Indeed, considering just how many trees there were in this place, it wouldn't have been very surprising if the mirror had gotten caught on one of the branches on the way down. Unfortunately, the same thought that crossed Jay's mind flickered through Zhi's--what would they do if the mirror had fallen somewhere and shattered? Surely they couldn't just...glue the pieces back together and hope for the best.
The Conquest horsemen grimaced when Jay pointed out a very good point about the branches, crossing his arms over his chest. Just how was he supposed to get up there then? Even if the mirror wasn't on top of that particular tree, it would be easier to look for from a high viewpoint, and--
--...
"...Jayjay. You...you're going to fly me up? Are you sure about this?" He stared at her, and then down at himself, and then back at her. Well, he was smaller now...but this still seemed rather...difficult to pull off, didn't it?
Still, he obediently moved forward and held out his arms. "Just drop me if it gets too hard, okay?"

She puffed out her cheeks. “Of course I am!” Huffing, the warrior placed both hands on her waist and declared, “I’m a war horseman! Carrying you up will be a piece of cake!” Somewhere in the distance, someone snickered. Jay ignored it. Zhi appeared apprehensive, and honestly she felt a bit of doubt as well, but she reached forward to tightly wrap her arms around his face.
“No way! What if I drop you from somewhere high? That’s painful.” Her grasp on Zhi tightened as she struggled to flap her wings fast enough to propel them off the ground, but a few moments later they were hovering above ground, and moments after that they were gradually making their way toward the tree tops, Jay’s grasp on the soldier ever tighter with each passing second.
Jay wheezed.

Well, Jay did seem rather...confident that she could do it. Perhaps it would just be best to trust her, then. The conquest horseman nodded slowly, obediently holding still as his friend moved to wrap her arms around his...face, a move which ended up pressing Zhi's face into Jay's chest.
...wait what.
Still, when he felt his feet leave the ground, Zhi knew better than to wriggle and protest, and simply remained quiet and obedient. How high they were, he didn't know, but when he heard the horsewomen wheezing, he let out a muffled, "Are you okay, Jayjay?" against the clothing that covered her chest.
At least she didn't have boobs like Shaheen's. Then he would be suffocating.Syusaki /still dying ilu okay lakdjfajhdsf <33

“Fine,” she answered in a high-pitched voice. Higher than usual, anyways. “Totally fine.” She hugged Zhi even tighter as she strained to flap her wings enough to reach the lowest branch. “Aaaah so tired,” Jay whined and for a moment she ceased to move her wings. The pair fell a bit before she screeched, “FOR THE LOVE OF ARES.” She began to fly even more frantically and then threw Zhi onto a branch before she climbed onto the same branch.
She rested on her stomach, her cheek pressed against the wood while her wings drooped. “You go on ahead Zhizhi, I’m just….gonna….rest…”

To his credit, the horseman tried to stay as still as possible as his friend proceeded to fly them both up. He even tried to hold his breath, as if such a feat would somehow make him easier for Jay to carry, and the only noise he made was a single squawk when he was thrown unceremoniously onto a branch. Legs and arms dangling in open air as his middle was curved over the branch, he glanced over to Jay.
"Are you okay, Jayjay?" The horsewoman's request for him to go on earned a concerned expression, and he reached out to pat her head, sleeves billowing in a passing breeze. "I'll try going up higher then okay?"
Trying not to shake the branch, he pressed his hand against the tree trunk and used it for support as he shakily got up to his feet. The minute that the branch above them was in grasp, he reached up to grab it, easily hefting himself up.
Now, where was that blasted mirror? He tried to search for a glint among the branches above him, brows furrowed.

The bluebird looked a lot like a piece of laundry hung on a clothes line. She listlessly waved an arm at Zhi and attempted to pat the hand that had patted her head. “I’m good, Zhizhi. I’ll meet you there in a minute or two.” As Jay heard the soldier reach for a branch, she groaned softly and climbed fully onto the branch. She chose to lay on her back so she could stare up at the canopy. One bandaged hand rested on her stomach while the other reached up for the rays of light that peeked through the leaves. It was all so nostalgic.
The tiniest seed of temptation to stay on the fake isle arose, but the warrior crushed it immediately and without remorse. Her attention was perked when she noticed an unusual glint. “Zhizhi, head in that direction,” she suggested, pointing toward her left.

Zhi perked up when Jay called out to him, glancing down at her briefly before turning to look at what she was pointing to. At once, his dark eyes caught sight of the glint, his eyes narrowing slightly. Well, this was going to be a little dangerous--with the (possible) mirror being so far off to the side like that, there was the potential of either a) Zhi falling while trying to grab it, or b) the mirror falling and shattering. Frankly, the Conquest horseman was more worried about the latter than the former.
"Get ready to catch it if it falls, Jayjay," He warned, taking a deep breath before he proceeded to climb up and make his way towards the left side of the tree. Soon enough, he found himself in range of the item, and he reached out to grab it. Careful, careful...
His fingers curled tightly around the object. "Got it!"

Now that she had recovered, Jay nodded affirmatively. “No problem, Zhizhi!” she chirped. She spread her legs apart and she craned her neck to stare intently at Zhi and the area where the glint had flashed. The small warrior unfurled her wings, ready to leap off the branch should the need arise. Her eyes widened when the soldier neared the object and grabbed it. She immediately burst out, jumping and flapping her wings so she could join Zhi. “Awesome! Youdidityoudidyoudidit—“ She reached for the mirror, peered at her peculiar reflection once more and—
Woke up sputtering in the resting center. A famine horseman shot her an odd look before shuffling away. Jay searched for Zhi. “Zhizhi?”Kaiyumi Oops super lame uxu Wanna wrap it up?

The Conquest horseman was safely back home, flopped over face down on the ground. He lifted an arm to give Jay a thumbs up, and then let it fall back down again. His voice was muffled when he spoke.
"Let's not do that again."
