organiser back in one of his patient's rooms, he would be having a small heart attack. Yet he was kept occupied by a steady stream of patients after he returned from visiting Nabelin, one of which was a pregnant Were-bear.

It was rolling around to closing time when he finally logged off the computer and packed up. He was heading out the door when he remembered he wanted to check something and patted his pocket. Kain realised the small leather journal was not there. "Wait...what?" he continued to search his pockets for the missing item, shifting the satchel he had slung over his shoulder and patting the other pocket of his jeans in perplexion.

"What's wrong doctor? Have you lost something?" the fairy-floss pink haired nurse he'd just said goodbye to was gathering her things from behind the desk and she looked up when he paused at the door, hearing the pats and sighs of frustration as well as the sound of the door closing, but Kain still standing there.

"Oh Quoia, I don't know where my organiser went. I can't believe this. I always have it with me and it must have fallen out of my pocket -" he bit his lip and sighed again, frowning in consternation as he finished searching the inside of his satchel. "Darn, darn, it's not here. Where could it be?!" Kain placed a finger alongside his temple, resting his chin on thumb and thinking, closing his eyes as his brow furrowed. "Unh...this is bad. I can't even remember losing it".

The receptionist nurse walked over to him and lightly placed her hand on his arm, wearing a look of concern. "Oh, that's no good. It has to be around here somewhere. Think of all the places you've been today." Quoia suggested.

"You went to the large clinic to visit that young elf lady. Maybe you could ask the reception there if they've seen it" she smiled and patted his arm, before opening the door to leave, "Try not to get so stressed. I've heard it's bad for your health. Well, I'll see you tomorrow. I hope you find it"

***

A light knocking sounded against the door of Nabelin's room and the nurse who stationed the reception in the larger clinic (the hospital as it were), stepped inside. "Excuse me" she shook Nabelin's shoulder to wake her. "Sorry to wake you Miss Nabelin but there's a doctor here to see you. He was here earlier today"

Peridot was lost in her own dreamy thoughts when a hand fell upon her arm. She squealed softly and instantly clapped her hands over her mouth to squash the sound as she whirled to see who it was.

Why, it was the man she had seen earlier that evening. The one who caught her staring at him. Her mauve eyes shone with recognition even as a blush warmed her face. She lowered her hands to ask him what he wanted, not seeing him draw the knife as it was a very subtle and graceful motion. "Oh, good evening! Y-you almost startled me a little bit" she greeted with a warm though rather timid smile, trying to keep the quaver out of her voice.

"Um, yes..." Peridot blinked at his words, listening carefully so as not to mis-hear. She felt nervous, her heart fluttering faster against her ribs like a frantic butterfly.

"Oh I was on my way home from work. I live in this inn. That room there". She pointed up to the window beside Eralin's before she could stop herself, wondering with some alarm why she was telling a perfect stranger where she lived.

When he said she should be snug in bed, she merely nodded, shaking slightly both from the night breeze and her own state of mind, "I...ye-er...yers, I mean yes! You're right. I shouldn't walk in the dark alone. It was busier tonight than expected" Peridot giggled softly and waved a hand, embarrassed. She had no idea what she was saying.

The waitress could feel the heat spread right from her chest to her face like a wave. Her palms felt clammy. Just great. She hoped he couldn't see her blush. Peridot felt like an idiot. She took a step back out of the light of the lanterns, towards the bushes on the side of the road, trying to hide it from him.

Just then, the giant toad-like monster that had been watching her this whole time hopped out of the bushes and landed in the middle of the road behind her with a splat. It glared at them with it's single red eye, letting out a horrible croak. It's horny head was turned towards them and it opened its mouth, a green tongue whipping out and snapping around Peridot's waist.

Peridot's eyes widened as she gasped in fearful astonishment, "Ahh!"

(Save her, Eralin! Lol.)

"Oh, is he good with names?" Bess answered Midnight with another question, stepping into the clinic and holding the door open for her.

She chuckled at the woman's wonderings while she waited for her to come inside, "A machine as big as a whole building? While it's not impossible, that's just silly. Why don't you come on in and find out for yourself?"

As the two women stepped into the main waiting room, the receptionist behind the desk looked up at their entrance and smiled. "Good evening, welcome to Purri Town Clinic. How can I help you ladies today?" she greeted, sounding cheerful and generally friendly. She was instantly noticeable with her cute uniform and fairy-floss pink hair and eyes.

"Don't know. Never really asked him." Midnight answers with a shrug, as she followed Bess forward into the building. "Although considering our names I think it would be appropriate to name one of them Noon..."

Interesting hair color... Midnight thought, looking over the nurse. Turning her attention to her surroundings, Midnight found it odd that this room was dominated by chairs and small tables. Must be some kind of meeting room.

Realizing the woman behind the desk had asked them a question Midnight fumbled for a answer as she tried to fill the awkward silence. "Oh umm, we're here to try out your... umm ultrasound gizmo?"

Nabelin was roused from her sleep by the nurse gently shaking her by the shoulder. She slowly opened her eyes since the medicine was also a sleeping aid. "Yes? What do you want doctor?" Her hair was going in a million different ways. She moved some hair from her still cloudy eyes and looked at Dr. Kain. "The medicine is working. I'm sleeping like a babe, yes?"

Eralin lifted his knife to his face. He concentrated on the toad's eye, breathed in deep....and threw! The knife sliced the air, missed Peridot by 1 cm, and buried itself in the toad's eye. The toad shrieked, letting go of Peridot. The toad shuddered, and then deflated where it sat. It eventually poofed into a black cloud. Eralin ran to Peridot, even though she was not that far away. "Are you all right?" He scooped her up in his arms, but not before he gently planted a kiss on her forehead, so feather light that he almost thought he didn't even kiss her. He blushed as he took her to retrieve his knife. He started to chuckle. "Funny thing is, my room is next to yours." As best as he could, he pointed out his window. He carried her in to the Inn, and put her on his bed after he supplied her with a spare set of pajamas. "I know they'll be big, but it's the least I can do." He said with a smile as he went out the door with his own pajamas and a pillow. He was going to let her have his bed, and he would take a couch somewhere else. He didn't mind, not at all.

"Ah, well we know that at least one of you is. Noon sounds really cute" Bess replied, smiling at the adorable name. She looked over at the sound of someone greeting them and waved at the woman behind the reception desk. She appeared to be human, apart from her strange hair and eye colour; effects of her stay in the scientists' camp no doubt. "Hi Quoia, busy today?"

Bess watched Midnight interact in the surroundings and gathered that she was a little confused. She hoped she didn't feel too out of her depth. This place was clearly much different to what she was used to.

"That is, if the doctor has any appointments free, we'd like to take one" she added to Midnight's statement, leaning slightly over the counter, on tip toe. "Sorry we couldn't request one earlier. We're from out of town, as you know" Bess added cheerily, familiar with the lady from previous visits to the twelfth tribe's territory.

"Alright, let me just check that for you". Quoia smiled back at the both of them and nodded, turning to her computer to check the doctor's appointment schedule. She paused after a quick scan and turned back to them. "Doctor Amaranth is with someone right now at the hospital wing but he should be able to see you when he gets back. If you'd like to take a seat, I'll let you know when he's ready. It shouldn't be too long"

"Okay, thanks. Come on Midnight, not much to do now but wait" She went an plonked herself in a seat beside a strange device full of water with little cups stacked on top.

Purri Medical Centre - Nabelin's Room

Kain waited for Nabelin to wake up somewhat before he spoke to her, letting the nurse get back to work. He walked over to stand beside the bed so he could talk to her more easily.

"I'm very glad to hear that." Kain smiled, "Sorry to disturb you when you're finally getting enough rest. I lost something very important. I was wondering if you might be able to help me"

He scratched the side of his cheek with a sheepish chuckle, feeling rather foolish that he had to interrupt one of his patients like this. Not knowing what else to say, he continued awkwardly.

"It's just that...well, I have looked everywhere and the last place I remember having it with me is in this room. It's a small diary with a leather cover, about this shape and size," he mimicked the description with guestures, holding his hands apart to give an idea of a squarish book slightly larger than a wallet. "Might you have seen it?" Kain asked with geniune concern displayed across his features. She was his last resort to finding the organiser.

If she hadn't seen it, he'd have a needle-in-haystack search on his hands. Being someone who liked everything in it's place, Kain really hated those stressful events.

((OOC: Hey, you weren't meant to carry her off! Hehe. That's alright. I find it funny))

Peridot wanted to scream. She could feel the warty tongue crushing her as it wound tighter. She struggled to draw breath, feeling as though she were in some kind of slimy vise. She had no illusions about the intentions of the toad monster - it was probable that it was trying to eat her, but had to crunch her up first so she could fit in its mouth. She knew because stories of these toads (and other monsters), were often bantered around in the tavern she waitressed.

Something flew out of Eralin's hand. The girl flinched as a silver sparkle whisked past her cheek, then realised seconds later that it had been a knife. The throw had been so quick that had she blinked, she would have missed it.

A gurgling shriek rent the air and Peridot felt herself falling to the ground, coughing amidst a black fume that furled up from the melting toad. She gasped lungfuls of misted air, trying to filter out the poison by covering her mouth and nose with her hand. Wait, there's a handkerchief in my purse!... her fingers fumbled to get it open, pulling at the clip.

She was so busy trying to get her hanky that she didn't realise she was being spoken to until she was picked up off the ground. Peridot would normally have shrieked with embarrassment and demanded he put her down, were she not choking on black mist.

She was so startled, she didn't know what to say. Clutching her purse to her chest, she tried to hide her coughing fit behind one hand. Peri stared back at her rescuer for a moment, eventually lowering her hand enough to speak once she could breathe without coughing. "Y-yes" She noticed that her voice sounded a little strained and she was trembling worse than before, "A-apart from inhaling some of the fumes, I'm okay" She felt weak, wobbly and a bit bruised but as far as she could tell, she was in one piece and alive.

"I-it is?" she was surprised indeed about the rooms. Peridot wondered how long he had been staying at the inn, looking up at the window next to hers. "What a surprise!"

Okay, maybe she was a little in shock. That hadn't quite been what she wanted to say. She still hadn't thanked him for saving her from that toad. And what was she doing, letting him carry her? She was supposed to be trying to get away. Ugh...too sleepy and dizzy... Peridot blamed that on the fumes.

In a surreal turn of events, she somehow found that she was placed on a nice bed and given some clean night clothes to wear. She looked around in confusion. Was this Eralin's room?

Peridot reached out and took the clothes he handed her, but her thoughts the whole time were that she had to find a way to thank him and just be back to her own room. She was sure she was causing him trouble, imposing so much. "Thank you very much!" She called out to him as he went out the door, putting as much feeling into the words as she could manage. She pulled on the pyjamas over her waitress outfit (well, she was a bit dazed from the poison) and promptly fell asleep on top of the covers.

Nabelin's Room

Nabelin nodded. She did indeed saw it after he left. She reached under her pillow and brought it out. "It was next to my bed, and so, I picked it up. It was in horrible state of disarray, and so, I organized it myself. See?" She opened it up so he could see where everything was, in a neat and perfect order. She smiled, please with herself, and then she shoved it into his hands, horrified with herself. She started to cry again and started to apologize again. "I'm sorry! I noticed that it was messy, so I organized it! I didn't mean to be rude." Nabelin tried to make the tears go away, but for some reason, this human doctor just made her cry spontaneously. She grabbed her pillow and mushed it into her face to stop the flow of tears and to prevent the doctor from seeing her dusk rose face, but the pillow slipped down, and her crying gradually stopped. "I'm sorry. I must seem like a tiny child because I have been crying so much."

Eralin put on his pajamas and quietly slipped back into his room. He tucked Peridot in his bed, placing her so that the covers were tucked up to her chin and that her head was resting on the pillow. "There. Sweet dreams." He went out of the room to sleep, his stuff in the hallway.

(Lol as I read your post I just totally imagined Midnight acting like Tarzan when Jane and her uncle are showing him all the cool goodies they brought with them from England like the slide projector and stuff. Assuming your memories might need a refresher of the scene I'm talking about heres a link to that clip of the movie; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zc3MnoSS5Hw )

Being way out of her element at this point, Midnight quietly followed Bess' lead and found herself a seat to sit down in. However she soon found the material of the seat irritating to her bare skin. Curious by nature, Midnight rose from her seat and waddled over to the device beside Bess' seat.

The device clearly contained water but it wasn't a waterskin, in fact it seemed to be some sort of icy shell. Unable to find the containers opening, she examined the rest of the device finding a red lever, a blue lever, and a nozzle down one of its sides. Casually flicking the blue one, Midnight skittered backwards as the nozzle belched a stream of water at her.
