I'd assume it's because bugs are already evil.

I pretty much agree with this.
There's dark being evil and such, doing their scary faces and glares but then suddenly an Ariados comes out of nowhere and gives it's own scary face. Darkness is like "WTF, that's not normal" and backs off.

Fighting types can counter dirty fighting with skill, as you've said, but it wouldn't make sense for bugs unless you considered that bugs don't really sleep (so darkness really doesn't affect them).

I assumed dark type isn`t effective against bug type because you can`t sneak up on a bug.

They see everything.


You can sneak up on a bug, though. Haven't you ever gone bug catching?
