xxxGavin nodded at what she said, before he gave a simple shrug of his shoulders. "Yes, but if you think about it, if you didn't impress them and they decided that you weren't the girl that they wanted me to marry, then I'd be a single for man for quite some time," he said with a grin as he leaned back on the rock and relaxed a bit. He looked at her with a slightly perplexed expression when she talked about what she wanted and didn't want to talk about in her own way. "Women," he teased, rolling his eyes at her and shaking his head not completely understanding her, but knowing that he probably wouldn't. "Well, you have points for not trying to calm me. I'd be much worse then a horse, Princess," he said with a wink her way.

Upon hearing Lila's question, he sat up, leaning forward and resting his elbows on his knees as he looked at her with a grin on his face. "I'm not entirely sure about that one yet," he said after a moment, his smile growing a little more. "But I do know that you have a certain spark that I like and that I find intriuging. It'll be interesting to see what I think of you in the next couple of days, though. Will you be an annoyance, or more fun then I expected? It's up to you," he said, as he pushed up from his seat and walked to the edge of the stream before crossing it by jumpin on a few rocks. He looked over his shoulder at her and gave a small smile in her direction. "Up for some fun, Princess?" he asked her.

Lila sighed. "Well, after that last comment, there's no way I'm going to say no. I mean, you can't just throw that at me, then expect me not to go. I'm not going to be an annoyance, thanks," she said, the last part fairly bitter. She wasn't annoying. At least, she didn't find herself annoying. Then again, who finds themselves annoying?

She pushed the thought aside, realizing she was more than likely looking blankly into the distance, and took a small step towards him. "What kind of fun are we talking about, Prince?" she asked. Her voice sounded confident, but she was slightly nervous. She didn't know him. Maybe his parents wanted to marry him off quickly before his fiance realized he's a whack job. Maybe he was gonna take her somewhere and kill her.

No. She was a fairly good judge of character, and he didn't seem like a murderer. Probably just an adventurous man, maybe a he had some skeletons in his closet, but who didn't? She sure did.

Besides, if he was an axe murderer or something, if they weren't back by lunch their parents would look for them, and would find her hacked to pieces. This thought reassured her enough to go with him.

You're freaking yourself out for nothing, she thought to herself, You're just trying to find a reason not to trust him.

"Let's go. Let's do something fun, I want some fun," she said in a hurry, another dazzling smile on her face. She looked at him, her green eyes sparked with excitement.

xxxGavin chuckled at the first part that she said. "That was all part of the plan, Princess," he said to her, using the name more out of a fondness that actual formality as he watched her take a small step closer. "It's a surprise. . . I can't ruin a good surprise can I? I do promise you that'll it be fun and, if I do say so myself, kind of a thrill," he said to her with another laugh.

Glancing back at her once more, his face took on a serious and sincere expression. "Don't worry, it won't be anything too terrible. Just some fun is all, promise. Your safety is in good hands," he told her giving her a small, yet encouraging, smile before he held out his hand to her. "It's not that far. . . just about a half a miles walk I should think. We'll be back before you know it," he said to her before he chuckled a bit. "I do warn you though that you're going to have to be brave for this one. . . up for the challenge, princess?" he asked her, arching one brow at her. He knew that she said she'd wanted some fun, but he just wanted to make sure. Plus, he like playing around with people to an extent, she was particulary amusing to him and he was glad to have someone to accompany him with these things. Not many he knew would, well, not that were girls he mentally revised.

Lila took his outstretched hand in hers, holding it tightly. It was an unfamiliar feeling to her. She hadn't held a man's hand since she was very little, holding her father's hand. She didn't even hold hands with the guards who she met behind the fountain late at night. "It's always arms, you know. Never hands. I suppose arms look more formal," she said, sounding slightly distant, then sighed. "If you get me killed, Prince, I will come back and haunt you. I don't even believe in ghosts, and I'll haunt you."

She said this seriously, but a smile broke out on her face, and a giggle bubbled up from her stomach. She closed the rest of the distance between them, their arms now touching, and she let her gaze drift up to him.

"Oh, can't you tell me what we're doing? I'll still act all surprised when we get there, if you want!" It was obvious by the way she spoke that she was excited. And who could blame her? She thought he was going to be totally stuck up and arrogant, but he seemed pretty nice. And he wasn't bad looking, either. It was lucky, really, that she was to marry him. Because if it weren't him, it would probably be to some prince who was ten years older than her, fat, ugly, and rude. Prince Gavin didn't seem to come under these categories, other than arrogant and maybe slightly rude.

The ends of her mouth creeped downwards in a small frown. No, rude wasn't the word for it. Care free, yes. Unpolished, yes. But rude? No, rude didn't seem to be the right word for him.

xxxGavin, while not totally unaccustomed to the feeling of ones hand in his, did find it something that he rarely did. Though he had figured that since he'd eventually be marrying her, the simple act of holding her hand wouldn't be so bad if they weren't within view of someone who cared. "Arms do look more formal and it's what's accepted in public I suppose," he said, shrugging his shoulders as he laced his fingers with her delicate ones. "But holding ones hand is a much better feeling then a simple linking of arms, don't you agree?" he asked as he smiled down at her before laughing on what she said. "You won't die I promise. You might think you will, but you won't. I've done it plenty of times before, no worries," he said to her, giving her another all-knowing smile. Enjoying the fact that she had no clue what she was going to do.

Gavin chuckled at her begging in asking what they were going to do. "Nope, can't tell you. A surprise is a surprise. You can't fake surprisement as well as truly being surprised," he said, hoping that wasn't too confusing. "Besides, I'm enjoying the fact that I know something that you have absolutely no clue about. This is my part of the country after all, I know this place like the back of my hand. When we visit your kingdom, then maybe I'll let you surprise me," he said with a chuckle, wondering if she'd truly be able to surprise him with something that he'd never done before. He supposed that if she tried then she would be able to, and he didn't put it past her to think of something clever.

"We'll be there in about ten minutes I'd say. Surely you can wait ten minutes, can you not Princess? What would your parents say to this impatience you're expressing," he teased her, shaking his head in exasperation though the smile that lingered on his lips showed that he was enjoying this. "Of course, then I can look at what my parents would think of leading a lady to the place where we're going. . they wouldn't be too pleased. Our secret, yes?" he said to her with small laugh as the ground that they were walking started started getting steeper.

Lila nodded. "Hand holding is more intimate, yes. But I don't see why linking arms is socially accepted, it seems to me that holding hands would be. When I see people holding hands, it makes me think they care about each other and don't care what people think. When I see arms linked, I think they care more about the public then the other one." Then she shrugged. "Whatever."

As the ground started getting steeper, Lila gave a sigh. "I promise to keep it our secret." She was silent for a bit then said "You know, I don't mind walking. In fact I love nature, but this walk is awful. I keep thinking that I probably shouldn't trust you. I mean, I really don't know you. But the way you talk, I'm not scared to go somewhere with you. Though I do have a feeling that I might not like where we're going..."

xxxGavin shrugged. "I don't know, I don't make the rules. I just follow them. . . some of them anyway," he said with a small smile as he kept walking before listening to what else that she had to say.

"I've already told you not to worry, Princess. I'm not taking you to your death and I'm completely trustworthy, if not a little reckless at times. And we'll see if you like where we're going or not," he said to her with a small laugh as turned around a few trees before walking normal once more. About eight minutes later, they broke from the last of the trees to see a small waterfall. While it was a beautiful sight and all, he had come here to have some fun which is why he pointed to the bottom where a large, deep pool of water was at at the bottom of the water fall. At the ledge they were on, it was about fourty feet above it and he smiled back at her. "So, it might not look it, but I assure you that it's completely safe. The water is really quite a bit deeper than one would expect for something like this," he said with a small shrug. "I do admit that the first time I jumped, I wasn't sure if I'd hit the bottom or not and die. I didn't though, and there aren't any rocks that you hit either so long as you jump away from the edge you'll be fine," he said giving her hand a light squeeze before letting her hand go. "Hope you like swimming, Princess. If you don't then, I'll be at the bottom waiting to save you," he said giving her a wink as he shed his shirt and shoes before taking a running jump of the edge, giving a fun sort of shout as he fell through the air and hit the water below. A few moments later he resurfaced and glanced up at her at the top. "See? Still alive, no big deal," he told her before he waited, wondering if she'd jump down or not.

Lila let out a small yelp when he jumped off the ledge. When he shouted up to her, she yelled back "My dress!" Then she retreated far enough into the trees that he couldn't see her.

About four minutes later, she ran back to the ledge and jumped off, a small scream escaping her mouth as she fell in only her undergarments. She hit the water with a splash. Her ears quickly filled with water, and she opened her eyes, looking around. He was right. There was nothing there that was incredibly dangerous. Almost no jagged rocks, and those were close to the edges.

She propelled herself upwards, surfacing. It was obvious she wasn't an amazing swimmer, but she wasn't helpless. She was alright swimmer, she wasn't bad, but she was no expert.

"I was really debating not jumping in," she told him, swimming closer to him. She had landed about ten feet away from him. "That was so fun."

xxxGavin heard her say something about her dress and when she walked away from the ledge, he thought that at first maybe she was going to jump, but when she didn't reappear within the next few seconds he seriously thought the she'd chickened out. Sighing slightly, he started to begin to swim to the edge of the pool of water, until he saw her come falling down the ledge.

A grin lit his face when he saw her resurface and swim towards him. He saw that she wasn't the strongest swimmer ever, but she didn't do too badly. "Well, I'm glad that you did and of course it was fun. I told you it would be, I'm hurt that you didn't believe me," he said, putting on a mock hurt expression before he just laughed and motioned for her to swim towards the water fall. "C'mon, there's a place you can sit behind the falls so you don't have to continue swimming the whole time. You look like you might get tired eventually and I wouldn't want to tell anyone you almost drowned. . . no offense," he said to her, truly concerned about her well being rather then making fun of her.

As he swimmed over to the waterfall, he made sure to look back at Lila every now and then to make sure that she was alright. Right before he went underneath of it, he waited on her so that he could reach for her arm and help her swim under. The current was rough here and constantly kept trying to pull even him underneath so he figured that she might have a harder time. Once you were under the water, it could be at times a little confusing to find which way the surface was, but he was used to it and it didn't cause him that much of a problem anymore.

Lila just gave him a nod when he commented on her swimming. She knew she wasn't the best swimmer, and she wasn't going to pretend to be for her pride's sake. She hadn't really spent much of her life swimming, mostly she road her horse, walked, and gardened.

It didn't really appease her. What's the real fun in swimming, if you're not with someone? It would have been great fun, if she had someone her age around, that wasn't scared of what her father would think, she would probably actually be able to swim. She might have had an actual reason to swim.

But, of course, she didn't have that. It wasn't a huge deal for her, she was used to just having the guards around. She was just pretty inept with communicating with girls. They were so weird, sometimes, other girls. She was pretty girlie herself, but they were so judgmental. She wasn't judgmental. She just had opinions about things, but she, unlike other girls, actually told people what she thought. That's what separated her from the rest of her gender.

She was, though, touched when he grabbed for her arm. She let him lead her under, the waterfall's currents throwing her off. She grabbed his upper arm before they surfaced, and when they finally did, with her struggling slightly, she let go.

xxxGavin navigated the waters underneath of the water fall without too much of a problem, though it was a little more difficult when he had to lead someone else with him. However, he had made sure to keep a good hold on her and he was glad that she'd made his job a little easier and held on as well.

"I like it hear, nice and peaceful if not a little noisy," he said with a shrug as he pulled himself up on the ledge of rock that jutted out, making sort of a crevice in the rock wall that could sit about five people comfortably. The waterfall in front of them was, as he'd stated earlier, wuite noisy, but it was pleasant. All you had to do was speak a little louder for others to hear you, but it wasn't all that bad. The sun that shone through the water cast everything in the cave in a sort of blue-ish light that constanly moved and flickered across the walls, looking as if you viewing a huge aquarium almost.

"I am wondering though, what do you think of getting married? Intrugued by it? Loath it? Unhappy, saddened by it? Tell me, I'm curious," he said with a smile as he lounged back on the rocks, propping himself up with his elbows as his blue eyes looked in her direction.

Lila hoisted herself up on to the ledge, then crossed her legs, one under the other, in an unlady like way. She didn't really care all that much. She sat back, and appreciated the view for a bit, while pondering his question. Before she spoke, she noted that she liked the noise of the waterfall, though it was a little loud. She liked having white noise, it kept pauses in conversations from getting uncomfortable.

"I'm not sure," she finally admitted, "I guess I'm more weary than anything. I'm not entirely positive of what to think of it. I see my parents, and I can see that they care for each other, and their marriage was arranged. But then, while visiting other kingdoms, I see other arranged marriages that just don't work. I could see their... dislike when they looked at each other. I'm not saying I want to fall in love with you, Gavin," she said, dropping the Prince. It seemed like the setting was too relaxed to be so proper. "I just don't want to dislike you."

She looked at the waterfall for a few seconds, appreciating that he had brought her here. It was gorgeous, and she was already falling in love with the view.

"What about you? How do you feel about this?" she asked, awkwardly gesturing to the both of them.

xxxGavin didn't mind that she had dropped the prince, in fact, he probably preferred it over the Prince Gavin title that so many other people used. Even people who were his age and very close friends to him still called him by Prince. He only knew of two people that wouldn't call him Prince and they were probably his two best friends as well. "Well, if it's any consolation, I wouldn't want to be married to someone whom I dislike either," he said to her with a small nod of his head. "But, it doesn't look like I'm going to hate you. . . at least not at this point," he said teasingly, a smile spreading across his lips.

For some reason, Gavin was a little caught off guard by her question and the surprise showed on his face a little before it faded slowly. "I don't really want to be married yet. Honestly, I've never had the desire to get married, never even really thought about it," he said with a shrug of his shoulders as he looked at the waterfall instead of her. "I guess it might be I think that way just because I've never met a girl that I really, truly cared for enough to think about marrying her," he said after a moment before glancing back at Lila. "But now that I'm facing the choice that I'm going to have to get married . . . I still don't like it," he said to her, figuring honesty would be better then anything at the moment even if it might be a little blunt. "You don't seem to be a bad person to marry of course," he said quickly, wanting to assure her of that. "Like I said I don't dislike you, and maybe even over time I can learn to love you. I'd like to be able to marry someone who I love more than anything, it'd be nice. I'll just have to wait and see," he said with another shrug before he looked over at her and his eyes started to sparkle with amusement. Think you can impress me enough to where I fall in love with you? I do admit you've already got the looks," he said with a grin, reaching out to touch a lock of her hair, seeing if she'd blush at all with that compliment.

Lila gave him a smile, her cheeks letting off a warm glow. "Well," she said slowly, picking her words carefully, "If it's love that you want, I shouldn't have to impress you. If your love went off me impressing you, we'd go to hell once I decide I'm sick of finding ways to impress you." She then simply shrugged, pulling her knees to her chest. "Nice to know that you care about looks more than personality, though," she said playfully, nudging his side with her elbow.

"I have another question for you," she said. She had just suddenly realized how curious she was about this man. Who could blame her? They were to be married, after all. "Do you consider yourself a people's person, or more of a private person?"

She, personally, considered herself both. She liked her space and privacy, but she also loved having people around to talk to. She got along with people just fine, but that didn't really make her a people's person. It just made her kind.

xxxGavin shrugged at her words before he smiled slightly. "You're right on that one suppose. I may have even been looking for an answer that was similar to yours, I don't know," he said to her as he thought on that more himself before shaking his head slightly. His thoughts could sometimes run wild, causing him to get off of his main focus which was, at the moment, to get to know the Princess more. She was curious one he had to admit, but that was the only word that he could think of to place to her for the time being.

Lila's question kind of caught him off guard a little biit simply because it was small leap from what they had been preiviously speaking about. After giving a moments thought to it, he gave another shrug. "I guess it depends," he said slowly. "Sometimes I'll be more of a private person especially if something has me ticked off," he said with a small chuckle. While he was very tempermental, the few times that he was, he was a pretty unpleasant person to be around. "Most of the time I guess I'm a people's person, much to my parents dismay," he said with a laugh. "They sometimes wish I were more private and kept certain details to myself, but what can I say? I like be the center of attention and the best person in the party," he said, flashing her a tiny smile.

"We should probably get back soon," he said to her with a small sigh, though he made no attempt to move from his spot quite yet. "The look of my parents face when they see that you're wet is going to be priceless, I bet they're going to think I pushed you into the garden's fountain or something since that was where they'd expected us to go," he said amused.
