Kate wondered around before she finally spotted a sign of life. Kate could see Marcus through the trees from behind him. Kate kept her face hidden and watched him. For some odd reason Kate was drawn to him. She wanted to win him over, but the only way she knew how to interact with people was to either turn them away or stay in the back ground. In frustrated Kate and she let out a low, but somewhat loud growl of anger. She realized that she had made a louder noise then she should have and pulled her hood over her face even more so.

Marcus sat, slowly turning the hide into boots. Suddenly, he heard a loud growl from behind. He grabbed his bow as he rolled away from the tree. He came up standing, an arrow knocked and at full draw. When he saw no immediate source of danger, he slowly scanned the area. His eyes, sharp from hunting, caught a flicker of movement, and he released reflexively. The arrow went wide, striking a tree rather than his target.

Kate's eyes were wide with fear when the arrow was shot. It had cut the edge of her cheek and it Marcus were to pull the arrow out of the tree he would most likely fine blood on it. Kate quickly thought. She knew nothing about survival, but some gut instinct told her that moving around a lot was a bad idea so she crouched down and tried to stay out of sight and still. She was scared and began to criticize herself for being an idiot.

Marcus frowned, setting the bow aside. He pulled his hunting knife from his belt, and moved slowly toward the tree where the arrow had landed. He removed the arrow from the tree, growling low when the head came off the shaft. He would have to dig it out later. With onhand raising the knife into a ready position, he used the other to search through the brush. He hand cought some cloth, and he pulled it closer, noticing how fine it was. Marcus sighed, realizing that someone had tried to sneak up on him. "All right, get up. I won't hurt you, as long as you tell my why you're here."

Kate stood up slowly and kept her face covered by the hood. She took a careful step back and kept her head down without saying anything. She didn't want Marcus to find out that it was her. She didn't even know why. "I uh.... I was just wandering around." Kate said in a voice that sounded younger than her real voice and like a little kid that was lost. She hoped that Marcus would just tell her to go away.

Marcus sighed, putting away his knife. "Come on. It's dangerous out there. Poison ivy on the fringes and big animals deeper in. I'll walk you back to the village. I'm sure your parents are already looking for you." He roughly grabbed the girls hand, hauling her out of the brush.

Kate nearly tripped when Marcus yanked her out of the bushes and stumbled a little. She looked down at the mention of her parents and said, "My parents aren't looking for me." She had forgotten that she was pretending to be a lost little kid and used her normal voice. She still had her face nearly covered, but she looked up at Marcus.

Marcus' attention was further piqued when he recognized a voice. It took him a moment, but he soon knew who he spoke to. And had almost shot. "What are you doing out here? Shouldn't you have some guards or something?" Marcus quickly released the girl's arm, startled. "Why did you sneak up on me like that?"

Kate frowned before flicking the hood off her head so she could look Marcus in the eyes. "Well it's lucky for you I don't have any guards with me or something cause otherwise you'd be dead." Kate snapped in a rude tone as she pulled her arm back to her. This was one thing she hated about being a noble. People always treated her differently. She just wanted to be treated like someone her age.

((Sorry, didn't get online over break.))
"It's lucky for you I missed! Then we'd both be dead, unless nobody found the body. Then I might survive it. Your in a bit of a mood this morning. Why is it that every time I start acting proper around you, you get pissed?" Marcus sighed, moving back towards his tree. He wasn't really aggrivated, just annoyed. "How am I going to get you home? I don't really want any notice from your family. And I can't leave the sheep long."

"One, I get pissed cause I don't get why people always start acting different when ever they realize who I'm am. That's what pisses me off. And two, you don't need to get me home. I know how to get back on my own. Now one'll realize I'm gonna for another hour or so. I left before anyone would expect me to be up. And I just wanted to wander around. You don't have to leave your sheep at all." Kate snapped with a sour expression.
(Sorry for the late reply I didn't see that you had posted.)

"People start treating you differently because they don't want your family to cause problems for them. Maybe you should stop letting that get under your skin and start making some friends! And if you don't want to go home, then you can stay here for as long as you need. I'm sure my father wouldn't mind. As for me, I need to get back to my sheep." Marcus sat down hard in front of his tree hard, more than a little miffed. He went back to working the leather from earlier. For all intents and purpose, he appeared to ignore the girl.

Kate rolled her eyes and then turned away. She didn't want to stand there and get lectured by him. Kate walked away and muttered, "How can I make friends when no one acts normally around me. And it's not like I make my family cause problems for people." Kate was going to walk into the forest and stay there for a while until she felt like going back to her home and being bored all day. Kate sighed softly and glanced back at Marcus before turning around to walk away.

Marcus looked into the sky, suprised to see how much time had passed. He set aside his newly finished boots. Hearing noise in the edge of the forest, he turned to it. "It's getting dark. You could stay if you like. Our dinners are simple but filling, and you can take my bed for the night. I'm sure my father would not mind." Marcus grabbed his boots and bow, heading for his home. He did not look back to see if she followed.
