http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aG2W05xJ76oIn this original Casshern was a human who turned himself into a cyborg or something to be able to fight robots and save humanity, but in the 2004 reboot he's an ancient war machine with amnesia or something.

To me that's like saying people don't know Megaman if their first game was from the X series. It's still pretty much the same character. I know they're technically different people, but whatever, they do the same s**t and their personalities were vague at best anyway.

Ironic that you'd bring up megaman, because I've been realizing how much megaman borrows from Casshern.

Most people would say Astro Boy... which is basically sci-fi Pinocchio as far as I can tell, sooo not the most original idea in the first place.

Did astro boy turn himself into a fighting robot to fight the machines his father built?
Did he have a robot dog? ("Friender" also turns into a jet and other vehicles.)
Probably.

The Eleventh AK Canadian. Don't have Cartoon Network here. When I was a lad it was all about The Zone cool Although on the off chance I actually turned on the television, I saw ads on Teletoon saying Cartoon Network was coming to Canada. Mordecai was in it... I got a little excited. I hear this Toonami guy is pretty cool, though. Might have a look-see if we get it here. I know Wayne is all about dat Casshern guy We get Cartoon Network July 4th.

Megaman was inspired by Casshern which was probably inspired by Astro Boy. A LOT of s**t is inspired by Astro Boy though.
