[1v1] The Rematch (Levi/West) [FIN]

The sudden burst of his wings coupled with the surprise of her feet lifting off the ground near caused her to topple off. Instead, Levi's tail anchored onto the ground, allowing her feet to come up and onto the wrath demon's back. Pushing into his back with both heels, she launched herself back up into the air.

Good idea.

West pitched forward, spinning sharply and quickly standing upright again to hide his stumble. He stepped back and threw a punch into the air, but it missed Levi completely.

West was facing upward as she came down again. The tatzel always came down tail and feet first which meant the collision with West would involve legs wrapping over his shoulders and her back aligning with his front with her fingers fanning out on the ground. The the burst of force coming from her tail, her calves gripped West around his neck and throttled him forward head first in a scissor toss.

Miss successfully obscured, West was feeling pretty good again as far as this fight was concerned, at least until Levi's legs wrapped around him and his brain stopped functioning. Actually, some part of it was working just fine, because his fists took this moment to rain down jabbity-jabbing vengeance onto any part of tatzel he could reach. The hits weren't hard, but there were plenty of them, and as he punched, his hands lit the area around them with a dim red glow.

His mind started churning again not long after she threw him past her onto the ground, but at that point, he was sitting in the dirt, slightly dazed and shaken. Had he used his FEAR? It felt like he'd used his FEAR. West made a confused sound in the back of his throat, then got up, brushing off the back of his pants.

He glared at Levi. You didn't see that. Nobody saw that. Whatever it was.

"You..." He couldn't very well call her a cheater at this point, now could he? Nope. She'd done the exact opposite of cheating, if he had to put a name to it. West settled for muttering something incoherent and clenching his fists instead.

Being shot at like that, Levi was looking to retaliate with a few flashy slashes of her own. That was until she watched his reaction. Crouching and tilting her head to one side with a smile tauntingly, she rested her elbows on her knees and had a chuckle.

Yer not finished with'me yet, eh?

She said this like she would be upset if he was.

He shook his head, lips curving upward in a grin as he did so. West sprang forward, sweeping his fist low as he tried to skitter past the ghoul without getting hit in return. He sucked in a deep breath of cooling night air and stopped short, keeping close to her in an attempt to counter her strikes with more accuracy.

It was like looking at him in slow motion under the light of the moon. His hair fluttered and she distinctly began to feel the pain of his hit against her cheekbone, head swinging off to the side.

Off one side of her lip a stream of a single drop of blood ran down to her chin. Closing her eyes shut with a rumbling growl, Levi thought she felt her venom boiling and ready to come out, but upon opening her mouth, she spat nothing but blood out. Wiping her chin, she stood and turned in West's direction. She wasn't focusing properly. She could've avoided such a hit, couldn't she? Her tail curled upward defensively and she just stared- he looked different to her tonight. This wasn't like her previous battles with West.

West took another deep breath and advanced toward the ghoul, his hands clasped in front of him and glowing brighter by the second. He couldn't have been more than two feet away when he finally noticed the blood, a dark smudge on her pale skin. His hands dropped back to his sides, their glow winking out as he narrowed his eyes. If he had been paying attention he might have been proud that he had managed to stop that particular use of his FEAR in its tracks, but he was more concerned with why she was staring at him like that.

"What?" He frowned. "C'mon!"

Could he see what she was thinking by her expression? He looked agitated with her. Then again, West always did look rather angry- that was just him. But his tone was rather unnerving; it was like he was threatening to figure her out. There was nothing to figure out here.

Her nose wrinkled and the ghoul showed teeth while giving a hiss. Nothin' but yer FACE! A clawed hand reached out and clawed into West's face.

He should have seen it coming. He had asked for it after all. West failed to duck out of the way of her swipe, catching her claws with his cheek. He growled and smacked her back, but it was barely a tap to the forearm.

"'t's'not my face, it's yer face that's th'problem!" The words came out in a snarl, but by the time they were done, he was grinning again.

I'll GIVE ya'a problem in yer face!!! Oh? Now he was insulting her? Jackdammit, West! Her blood was starting to boil at the way he looked at her.

He was just- looking at her. Grinning. How could she be happy to lose to him? It had to be trick! Taking evasive action, Levi leaped back and away from West, folding her arms at her waist. She leered at West, disgruntled and displeased that his very existence right now had negative effects on her fighting. However, she smirked suddenly, considering that she'd taught him a few things that might have been aiding him right now.

He couldn't stop himself. A laugh bubbled up out of his throat, a sharp, brief, rarely heard sound of contentment that shocked even the boil who made it. What in the hell was going on?

West took one final swipe at her as she bounced away and his face fell back into its angry lines. He raised his fingertips to his cheek and pressed them against the shallow scratches there, peering at the thin lines of blood on his hand when he pulled it away.

Havin' fun, boil? West had laughed. He laughed. It was a sound she thought she'd heard before but whether it was in her head or in reality was the question.

More than any other feelings right now, she felt frustrated and angry. He wasn't attacking her as forcefully as before. She'd show him what was expected of him after his training. Levi sped up at her fastest pace to stand within a hair's distance of West's shoulder in a blink, whipping her tail around his waist and whirling around to face his back. An elbow around his neck, she pushed into his spine with one of her feet in a swift kick.

Yes, he was having fun, but there was more to it than the simple pleasure he usually gleaned from fighting. At least he was past being tempted to laugh like that... or he hoped he was. For the second time since this fight had begun, he was forced to swipe at her as she passed him. This time, he aimed a hit at her tail, but his temporary belt was gone before he could land anything significant. The foot she jammed in his spine gave him pause, but he was far from out of the fight yet.

"If I am?"

The hitting at her tail caused her arm to unravel and her foot to return back to the ground. Huffing, Levi simply held onto West with her tail from behind, once again just- staring. Her heart beat felt particularly fast and she hadn't worked up enough adrenaline for that to be the cause.

Is this that dream again? Am I sick?

She was feeling weaker than she had when she arrived but that was due to the jabs West had been able to take at her. She wasn't going to go down for him.
