Cam needed a distraction.
The silence was deafening...

Then Cam heard it. It was faint, but she had definitely heard it. A beep. A simple beep. Cam looked around, and heard the beep again. Cam turned completely around and raised her arm cannon as the beeping grew louder and faster. Just as she was scanning the area, her Combat Visor started to glitch. The advanced visor went white for a split second before it started blinking red.
Something was close...

►► Cam kept scanning the area and nearly screamed when she realized what was making her visor go haywire. "Look out!"
Everything was in slow motion from that moment on. Cam activated her thrusters just as she started to run towards Keither. The bounty hunter let her shoulder armor ram into Keither's torso armor and knock him to the ground. The rough landing sent the duo rolling just as a Pirate flagship crashed into the ground where Keither, Cameran, and the UNSC sergeant had been standing. Cam stared back at the ship, oblivious to the fact that she was still lying on top of Keither.

"Hey. Where's that sergeant of yours?" Cam had been to concerned for Keither that she didn't even bother to think about her other team member. No. That was a lie. She was merely acting on instinct. She didn't care for Keither at all.

►► Cam sighed. She really couldn't help but hate how this mission was going. She would give anything to be tracking down an anonymous S.O.S. than standing where she was right now. "Next time I'll just let the stupid thing crush you." Cam mumbled as she fired a missile at the door to the ship, blowing the thing off of its hinges. Cam stepped in and cautiously looked around. She raised an eyebrow when she saw three limp Pirates in a heap on the floor next to the control panel. Stepping over the dead bodies, Cam made her way to the panel. "Landing gear malfunction. They must've been planning to land and attack us when something went wrong." she said loud enough for her comms unit to pick up.

►► Cam heard something click behind her. It was an ominous type of click that told her a bomb had been attached to something. Cam's visor flashed red just before she activated her thrusters and hurtled off to the side. Once she turned around, Cam watched the ship blow up, making the cloaking device on the creature that was once in front of her malfunction. Cam sent a missile flying at this one and rolled into a ball and under another creature just before it attacked her. Cam morphed back into human form and launched another missile into the back of this one's head. The two missile-ridden elite's fell to their deaths as the bounty hunter scanned the area for abnormalities in the scenery.
"Look for ripples."
Keither's advice echoed in Cam's head from their first rendezvous with invisible enemies.

Cam's nose wrinkled at the revolting sight. But that split second that Cam dropped her guard, shouldn't have happened. Cam felt a sharp blow to her right shoulder and the blond was catapulted across the area and into a stone wall. Cam winced at the sound of her helmet metal hitting the rock just before sending out her Grapple Beam. Cam used the beam to pull herself to her feet before pulling the beast in a half-circle and ramming him into a wall.
These bastards were becoming tiresome...

She watched the beasts fall to their faces before standing back up straight and lowering her cannon hand her arm to her sides. "Let's get going before more of those things show up." Cam hissed, angry at the fact that they had already hit a bump on Mission Road.

Cam sighed. She couldn't take this silence anymore. People were always telling her how silence was golden, but this stuff was deadly. She wanted to break it, needed to break it. But how could she start a friendly conversation with someone who stabbed her in the back?
Cameran shook the thoughts away and started focusing on the environment around them, taking careful notes about what was native to Talon and what wasn't.
