The dark-haired grunt blinked and pushed her glasses up slightly as she leaned forward to see, letting a slight, awkward, snort at being shoved.
Well, that probably just sounded weird.

Well it wasn't really a time to worry about it anyway (so why was she?) as she really wanted to see the display.
She watched data scrolling past, saw various messages flash up and vanish, accompanied by the beeping.
Problem after problem was found and solved or compensated for until one message stuck.
Unfortunately, she'd turned away, looking for the capsule Rory mentioned.
"Uh... Um. It's..." It was right here somewhere, she was sure...

'Genetic sequence 078 incompatible with genetic sequence 077; compensating for anomaly... Fabricated sequence in progress. Disregarding 'E' sequence. In progress.'

The machine whirred loudly as it 'snipped' away things that 'wouldn't fit', stringing two strands of DNA together finally.

Rory slightly chuckled when he heard the small snort come from the other grunt, but tried to cover it with a small cough.

When the message flashed on the screen, he gave a small excited whoop. "Tambrey, Tambrey, stop and look," he said, putting his hand back on her shoulder and shaking it lightly. They would find the capsule in a minute, after all it couldn't be too far away from them in their tiny closet. "We did it," he whispered.

The tiny mouse decided to jump off of Rory's lap when the man's attention went to the strange machine instead of him. He walked around the small, cramped floor and bumped into something about the size of him. He looked at it and let out a curious 'chu' as he rolled it towards the two grunts.

Tambrey, about to turn back slightly to look one way, inexplicably chose to spin all the way back around to turn back to the screen; eyes wide and slightly disbelieving cast to her expression behind the excitement.
It hadn't worked for enough tries so far that she'd not truly expected anything to happen this time.
The hand on her shoulder was barely noticed as she gazed down at the display but was rather surprisingly answered with a turn and a hug aimed at her fellow Rocket.
"Holy Oa, 't worked! Thank you!"

Of course, she didn't yet realise that Thor had found it, nor currently remembered she'd been looking.

When she turned around to see the screen, the blonde grunt watched her face as she took in the reading on the screen. For him, it was the excitement of actually creating a pokemon. For her, however, it was not only the joy of finally having the experiment succeed, but of seeing her new pokemon being 'born' in a way.

When she grabbed him for a hug, he returned the embrace with a tight squeeze. "You're welcome. Thank you for letting me be a part of it."

Thor rolled what he had found over to Rory and tugged lightly on the leg of his pants. Rory let go of Tambrey, but kept one arm wrapped around her. He looked down to see what Thor wanted and noticed that he had found the capsule they had been looking for. He let go of his fellow rocket completely and bent down to pet Thor as a form of praise before attaching the capsule to the machine.

"So what next?"

"Part of it? Rory, I couldn't have done this without you... The problem wouldn't be solved and, heck, 's Pinkie's DNA as the base. 'M not so much letting you be a part 'f it as y'r being the reason 't's actually happening" Tambrey rambled it out while still watching the screen and still with Rory's arm around her.

She didn't look up until the arm was removed and realised Rory was bending to get something.
"Ah! Thank you Thor!" She smiled at the pokémon as Rory attached the capsule and then turned back to the machine.

"Um. Well. Uh, I never expected t'... Um. Press the green button and then the- do you remember?- Is it blue? The cell cluster needs t' go into the, uh, capsule... Well, once th' growth solution's in there anyway... And, uh. Then we 'keep the food coming' and watch 't grow until, well... 's a pokémon. In theory." Tambrey recounted what she remembered, knowing Rory could fill in any gaps she'd missed.
Accelerated growth technology, even in this limited form, at least, meant that they wouldn't be waiting months.

Rory blushed slightly and turned his attention back to the machine to watch it continue its duty and to wait for the next part of the process that needed to be triggered.

"Still thank you," he replied, "it was an amazing opportunity and I'm grateful that you chose me to be the one to help you."

He nodded quickly as he listened to her ramble off the instructions and what she thought they were supposed to do next.

"Got it," he replied as he keyed in the button sequence to keep the so far successful experiment going into its next stage. Once the machine was done, they could just monitor it; with any luck it would be healthy and Tambrey would have her brand new pokemon. He turned back to her and gave her another grin, "It won't be long now."

"Well, then still thankyou and y're welcome 'n return." Tambrey grinned, watching Rory key in the sequence.

It was very close to being past the most dangerous and difficult stages completely; they'd already gotten the cells to accept the DNA as a natural part of themselves, avoiding the fire-y reaction from before and now natural division was taking place.
Once the clone was into the capsule, growth would gradually slow once the pokémon was formed and then, within 2 or 3 weeks, a fully formed Ponyta would exit the capsule.

Tambrey nodded, already trying to peer into the capsule as though there'd be anything to see at such an early stage.
"I can't wait t' see what he 'r she looks like; 's so weird that it's /working/ finally..."

"It will definitely be interesting to see," he replied, stepping back from the machine and sitting down to let it continue the final process of moving their creation into the capsule. "I feel the need to apologize if he or she has Pinkie's personality," he joked.

He wondered to himself if there was anything to see in the capsule yet but let her continue to look. He would look for himself later on, plus he would be helping monitor it until it was grown and healthy enough to be out of the liquid it would be submerged in inside the capsule.

In truth, so far there was nothing but bubbles and a faint, almost impossible to see, smear of something dark- a speck- at the centre.

'Catalysing Accelerated Growth Matrix' The machine beeped to inform them before a small blue lightning fork shot through the material in the capsule and, though too small to see it, caused the speck at the centre to pulse slightly.
"Oh, 's no need t' apologize for that; I think it'd be n-Eeeh!"
Tambrey gave a short shriek (cutting her sentence short) having completely forgotten that final part of the process and stumbled backward, startled at suddenly coming face to face with electricity.
Immediately she regretted it and was flushing red even as she fell back.
Afraid of the tiniest of sparks now, apparently- it was embarrassing.

Calmly, the machine informed them 'Growth Accelerated' before shutting down programs that were no longer active. Somewhere, an old printer whirred noisily.

He chuckled slightly as he turned his attention to the capsule, wondering if there was anything else to be done with it right now.

He was about to respond when he saw the bolt of lighting strike the small speck inside the capsule. He had the slight urge the shout 'it's alive' until he head Tambrey shriek and stumble back. When she did, he jumped up and put his hands on her shoulders to steady her and pulled her back towards him and away from the machine. When Thor heard her shriek and noticed both of them staring at the machine, he went over and growled at it, wondering what it had done to scare the two humans.

"Are you alright?" Rory asked worriedly as he rubbed his hands up and down her arms. He wasn't concerned about whatever the machine was doing now, more worried instead about trying to get his friend calmed back down.

"Oof! Uh. Sorry. Yes. 'M alright, I just totally forgot-" She blinked, already blushing, she only turned a deeper shade as she realised how they'd ended up.

She wasn't sure what to do, or whether to say something and coughed slightly, looking toward the ground.

"Uh. Um." Tambrey fought to get back to what she'd been about to say. "Jus' forgot about the, uh, flashy... The catalyst.. Thingy. Um. Startled me... Are you okay?" She automatically tacked onto the end and cringed slightly. That was probably a silly thing to ask.

The machine whirred and grumbled, oblivious to Thor.

Rory slightly questioned why she blushed until he realized how they had ended up and felt a faint warmth creep up into his own cheeks. This was the closest they had been since they had started working together; it was slightly awkward, however, he didn't let go of her.

"It's alright," he replied softly as he continued to rub her arms. "Now we know not to stand so close to it." he gave her a small, playful grin hoping that it would help calm her down. "At least it's not projectile flames this time." he joked.

When the machine didn't respond to his growl and the two humans didn't seem to be in danger, Thor ran back over and crawled up to Tambrey's shoulder, acting like he was inspecting her before licking her cheek.

Well this was awkward and nice... And awkward because it was nice and kind of ... nice in how it was awkward.
Tambrey was reluctant to extract herself, her mind trying to put it down to the fact that she was just feeling 'comfortable' in such a way because it was comfort from a 'friend'... And 'awkward' because she wasn't the 'hugging type'... Maybe.
She was also pretty sure more or less none of that was entirely true, but it was convenient.
Didn't stop the blush though... and she really should probably extract herself. Maybe in a moment.
"Uh, heh." She grinned back. "That would've been a lot worse..." Well that was true at least; being hit in the face by flaming growth matrix didn't sound fun at all.

Thor was suddenly clambering up her arm and she held back a wince- a response that had no purpose as, despite the scar on her arm, there was no pain to react to anyway- smiling at him and snorting a little bit of laughter at the cheek lick.
"'M fine. Thank's Thor. Both 'f you." She promised, cheeks (even the licked one) remaining a rather healthy pink colour.

The very brief thought of why he hadn't made a move to let her go once she had confirmed that she was alright crossed his mind. It felt almost....nice.....to be holding someone. It had been a while since he had that kind of contact with anyone; he almost forgot what it felt like.

Rory chuckled slightly, "Oh yeah. A lot worse. I don't know about you but I wouldn't feel like explaining that to the infirmary."

Thor's antics caused another chuckle and he lightly scratched the top of the pichu's head. "You're welcome," he replied as Thor nuzzled his head against Tambrey's. "From both of us," he joked.

Tambrey's hair started to 'float' a bit in the static charge of the Pichu nuzzling at her. It was tingly- and really slightly unnerving if she let herself think about it- but nice; quite tickly. She reached up at the same time Rory did to pet at the Pichu and found herself avoiding getting in his hand's way.

If neither of them did anything though, this awkward and nice situation would just continue and probably get even more awkward.
She coughed slightly and started to move to extract herself; an attempt to end the situation, if reluctantly, without commenting on its awkwardness and making it /more/ awkward.
Her cheeks remained somewhat rosy and her hair was now slightly fluffing from Pichu charge.

"So. I guess we ought to, uh, store this until tomorrow..." She talked about the capsule "And if it goes right, we can connect the feeds and such to start replenishing the nutrient... thingy... next, uh, time." At least that sort of made sense, awkwardly worded as it was.
