Heimbrecht listened to Frau Eichmann intently, "Ich denke, wir sollten abwarten, was die Italiener sagen. Wenn sie bei uns sind, schlage ich vor, wir alle unsere Ressourcen in einem Präventionsschlag gegen die irische, bevor sie einrichten können Abwehrkräfte." (I think we should wait to see what the Italians say. If they are with us I suggest we put all our resources into launching a preemptive strike against the Irish before they can set up defenses.) He looked at König to agree or disagree with what he had just said. Heimbrecht like Eichmann was a soldier, tactics and planning were things that the two of them had been thinking about for a long time, however König was brains of the civilian world. He was interested in both opinions, as the tactics of the battlefield didn't always work on the streets of the civilian city.

Heimbrecht nodded listening to König. He had a point, the Italians were apt to just backstab the Germans before they were able to do anything, just as the Germans probably planned to do to them after the Irish and the Chinese were dealt with, "Das ist wahr. Etwas habe ich damit begonnen, in diesem Geschäft zu realisieren. Traue niemandem." (That's true. Something I've begun to realize in this business. Never trust anyone.) He took the final swig of his beer, "Also Mutter, was denkst du? Sind die Italiener zu trauen?" (So Mother, what do you think? Are the Italians to be trusted?)

Heimbrecht nodded, "Keine Ehre unter Dieben." (No honor among thieves) He joked as he leaned back in his bar-stool. Frau Eichmann had a point. They couldn't know anything until her husband returned, and even then they had to be careful. However the threat of the Irish still worried him. He had been on the fields of the Great War and had seen how valiantly and how ferociously they fought. A fight in the city would be even worse than the fields. Heimbrecht looked at both König and Frau Eichmann, "Würde einer von Ihnen zu widersprechen, mich unter fünfzehn Männern und Scouting die Bahnhöfe?" (Would either of you object to me taking fifteen men and scouting the rail yards?)

Heimbrecht had always admired Frau Eichmann's beauty and her strength of character, but because he respected her husband and the bond that they had, he had never said a word about it. However it was part of the reason he held such loyalty to her. Heimbrecht would have been the first to get in line if Frau Eichmann ever took over the mob for her husband. He would defend her leadership, even against people like König. Heimbrecht knew that König had his eyes on Eichmann's position, he knew that secretly König wanted to be in charge of the German mob, but Heimbrecht's first duty and feeling of responsibility was to the Eichmann family. He smiled as Frau Eichmann suggested another beer, "Noch ein Bier wäre schön!" (Another beer would be lovely) He replied to her with a warm smile on his lips.

Heimbrecht smiled at her, watching her move. Such grace, such elegance, and sheer beauty. Eichmann had really done himself proud when he married her. However Heimbrecht knew that he had to keep his feelings to himself. He looked back down at the empty glass as it was cleared and a new one was placed infront of him. König didn't seem the least bit interested in what was happening. He watched the other members of the mob, and patrons of the bar mill around and do their thing, "Dank Mutter." (Thank you mother) he replied as he turned his stool slightly so he would be looking in her direction when she returned to her seat. All they could do was sit, talk and wait. The anticipation of the Italian answer plagued Heimbrecth's mind, as did his admiration of Frau Eichmann.

König had completely lost his interest in the conversation. Heimbrecht could tell by the way he'd turned his chair and began discussing finances with one of the men to the other side of him. Heimbrecht paid little attention to him as he held his stein, "Heidi." he smiled, "Schöner Name." (Lovely name). He thought for a moment, "Ja, Wir haben wirklich kennen sich schon eine lange Zeit haben wir nicht? Ich traf dich, was in 1913? Kurz vor dem Krieg?" (We really have known each other a long time haven't we? I met you, in what 1913? Right before the war?) Heimbrecht thought back to those days, Heidi hadn't lost any of the beauty she had back then. He remembered that while Eichmann was in staff meetings, Heimbrecht and Heidi would sit around and talk. That's how they really got to know each other, how they bonded their friendship, and how Heimbrecht had started to fall for her. However he was loyal enough to Eichmann, and professional enough that he blocked it out. Shoved it down, but the longer they spent in eachother's company the harder suppressing those feelings became.

Heimbrecht smiled warmly at her as he set his beer down, "Bedenken Sie, dass Tag gingen wir wandern auf den Feldern hinter dem Haus, während Reinhardt war in Berlin?" (Remember that day we went wandering out in the fields behind your house while Reinhardt was in Berlin?) It was one of his fondest memories of their time together. He remembered them laughing and running through the flowers as the wind gently rushed by them. It made him smile, and had kept him company through the long nights in the muddy trenches. However in his mind the story had gone differently. Eichmann wasn't in the picture. Heidi was his girlfriend, and the two of them were enjoying each other's company. Such a peaceful fantasy but then he would always remember that such a thing could never be.
